About the property

Top Lodge Cottage...

A calm, delightful and luxurious retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds, 10 minutes walk from the centre of historic Stow on the Wold. Built all on one level in the grounds of the owners' 19th century home, with fabulous uninterrupted views over miles of beautiful Cotswold countryside. The cottage sits alongside an ancient bridleway which forms part of the Monarch's Way walking trail. Built by local craftsmen in traditional materials the cottage is spacious, private and exceptionally comfortable with all modern amenities and its own south-facing garden. Guests are welcome to use the owners' heated pool and tennis court. A perfect sanctuary with easy walking access to one of England's most beautiful small towns, and an ideal base for exploration of the very heart of England.

About Biny Gregory

Tony (English) and Biny (Dutch) came to Stow in 1973 when Tony was a pilot in the RAF. We bought Top Lodge in 1978 and have taken root here. We feel very privileged to own an idyllic spot in this glorious part of the UK and much of our time is spent caring for Top Lodge and its surroundings. We're National Trust members, avid supporters of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, keen walkers and occasional culture-vultures in Stratford-on-Avon, Oxford and Cheltenham all of which are close by. Family comprises two daughters in their 30s and twin grandsons aged 5. We've family connections in Holland, Germany and France and spend time in Europe both summer and winter. We love where we live and very much want our guests to enjoy Top Lodge as much as we have in the past 36 years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely cottage, pleasant stroll to Stow. Loved the log fire, and had a very enjoyable stay.

A perfect home away fom home!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage and its pastoral setting are ideal. It is just a 10 minute stroll into Stow, with its excellent restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops, and a short drive to other towns and sights. Our hosts, Biny and Tony, were friendly and helpful, and the decor lovely. It felt like home from the moment we began to unpack. Thank you so much, Biny and Tony. We hope we will be able to return again and again.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Top Lodge Cottage and we would highly recommend it. On both occasions we found the owners very helpful with making the booking. They were flexible with dates when the generic cottage booking websites couldn't be. The cottage itself is lovely and quiet, clean, warm (with underfloor heating and a log fire) and done out to an extremely high standard. It is in a quiet spot just outside Stow-on-the-Wold town centre. It is a good base for visiting Oxford, Cheltenham, Blenheim Palace and the many pretty Cotswold towns nearby.

Perfect holiday retreat

  • 5 of 5

Spacious, comfortable, and warm, Top Lodge Cottage is a real treat in the winter month. Sitting by the stunning fireplace reading a book was pure bliss and so was the under-floor heating! The place is very well designed, benefits from beautiful views, and the owners have done a wonderful job at making this cottage feel like a cosy home by furnishing it with lovely decorative items, wall pictures, good lighting, beautiful curtains, plants. And whether it's in the kitchen, living room or in the bathroom, there's everything you could possibly need. Thank you!

EXCELLENT!!!

  • 5 of 5

We're so glad we found this cottage!! We will definitely be going back!! Tucked away down a leafy lane with no traffic apart from dogs and horses, it is very peaceful. The view from the lounge is great and if you're lucky the local wildlife will make an appearance. (Deer, hares and many different types of bird) Everything about the cottage is well thought out and the wood burner is lovely. Stow is just a 10 minute walk up the lane and has plenty of places to eat but we preferred to eat at the cottage, it was so relaxing.

It was our first trip to the Cotswolds and we enjoyed travelling around and exploring. Top Lodge Cottage is a very good base and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Thank you very much Biny and Tony for being wonderful hosts. We'll see you again soon!!
