About the property

Top Lodge Cottage...

A calm, delightful and luxurious retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds, 10 minutes walk from the centre of historic Stow on the Wold. Built all on one level in the grounds of the owners' 19th century home, with fabulous uninterrupted views over miles of beautiful Cotswold countryside. The cottage sits alongside an ancient bridleway which forms part of the Monarch's Way walking trail. Built by local craftsmen in traditional materials the cottage is spacious, private and exceptionally comfortable with all modern amenities and its own south-facing garden. Guests are welcome to use the owners' heated pool and tennis court. A perfect sanctuary with easy walking access to one of England's most beautiful small towns, and an ideal base for exploration of the very heart of England.

About Biny Gregory

Tony (English) and Biny (Dutch) came to Stow in 1973 when Tony was a pilot in the RAF. We bought Top Lodge in 1978 and have taken root here. We feel very privileged to own an idyllic spot in this glorious part of the UK and much of our time is spent caring for Top Lodge and its surroundings. We're National Trust members, avid supporters of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, keen walkers and occasional culture-vultures in Stratford-on-Avon, Oxford and Cheltenham all of which are close by. Family comprises two daughters in their 30s and twin grandsons aged 5. We've family connections in Holland, Germany and France and spend time in Europe both summer and winter. We love where we live and very much want our guests to enjoy Top Lodge as much as we have in the past 36 years.

Beautiful cottage with great views & facilities

  • 5 of 5

This was our third holiday at TLC and it did not disappoint. The cottage was clean and well equipped with a home from home feeling. The use of the swimming pool and tennis court is fantastic and enjoyed especially by the children. An added bonus for the children was playing with Jessie the dog! There is so much to do in and around Stow, you are never stuck for something nice to do. Thank you to Tony and Biny for making our stay so enjoyable.

A very pleasant, quiet place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Top Lodge Cottage is a lovely, well-maintained property. Biny and Tony are very helpful and friendly - the delicious fruit cake waiting for us was a lovely surprise. The cottage is really comfortable and we would recommend anyone to stay there. Being at the end of a road (as far as vehicles are concerned) it was very peaceful. If we're down that way again we will look to see whether the cottage is available before looking anywhere else.

Top Lodge Cottage is a short, pleasant walk from Stow, a pleasant village. It is close to several National Trust properties, two interesting arboretums and some other beautiful villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway.

Thank you both for a lovely week's holiday.

A really lovely Cotswold property that is in great condition, lots to do, and the perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We all had a great time at this cottage due to the location, amenities and living space. It has everything you could want, including a tennis court which we used and a pool (which disappointingly wasn't usable until mid May). This place is perfect for couples, families and group of friends - due to the living space, layout of bedroom space and ensuite bathrooms.

Charming, clean cottage in a perfect location! Highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

Two couples spent three nights at the lovely Top Lodge Cottage. The perfectly appointed cottage was a perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking in. The bedrooms were large with plenty of storage. It was definitely a plus for each bedroom to have its own bathroom. It was a little chilly in February when we visited but the outdoor area was beautiful and peaceful. A short ten minute walk to the heart of Stow but when you were at the Cottage you felt like you were truly away from it all. George and Biny were perfect hosts! The bottle of wine and delicious cake to welcome us we're just what we needed! George even took us on a ride through town showing us the best pubs and restaurants! We enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings and had fun playing the board games they had at the Cottage. A perfect spot...I highly recommend!

Charming, welcoming home

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated, spotless cottage with underfloor heating that was on as we arrived all set the tone for what was a delightful, if at times, rainy few days in the Cotswolds. The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings and the warm welcome we received was very much appreciated. There are so many places of interest close by that one is never lost for ideas on where to go next. Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodation.

Neighbouring villages close by include Chipping Norton, Burford, Northleach, Blockley, the famous Slaughters, the Swells, Bourton on the Water and Moreton in Marsh with its vibrant Tuesday market.
