About Catherine Gordon

My husband and I decided to leave the rat race of London and give it a go in Pembrokeshire. We bought the property in 2006 and it took 3 long years to renovate and furnish. An awful lot of love and labour has gone into the property to make it feel warm and inviting, given its scale. AND Ffynnon Gron is the end result….. so far! Since purchasing the property we now have two small children, we did much of the renovations living on site with a baby/toddler in tow. Another? – baby? No! – Renovation? - maybe? Although all three are my little Jewels, not sure I have enough love and energy for any more!

Catherine Gordon purchased this house in 2005

Why Catherine Gordon chose Pembrokeshire

We have family in the area who we started visiting regularly. We fell in love with the beautiful unspoilt county, it has everything you could want, but without the hordes. With its predominantly coastal National Park, 186 mile Coastal walking path and 58 beaches, why wouldn't you want to live and work here! It's easy to understand why Pembrokeshire was voted ‘2nd most outstanding coastal destination in the world’ by National Geographic Magazine in 2010. Where ever you are in the county, you are never more that 9 miles from the coast.

What makes this house unique

Ffynnon Gron is in a great central location for exploring the whole county. It has bags of character, with many original features. It is big but beautiful, homely and warm. It's counrty but coastal, situated just five miles from the ocean. It's secluded but open to take in the stunning views. It's an ideal property for a special occassion, it is elegant, charming and chic and very family friendly.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Beautiful house and garden. Attention to detail and homely feel about the house and all the space made our whole holiday idyllic. Everyone (age range 5 months to 72 years) had a wonderful time and the space in the garden for the children was fantastic. One of the best holidays we have had and perfect for a big family get together.” Jan Williams – June 2014

“We would return again without hesitation. It is a wonderful facility for an extended family to go away together but also have privacy and space. We were all sad to come home! For us, it was a fantastic family experience. The house lends itself to catering for family units in the way in which bedrooms and bathrooms are grouped.” Peter Coopey - May 2014

“A wonderful place to visit. Quality facilities in beautiful surroundings. A delicious meal prepared for you when you arrive – everything is very well conceived for your visit. The Walk with the Hawks went down really well with kids and adults alike and we were also lucky enough to be invited by the farmer next door to see the milking process and feed their donkeys. Very friendly & hospitable locals indeed.” Anna Czura - Aug 2013

Further Details:

WALKING - The pleasures of a glorious sunset on the cliffs, a glimpse of a Dipper skimming down the river, or simply the fresh air and wind-in-your-hair feeling of a great walk along the coast are here aplenty. Just get your boots on and head on out! The National Park ensures that the network of footpaths, all 186 miles, is well signposted.

CYCLING - There is so much to see with rides to suit all ages from beginners to experienced cyclists.

HORSE RIDING - A number of stables around the county offer riding either within their own manage, or trekking out into the countryside.

ADVENTURE - Pembrokeshire's reputation for adventure activities has grown by leaps and bounds (literally!). TYF Adventure based in St Davids, has pioneered the crazy sport of throwing yourself in the sea just to get to the other side - they call it 'coasteering'. They will also take you and/or the family or pals out climbing, kayaking or surfing round the dramatic islands and caves. Sealyham Activity Centre offers rock and rope climbing, archery and mountain-biking. There are Surf Schools at Newgale and Whitesands, and kite-surfing is offered by Big Blue at Newgale as well.

OAKWOOD THEME PARK just 15 miles away is one of the best thrills-and-spills days out in UK, with the fastest wooden roller-coaster ('Megaphobia').

BLUESTONE, with the Blue Lagoon, an indoor, sub-tropical, swimming paradise... it has flumes, an indoor-outdoor 'lazy river' and a wave machine producing the biggest indoor waves in the UK!

PADDLE down the Teifi with Heritage Canoes or outdoor Go-Karting at Withybush, Haverfordwest.

FUN and ADVENTURE 40 feet above the ground or stay on level pegging with archery and pistol shooting at the Tree Tops Trail at Heatherton Activity Park.

LITTLE CHILDREN there is a day visiting Folly Farm - The New Zoo Olympics Trail is a fun way to test yourself against the amazing feats of animal athletes - it offers a host of activities for all the family.
