Cottages in Bassenthwaite Village, Nr Keswick, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Peaceful Village Location - Walks From The Door

By a stream with ducks and an old wooden bridge! Brook House is 17th century, and has a delightful position overlooking the stream, where ducks waddle too and fro all day long. There is a lovely cottage garden to the front of the cottage, with some of the very old -fashioned roses still there. It is a comfortable and well-maintained and tastefully furnished property with all modern facilities (recent new bathrooms!)

Details for holiday cottage Brook House 1 Sleeps 8 (4 Bedrooms), 4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 9, 3 Bathrooms

Well maintained and tastefully furnished cottage which lends itself to family get-to-gethers. Also ideal cottage for a real country/village holiday for couples or smaller groups with beautiful scenery on your doorstep. A lovely cottage garden to sit in, or on warm days to sit out and have your meals, surrounded by a real countryside feel. Parents and

Children can feel safe in this environment with a few simple pleasures by the stream, e.g. building dams , playing pooh sticks, digging with a bucket and spade, trying to catch minnows with a net, playing hide and seek in the little wood just opposite. This is a fairly quiet area, just a nice distance from Keswick and nearby lakes , away from the busy bits, which are good to visit, but nice to come back to a more relaxing environment.

About the Owner

I have lived here at picturesque Bassenthwaite for "many years"

and have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world. I am a farmer's wife, so have had to learn to "juggle" many roles as well as looking after grand children and elderly parents over the years.

I still enjoy this way of life, and although I do not have many holidays, I feel the world comes to me, and as long as I am fit and well to do so, I will continue my very rewarding job.

I take great pride in having my cottages clean and comfortable with good facilities, and always put my guests first.

Look forward to meeting many more!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Never have I stayed in such a well-equipped and pleasant place. It has been a pleasure. We would definitely recommend it to anyone. Gail and Joe Briggs, and family.

We have had a most memorable time celebrating a birthday. We love the cottage, it felt so welcoming, we felt we lived here. We will miss feeding the ducks and watching their antics, but have left some food for them.We cannot wait to return. North Wales gang

Thanks you so much for your hospitality. We have enjoyed our stay . Loved the stream, ducks, and pub!! Vanessa Benson Alistair and Jackie.

Location

From the Owner

These cottages are close to our farm and therefore I am on hand to give advice to our guests if required, and guide them on their chosen route for the day. They are in a most picturesque setting "BY a stream with ducks" . The ducks are a great attraction as they waddle too and fro from farm to stream. We hatch new ducklings about twice or three times a year, and have lambing time in March/April, which is very exciting(and hard work), but our guests just love watching it all happen, A real farm experience especially in the Springtime at lambing time as lambing is in the barns on the farmstead
