About the Owner

We live in England in the East Midlands and have visited Portugal for many years. When visiting the Algarve it was mainly to Lagos with our Portuguese friends in the early years. It was a mere fishing village with the sardines being barbequed in the streets. We all stayed in an apartment overlooking the sea. The children loved Mia Praia beach with it's wonderful sandy beach. Lagos and Tavira have maintained much of their rich heritage and culture despite the pressures of tourism. We had never visited the East side until about eight years ago.We were staying at the Vila Gale Hotel when we first saw the apartments being built from our hotel window. We fell in love with Tavira as well and all the family have been visiting both apartments.

The Algarve has much to offer and a good climate.

Perfect - quiet and clean

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd visit to Tavira, but our first in this apartment.

Information and contact details provided prior to our stay alowed us to find the apartment with no trouble. Sandra was waiting for us to show us around and the secure, dedicated underground garage space meant we didn't need to worry about finding parking.

Location was perfect - a short stroll into town. There seemed to be very few people staying in the complex, so it was very quiet.

Everything was very clean and the kitchen was very well equipped.

Nice to see that the shower curtain in the photos has been replaced by a glass screen (I hate clingy shower curtains!).

Didn't use the pool due to the time of year (though still 22C most days). Also, we drove to local beaches (Barril was a favourite) as the ferry no longer left from Tavira town (again, time of year...).

Lots of lovely restaurants, all very reasonably priced. We tended to avoid anywhere with pictures of food on display outside!

Surprisingly, we needed to book for dinner most nights, even to get a table at 7pm. Also a few places "closed for the holidays" and for renovations.

Enjoyed meals in Aquasul and A Taska (twice in both). Would have liked to eat at D'gusta, but it was closed, with a very loose "see you in November" sign in the window. The relaxed Portugese way of life!

In summary, another very enjoyable visit to Tavira, made even better by great accommodation.

We loved the apartment in every way. The location was brilliant a few minutes walk from the centre. The kitchen had all the mod cons as we did some cooking from the nearby market.it was very spacious and perfect for 2 couples . Also Sandra and george were always on hand if we had any concerns.

Lovely modern apartment in the heart of Tavira, only a few minutes walk from local restaurants, shops and the ferry boat. Very well-maintained and clean apartment in a quiet complex. Can't fault it!

A perfect apartment for visiting Tavira

  • 5 of 5

A well presented 2 bed apartment which perfectly suited our needs. Spacious and modern - we found the apartment perfect for what we needed. Tavira is a charming town on the river which really comes to life at night. There is a good range of bars and restaurants and there seemed to be live music most nights. The regular ferry to the beach/island works very well and is well worth the 2 euros. We would happily come back to this apartment and Tavira.

Convenient position

  • 4 of 5

Apartment was lovely and there was everything you could wish for. One very minor comment, in that the bathroom was very dark. As a couple we would have liked two sets of keys as occasionally we go out separately. The swimming pool did not seem to be used, but the apartments are mainly residential. They are in the centre of the town so close to the cafes and restaurants.

Location

From the Owner

We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the tranquillity and unspoilt charm and the abundance of history which is evident. There is so much to do and see whether it is walking, visiting the castle and the many beautiful churches or just relaxing in the cafes and restaurants by the river. An ice cream in the beautiful shady gardens where the locals meet is often a relief. Many craft and cultural events are held all the year round with celebrities visiting from all over the world. Concerts are held in the churches as well especially in the winter time. The ferry boat by the river side takes you to the fantastic beach, cafes, and restaurants. This is where you can spend the whole day, the children love it especially the boat ride. It is a lovely town not spoilt by over development.

Facilities

From the Owner

The queen sized bed in Tavira, especially in the hot weather, we havn't enough room at home. Both of our apartments are in the centre of town and everything you need is only a short walk away, the big fish and vegetable market, the super market and many small shops for your unexpected needs. Most of the cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance, some very close. You can do without a car, if you want to travel a little further the buses and trains offer a good service. The taxi rank is close.
