Bright and airy 2-bedroom apartment on the edge of the historic ’white’ village of Frigiliana, voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourist authority. Sandy beaches only 6km away and wonderful hiking country, rich in wildlife, all around. The apartment is located in a small residential block on a quiet side street and has spectacular views – to the east over the Rio Higueron and the rugged mountains of the Tejeda, Almijara & Alhama Natural Park, and south to the small seaside town of Nerja and the Mediterranean.

About the Owner

We started looking for a property in Spain early in 2014, primarily for use as a holiday base for us and our family. We had visited Frigiliana before and liked it very much, so it was always high on our list of places to look and, after exploring other parts of the Med coastline we found nowhere that gave us the same warm feeling as Frigiliana. For us it ticked many boxes including attractiveness, relaxed atmosphere, great climate, good amenities within easy reach (shops, restaurants, beaches, airport, etc) and location as a base for exploring other parts of Andalucia. Lovely apartment in fantastic setting

This has to be one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had, the apartment is absolutely perfect with a stunning view over the mountains and the sea. The owner is very helpful and will answer any questions you may have. Local restaurants and bars are all friendly and reasonably priced, we will define toy go back to this apartment again. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Fabulous apartment and a great base.

We have fallen in love with Frigiliana! The apartment provided everything we could wish for in a place to stay and a base from which to explore the surrounding area. It was scrupulously clean, very well equipped and so convenient for the village and Nerja. The view from the balcony is worth the cost of the booking by itself. The abundance of great restaurants within walking distance meant we rarely used the kitchen although it contained everything necessary for eating in. The local people were so friendly and went out of their way to help. The beach at Maro is idyllic although you need to be unafraid of climbing hills. The beach restaurant specialises in fish and their paella has to be tasted to be believed. The caves of Nerja are a must to visit and cool on a hot day but don't drive there, get the road train from the museo in town for the full experience. All taken together, this was a holiday we enjoyed so much that we recommended it to my son and he has already booked to take his family there in the autumn. As for us, we can't wait to return.

Perfect February break

This apartment was perfect. It was exactly as listed, clean, welcoming, warm and provided with everything we needed. The view of the mountains from the balcony and living room was stunning, the bed was comfortable and we were not disturbed by any noise when we were there.

Anne's communications and information were friendly and extremely comprehensive and useful and Steve was accommodating and helpful on our arrival. We enjoyed the walks from the doorstep (quite strenuous), shopping, eating and strolling in the lovely white village and trips to nearby Competa, Nerja and the wonderful restaurant in El Acebuchal. We would recommend this apartment to our friends and would be happy to return.

Fabulous Apartment in a Not to Touristy Location

We had a lovely two weeks here in late September, the apartment has everything we needed and is clean and very well maintained by the owners, The views from the balcony up towards the mountains and down towards the sea and Nerja are absolutely stunning. Very quiet and peaceful, easy to park close to the apartment and less then a ten minute stroll into the town centre, mostly uphill but not steep at all.

We were told when we booked that the pool was closed from the 1st September. Which with the great weather was a shame, it appears that the residents who do not use it, begrudge having to pay for it.

There are so many restaurants to chose from in the new and old town, you will be spoiled for choice, we particularly like Las Chinas which is owned and run by the host, Sebastian (his name matches his appearance) do not be put off by nearly sitting in the road, the food and service are excellent, perhaps a little more expensive than some other places but the house Rioja is very good. You pass it as you walk towards the town centre. There are so many other nice places to try it would be impossible to list them all.

However if you want to get off the beaten track, try El Acebuchal for lunch, it is a restored very old very small village with a bar...the food is excellent, but be prepared for a 5km drive along a dirt track into the back of beyond...but well worth the effort. They even put juniper berries in what can be described as an enormous gin and tonic.

With our love of Ibiza, we thought we would never return to Frigiliana, but I suspect that may not be the case.

However I would just like to explain that the pool closes on the 15th Sept, not 1st, and although I agree this can be frustrating for visitors it is, unfortunately, expensive to maintain so a compromise has been reached between residents (many of whom never use the pool) and the few owners like us who let our holiday apartments. Spectacular views and comfortable stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable apartment. Ideally situated on the edge of the village overlooking spectacular scenery. Quiet pool to ourselves most of the time. Great local bars and restaurants in walking distance. Loved the place.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Frigiliana is such a great little town where you are slightly off the tourist trail which makes it that much more relaxing. The apartment was lovely and everything we needed was provided. It was very easy to get around by bus and everyone we spoke to was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely try to make it back one day.

From the Owner

We chose the village because of its location in beautiful mountain countryside, close to Nerja and the best beaches for miles around. It was also important that our non-driving children should be able to reach it relatively easily by public transport. As for the apartment itself, it was the views that really sold it to us, easily the best in the village, as well as the lovely (but quiet) swimming pool and the well maintained condition of the apartment itself and the block in general.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Malaga at 60 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Nerja at 5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Las Chinas at 200 Metres Nearest Beach : Nerja at 6 Kilometres Car: not necessary


10 minutes drive to Nerja, which has several lovely beaches to suit all tastes. Further along the coast to the east you will find a number of beautiful deserted beaches, though some involve a bit of a walk from the road.


Approximately 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport. Car useful but not essential as there are regular bus services between Malaga and Nerja (1 to 1.5 hrs) and between Nerja and Frigiliana.


6 km to Nerja, where you can find restaurants, supermarkets, fabulous caves and lovely beaches. Nearby villages worth visiting are Competa (26 km), Torrox pueblo (13 km) and Acebuchal (7 km). Day trips are possible to Malaga (60 km) or Granada (100km), and if you have more time you could visit beautiful Ronda (160 km), Cordoba (210 km) or Seville (260).

Further Details:

There are plenty of small shops, bars and restaurants in the village, including several only a stone's throw from the apartment. There are also several banks and a weekly market. It is a pleasant 10 mins stroll from the apartment to the beautiful 'old town'. Nerja has a wider range of facilities, including supermarkets and several lovely beaches.

The mountainous Tejeda, Almijara & Alhama Natural Park, whose footpaths can be accessed from the village, provides excellent hiking country and a wide range of wildlife, of particular interest to birdwatchers.
