Frigiliana, Andalucia - Quiet location, 10 minutes drive to Nerja beaches

Bright and airy 2-bedroom apartment on the edge of the historic ’white’ village of Frigiliana, voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourist authority. Sandy beaches only 6km away and wonderful hiking country, rich in wildlife, all around. The apartment is located in a small residential block on a quiet side street and has spectacular views – to the east over the Rio Higueron and the rugged mountains of the Tejeda, Almijara & Alhama Natural Park, and south to the small seaside town of Nerja and the Mediterranean.

Sleeps 3, in one double and one single bedroom (plus cot and/or folding bed for extra child if required).

About Anne Davis

We started looking for a property in Spain early in 2014, primarily for use as a holiday base for us and our family. We had visited Frigiliana before and liked it very much, so it was always high on our list of places to look and, after exploring other parts of the Med coastline we found nowhere that gave us the same warm feeling as Frigiliana. For us it ticked many boxes including attractiveness, relaxed atmosphere, great climate, good amenities within easy reach (shops, restaurants, beaches, airport, etc) and location as a base for exploring other parts of Andalucia. Why Anne Davis chose Frigiliana

We chose the village because of its location in beautiful mountain countryside, close to Nerja and the best beaches for miles around. It was also important that our non-driving children should be able to reach it relatively easily by public transport. As for the apartment itself, it was the views that really sold it to us, easily the best in the village, as well as the lovely (but quiet) swimming pool and the well maintained condition of the apartment itself and the block in general.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment has ceiling and plug-in fans for the summer, and several electric heaters for colder weather in the winter. Outside: Communal pool (for use of residents and their guests only) is open during the summer months, from 1st June to 30th September. Allocated space in private car park. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Towels and linen included. Other: Balcony with small table and 4 chairs, 2 sun loungers. Three folding pool-side chairs.

Spacious with lovely balcony views

Great location.

Comfortable

Bathroom could do with a revamp!

Well equipped kitchen although cutlery a little overdue for replacement!

Would use this property again in spring or autumn. Will get very hot in the summer though as in full sun from dawn to late afternoon.

We found temperatures very comfortable at around 20 degrees in feb.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Gary, but I'm sorry if certain aspects of the apartment did not meet your expectations. We are considering how best to modernise the bathroom and have replaced the cutlery! It is true that temperatures will be high in summer, but I think this is to be expected in Andalucia, and we do provide both ceiling and floor fans to make things more comfortable. In fact the sun only shines directly into the apartment in the early morning, though the balcony will be in the sun until mid afternoon. It can actually be pleasantly cool during the afternoon, particularly if there is a breeze.

Good location, spacious & comfortable apartment

This apartment offers a good base for exploring the local area. Lots of good walks available from the apartment & well placed for restaurants & bars. Local bus service to Nerja costs 1Euro per journey, so it is possible to walk to Nerja & get the bus back.

Apartment is well equipped & very comfortable. Balcony is good to sit out on in the morning up until lunch time at this time of year, when the sun moves over to the West.

Stunning views, comfortable and well appointed apartment

A really lovely week in a very comfortable apartment with everything that is needed home from home. The owners provided loads of useful information on the apartment and surrounding areas, smoothing our way to a relaxing holiday. The views from the apartment into the hills and down to the coast are spectacular, and it is ideally located for easy access by car from the main roads, and then by foot to the rest of Frigiliana. A little gem.

What a lovely apartment, a great location, very clean and with everything we could possibly need . The village is beautiful with lots of good restaurants and shops, the beach is only a short drive away And the apartment is a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely recommend this holiday

Beautiful apartment in stunning location

We absolutely loved this apartment. We are a couple with a baby and it was just the perfect size for us and had everything we needed.

The best part though had to be the view. Many early mornings were spent watching the sunrise and sitting out at night with a glass of wine was so relaxing. The balcony gets the sun for most of the day too which is ideal.

The apartment was clean, bright and modern.

We found the owners to be very helpful and the people who look after the property were great.

We will definitely be back!

Coast/Beach:

10 minutes drive to Nerja, which has several lovely beaches to suit all tastes. Further along the coast to the east you will find a number of beautiful deserted beaches, though some involve a bit of a walk from the road.

Travel:

Approximately 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport. Car useful but not essential as there are regular bus services between Malaga and Nerja (1 to 1.5 hrs) and between Nerja and Frigiliana.

Distances:

6 km to Nerja, where you can find restaurants, supermarkets, fabulous caves and lovely beaches. Nearby villages worth visiting are Competa (26 km), Torrox pueblo (13 km) and Acebuchal (7 km). Day trips are possible to Malaga (60 km) or Granada (100km), and if you have more time you could visit beautiful Ronda (160 km), Cordoba (210 km) or Seville (260).

Further Details:

There are plenty of small shops, bars and restaurants in the village, including several only a stone's throw from the apartment. There are also several banks and a weekly market. It is a pleasant 10 mins stroll from the apartment to the beautiful 'old town'. Nerja has a wider range of facilities, including supermarkets and several lovely beaches.

The mountainous Tejeda, Almijara & Alhama Natural Park, whose footpaths can be accessed from the village, provides excellent hiking country and a wide range of wildlife, of particular interest to birdwatchers.

Booking Notes:
25% non-refundable deposit payable on booking. Balance and a £100 security/breakage deposit due 6 weeks before your arrival.
The security/breakage deposit will be returned within 2 weeks of the end of your stay, provided the keys have been returned and no damage or missing items reported.

We regret that no refunds will be given (except for the security/breakage deposit) if cancellation occurs within 4 weeks of your booked date of arrival, unless the apartment can be re-let.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible, The apartment is generally available from 15.00 hrs on your arrival through to 10.00 hrs on departure day, but we may be able to accommodate earlier arrivals and/or later departures on enquiry.
