Managed by an English speaking Italian couple the house has been used as a second home for over 15 years by its owners and is still used regularly by them for holidays.

Simply furnished, comprising 3 generous double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (New master en suite installed in 2017), open plan kitchen/diner/living room, covered patio, private garden and private pool (7m x 4m) with sun deck.

This semi detached house is situated on the outskirts of the village of San Donato di Mango and is within easy reach of Turin and Genoa airports and also from Milan and Nice by Autostrada.

The small community of Mango is nearby and offers local shops and a true taste of Italian life. The thriving and cosmopolitan town of Alba is about 20 minutes by car with its many and varied shops, boutiques, historic buildings, street cafes, Bars, restaurants, Cinema, Swimming Pool, local amenities, car hire and supermarkets. The town hosts a large outdoor market every Saturday filling the narrow streets of the old town with locals and tourists alike. Alba has a main railway station and is itself only a short train ride from the city of Turin.

Affording magnificent scenery and a cooling mountain breeze the area of San Donato di Mango is a favourite with Italians who keep summer homes where they escape the heat and bustle of the city. On a clear day the distant snow-capped peaks of the Alps of Italy, France and Switzerland form a majestic 270° backdrop to the rolling hills and picturesque villages of the Roero and Langhe valleys. Well known for their fine wines and truffles the nearby Tratoria, towns and villages offer wine tasting and host street markets and festivals throughout the year.

Local shops can be found in the town of Mango which is 5 minutes by car, including Banks, Chemist, Bread Shop, Mini Supermarkets, Butcher, Post Office, Hardware, hairdresser, Café/Bar, weekly open air market. The nearest city is Alba, which is known for its truffles and gastronomy. The city has a picturesque medieval centre with cobbled streets. Here you will find a large weekly outdoor market (Saturday), and a fine selection of bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy alfresco dining.

Amenities and facilities: Four ring hob/Stove, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, electric kettle, electric toaster, George Foreman grill, crockery and cutlery, glasses, kitchen utensils, bottle opener, Washing machine, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, adapters for UK electrical appliances, UK satellite TV, DVD player. Please note that there is NO landline telephone/wifi supplied at the house, however reception for your own mobile broadband is possible – 3 three gives the best reception. WiFi is freely available in Alba (Ask at the Tourist Information Office). Hot water is via instant gas heater (LPG) and heating by wood burning fire and electric radiators. No smoking inside the house. Well behaved pets allowed with prior agreement. Caution: Parents are requested to supervise their children at all times, especially around the pool, steps and balconies. Outside: To the front of the house there is a covered patio with bench seating, dining table and chairs. Private garden to the side of the house with private pool (above ground rigid pool approx.. 7m x 4m x 1.3m) and large sun deck with far reaching views. The sun deck is equipped with loungers and outdoor sofa and armchairs. Also in the garden you will find the BBQ/Prep area and outside eating area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Towels and linen are provided. Final cleaning is included in the price. Tea towels and beach towels are NOT provided.

Most relaxing holiday ever!

This holiday home has everything you could wish for if you want a complete relaxing get away! The drive up the hills into San donato is truly breathtaking and the views you receive on arrival do not disappoint! The house is perfectly well equipped and has all you need for comfortable day to day living. The local area is well stocked with restaurants and local vineyards and the nearby town of Alba has everything, a great hyper market on the outskirts and a fabulous tourist information office in the centre, where the girls all spoke perfect English and were able to sort bike hire our for us, having the bikes delivered to our holiday home and collected from there too. I was unfortunate enough to fall ill whist there and needed to see a doctor for antibiotics, a visit to the local pharmacy in Alba where the girls directed me to a local Red Cross drop in centre , I was seen after a 3 minute wait by two lovely doctors free of charge and given the necessary script which the chemist dispensed for me at a cost of just €3.70 ! We were lucky to have had the hottest temperatures in the two weeks we stayed, 34 - 42 degrees throughout our time in the beautiful piedmont region. The very hot weather did lead to the most spectacular lightning storm one night, being so high up we were right in the storm cloud and got pictures of amazing fork lightning! This house is surrounded by vineyards and hazelnut farms, every vista is a picture postcard! We were particularly impressed with the cost of eating out in the region and living costs in general. We only saw the neighbours at the weekend so mostly had the house to ourselves but Marco spoke perfect English and was most helpful and very friendly. Jennifer was always just a text away from answering any questions I had and was extremely helpful both before our stay with lots of information about the area and during our time in San Donato. I can thoroughly recommend this property and would definitely use it again!

too expensive

Owner's Response: Our pricing compares very favourably with similar properties in the area suitable for 6 guests. The house is accurately described and photographed on this site. Perhaps on this occasion the property was too large/expensive for 2 adults and one child. We did not perceive that a squirrel entering the house was an emergency,and as the squirrel had already been dispatched we apparently responded too slowly for this guest to be happy.

Sehr ruhig gelegene Unterkunft in der Nähe von Alba. Die Betreuung durch die Besitzerin war sehr gut, sehr gute Anfahrtsbeschreibung, einfaches Handling der Schlüsselübergabe. Mit 6 Personen ist der Wohn/Küchen/Essbereich etwas klein. Die Schwankungen der Elektrizität beim Benutzen der Boiler sicher ortsüblich, das Haus sehr sauber. Die Küchenutensilien sind schmal bemessen, sehr nett war es , dass Gewürze, Kaffee, Tee , Toilettenpapier etc. vorhanden waren. Die Pooletage ist wunderbar, der Blick fantastisch. Das Haus ist mit Hund zu mieten, kleine Spaziergänge sind direkt möglich. Das Haus war sehr sauber, einkaufen in Alba gut möglich; dort auch kleines öffentliches Schwimmbad mit Hallenbad- Badekappenpflicht! Man kann das Haus auf jeden Fall empfehlen....der Gas-Backofen ist etwas für Mutige oder Versierte.

A lovely relaxing week was had. The house is immaculate- beautifully equipped and the pool is gorgeous. It is right out in the countryside and has beautiful views all around.It was a little more isolated that we had expected (our first trip to this part of Italy) but the directions to the house and the nearest supermarket ( a very large hypermarket which also has a section for Coeliacs) were impecable and it was very easy to find. We didnt explore much as we wanted a restful week but Alba is close by. We would definitely come back again.

Lovely house, swimming pool and perfect location.

The house was just as expected and the description on owners direct is spot on. We spent the majority of our time at the house which was perfect for the R&R time we all needed. The house instructions were very clear and easy to understand and the hints and tips on where to visit and eat were very helpful.

We arrived late evening flying into Bergamo, the directions were perfect and we had no issues finding the house. However on reflection we would have been better staying in Bergamo and travelling the following morning to arrive after visiting a supermarket.

Our aim of having a relaxing and restful time after a very hectic year for all four of us. Mission accomplished with the help of this lovely house, swimming pool and perfect location.
