About the property

Dog friendly accommodation

Hillcrest Park is our rural, 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners (we have a dog walking field onsite) and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions.

Hillcrest was once a working farm, but the outbuildings have been converted into Holiday Cottages and part of the site is now provided with electric hook up points for Touring Caravans. And, for those who want all the pleasure of camping and outdoorsiness, but without the hassle of wet tents on a windy day, we also have ten timber Camping Pods. Most importantly, we aim to offer all our guests a comfortable, get-away-from-it all, rural retreat. Wi-Fi is available on site.

About Kate Nichols

We (Ed and Kate) have been at Hillcrest Park since March 2011, and have been delighted that many of our visitors return again and again. Ed's local knowledge is pretty comprehensive and we enjoy welcoming people to this beautiful area and providing a peaceful base for them to explore Teesdale and the surrounding Dales.

We live on site and are on hand to help out our guests with anything they may need, but also happy to leave guests to enjoy their break in peace.

Why Kate Nichols chose Yorkshire Dales

Staying in a Camping Pod is a camping experience, only much easier! There is a heater, light and electric inside - but no bed. You'll need to bring all your camping kit - apart from the tent! There is a kitchen facility in the amenity building, with hotplates, microwaves, kettles, toasters and a fridge.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Me, my wife, my 5 year old son and our little 14 week old puppy stayed in a pod for a weekend away. Firstly, Kate and Ed are very welcoming and their hospitality is just incredible. They couldn't make you feel anymore welcome if they tried. We all had such a great time and will definately be returning again this year. Thank you both so much for a fantastic weekend. You haven't lived until you've experienced 'podding' :)" - March 2014

"We have just returned from 2 nights in a family pod that slept 5 comfortably. The showers were immaculately clean and the water was lovely and warm. There was also a small kitchen area with a microwave and a 2 ring hob which you were free to use, this would have been brilliant if it had rained, however we were blessed with sunshine! Kate and Ed were very welcoming and Kate had a wealth of local knowledge that we used to fill our two days. Our pod overlooked the playing field which the children and the dog enjoyed. Would recommend a stay and hopefully we will visit again soon." - April 2014
