Newly Refurbished Mews Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 04-Dec-2016
Cottage in Glasgow, Strathclyde, Scotland - Tranquilly Set In A Quiet Lane In Glasgow's Beautiful Park District, Yet Only Minutes To City Centre

Park Mews is a beautifully refurbished Victorian mews cottage set in a quiet lane just five minutes' walk from Glasgow's famous Kelvingrove Park. Its location is perfect for getting about the city by public transport, as bus and underground stops are very close and the surrounding area has a variety of coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Mackintosh's famous Glasgow School of Art, the University of Glasgow and Scottish Conservatoire are all within easy walking distance as are Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Concert Hall, Scottish Opera and two variety theatres. A link to the M8 is literally round the corner, making it simple for the motorist to travel to any part of Scotland. However Glasgow's two main train stations and bus station are so close that a car is not necessary.

About the Owner

Although just completely refurbished, this property has been owned by my family for over 35 years. It was first bought to be used as business premises for my parents and when it was no longer required they couldn't bear to sell it because of its unique charm and enviable position. I thought it would make a wonderful holiday rental and I'm sure you'll agree if you stay here.

Beautiful, comfortable mews apartment

  • 5 of 5

We (3 adults) have stayed in many VRBO rentals in the last few years. They've all been good, but this was one of the best. It is beautifully renovated with many amenities. The kitchen is well equipped. The kitchen, dining, and living area are spacious and well designed. The area is lovely and convenient. Parking is very convenient and parking vouchers are furnished. The property was very clean and well-maintained, the owner most accommodating, many restaurants, pubs, a small market, within easy walking distance, and buses nearby. We only wish we could have spent more time in this beautiful apartment and in Glasgow. Thanks!

Comfortable, Spacious, Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights in Beth's modern Mews. The Mews is as pictured on the website. You enter from the alley to the downstairs, which has the 2 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and laundry. Upstairs is the living space. We appreciated having a large dining table, the large refrigerator, pots/pans/utensils, the dishwasher, the washer/dryer, TV, and the fast, reliable internet. The location is walking distance to a grocery store, to George's Square (where we met our Hop On/Off Bus and our Highlands tour), and the Royal Concert Hall (where we attended an event). We were met at the Mews by Lis, who so kindly drove my husband back to the Mews from the airport after he dropped off our rental car. Beth is very easy to work with and answers questions immediately. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit. This was a great place to call home!

Immaculate, spacious, home from home

  • 5 of 5

The mews is a fantastic base from which to explore Glasgow and beyond. We were taken aback upon arrival at how spacious this property is, plenty of room for the kids to mess about! It is well designed with contemporary fixtures and fittings, with a great sized, well equipped kitchen. Big bedrooms with plenty of storage, ideal for a long stay with a very stylish en suite and large bathroom. Great to have a bath there especially with young children. And very impressed with the artwork on the walls! As we stayed in February we were concerned about keeping warm with the cold temperature, however, we were not disappointed as the mews was very well heated. The provision of parking permits is ideal and there is plenty of close-by parking spaces.

The mews is very close to a lovely park which is ideal for the kids. Close to the Coffee Pod for morning cappuccino and the occasional bacon butty! Not far from all the West End bars, restaurants and takeaways, must admit we didn't cook with all that on our doorstep!!

Just to add, although the mews is in the heart of Glasgow, you would never know you are in a city as this location is very quiet and peaceful. Perfect half term break, we will definitely return.

A Great Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at one of Beth's properties.

First time in Park Mews, but not the last. It was lovely!! It was everything we hoped for, and more.

We had a very relaxing, enjoyable time in a property that has been finished to a high standard and which is in a very central location.

Thanks for allowing us to stay at Park Mews.

We will definitely be staying again next year.

FIVE STAR

  • 5 of 5

I'm a photographer living in Brooklyn, New York, and I recently travelled to Glasgow on a photographic assignment. I had the pleasure of spending time at Park Mews. What a beautiful property and what an amazing location. I was absolutely blown away and from the moment I arrived I felt very comfortable and happy. Park Mews was bigger than I needed for myself but I felt like a king :) The bedrooms are lovely and the upstairs dining room and living room are breathtaking. Walking around there are gorgeous views of Victorian and Edwardian Glasgow. Kelvingrove park must challenge Prospect Park (Brooklyn) as the most beautiful ever. It's certainly more historic and was about 5-10 minutes' walk from Park Mews through the Park District. The neighborhood that Park Mews is situated in is perfect. The quiet cobbled lane is like stepping back in time and very peaceful but a few blocks away are restaurants, bars and stores. I could walk down half a block and get my coffee each day at a coffee shop called Beanscene which was great. I also enjoyed a curry from Mother India Cafe across the road from The Kelvingrove Art Gallery (stunning!!!!) and Fish and Chips from a wonderful "wee" restaurant called Old Salties. It was a tremendous trip and I will certainly bring my family over to stay at Park Mews in the future and explore amazing Glasgow further.
