About the property

Villa excl pool, 6 sleeps Chianti Peaceful Ancient Original Villa exclusive Use of Pool Park and Garden 20 Minutes from Florence

Our beautiful villa is on a Hill of the Chianti, all surrounded with vineyards fields with a large garden and park. Our pool is Olympic size. Villa la Borghetta is sited on one of the most peaceful place of Chianti. Its setting and its history dates back to Roman times. Here you can enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the famous Chianti wine-growing area, with every kind of modern comfort. On summer days you can enjoy the garden and the huge pool (16x4 m); in the evening you could have dinner under the gazebo on the terrace overlooking the pool and the great Arno-valley, or all around the area in front of the villa next to the lemon-plants. The location is an ideal base for touring Tuscany and its vineyards. Only 20 Minutes from Florence, 30 minutes from Arezzo and 1 hours from Siena for shopping and culture expeditions.

About Cecilia

I am a German-literature teacher, I live and work in Florence. I help my friends Benedetta and Luisa in renting. It is lovely very especial place with a huge private space on the coast that is a wonderful natural space for relaxing and enjoying a special holiday in Toscana.

Cecilia purchased this villa in 1950

Why Cecilia chose Florence Area

It is Benedetta's villa. Her grandparents bought this estate in Tuscany several decades ago. She leaves not there but come somewhen in the week end because she loves Tuscany a lot.

What makes this villa unique

beauty, tranquillity, nature. Historical value of the villa.

Florece and other Tuscany art-towns are easy reachble.

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in the Villa and will be returning again next year.

We had plenty of room for a family of six.

The villa was very clean and the pool was incredible. We enjoyed eating at the many the outdoor tables throughout the day.

The location was excellent to visit local towns but it was hard to leave the Villa. We particularly enjoyed evening walks in the vineyards and olive groves spotting deer and boar.

Thank you Benedetta and Cecilia.

Owner's Response: Dear Caitilin and Robert, thank you so much for your positive review! Benedetta and Luisa will be very glad when they read it. Surely it will be very useful for their future guests to have an idea about the beauty of the Mori Villa and surroundings. We are waiting for you this next summer. Have good days, Cecilia for Benedetta and Luisa

A fantastic villa in a sublime situation

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent the most wonderful two weeks in this beautiful villa in the Tuscan hills. We arrived very late (or rather very early) to be greeted by the lovely Massimo who looks after the property. Despite being woken from his sleep, he showed us all around the villa and even picked us some cherries. As it was dark it was difficult to appreciate our surroundings, but what a wonderful surprise we had in the morning. The views from the villa are glorious and, whatever the weather, never failed to delight. The villa itself was very roomy and well appointed yet also had real old Italian charm. We cooked many of our meals in the kitchen and ate on the terrace, watching the sun set. The pool was an additional bonus. We sunbathed and swam whilst, once again, enjoying the views. The gardens were full of flowers and scented shrubs, attracting butterflies and bees. Both the pool and garden areas were lovingly tended by Massimo. The villa is ideally situated to visit the main Tuscan towns and we drove to Pisa and Siena, but took the train from Figline to Florence. This was an excellent service, taking only 20 minutes, and was cheaper than taking the car. We really can't recommend the villa too highly and we hope very much to return in the not too distant future. Lastly, I should like to thank you, Cecilia, for being so helpful when we were arranging the holiday.

Owner's Response: Dear Heather, I write you in my poor English compared to your nice, beautiful words! I want to thank you and all your friends also for Benedetta. Yesterday I read your review to her and she was very happy. I also will tell it to Massimo as soon as I have the opportunity. I well know that Benedetta's villa and surroundings are wonderful, but it is very nice to read your words and to feel how beautiful your holiday was... I can image your meals on the terrace, watching the sun set, your waking up in the morning in a such place among flowers, butterflies, bees and sunbaths! Thank you so much in the hoping to see you again, ciao Cecilia for Benedetta, too.

truly a wonderful holiday

Hi Cecilia and Benedetta, Thomas and I would like to thank you very much for the use of your beautiful villa. We had a fantastic time. We really enjoyed the peace, nature and tranquillity. Nature above all: When staying in a rural location nature is always present and we delighted to see black squirrels, some wild boar and several hoopoe which we don’t have in the UK. We write a review hoping new guests can read it: the villa is extremely well equipped with comfortable furnishings and beautiful historical decor. The surrounding park and garden are beautiful and well kept. The pool was a welcome sight when we arrived home after a long day driving around Tuscany and Chianti. Location: Hidden away in a wonderful valley just a few kilometers from Florence but centrally located to visit major cities (Florence, Rome, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia) and smaller villages (The whole Chianti area) throughout Tuscany. Great area for wine lovers! There are extraordinary restaurants, vineyards and cultural sites within a short drive away. Thomas and I would recommend this villa without hesitation. We have rented many villas throughout Italy and this is one of our favourites. All worth the trip!Thank you!

Owner's Response: Dearest Miriam and Thomas, Our best thanks for your beautiful words. Benedetta will be very pleased that you liked so much to stay in her villa. She does -at the limits of her ability- her best for the willcome and acceptance of her guests. The rest is simple because of the natural beauty of the place. Hoping you can come again soon in Tuscany, I wish you all the best for your future. Have a good 2015, Cecilia

Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful very large Villa, part dating back to 15th century we were told, the dacor was in keeping with the age of the villa, very tastefully done, with some antique furniture. There were plenty of area's inside and out to find your own quiet place to read, draw or paint. There are beautiful views all around, across vineyards and olive groves to the mountains beyond, most mornings the mist lay in the vallie's, lovely sight. The kitchen was very well equipped except for not having a electric kettle.

The region has had a really wet summer this year and there were a lot of mosquitoes about but all the windows had mosquito nets which kept the house clear which was very good.

Benedetta the owner was very charming and spoke good english showing us around and giving us information on the local area.

Excellent pool facilities changing room with toilet and hot shower, I found the large pool, which had the sun all day, perfect for swimming, but at 1.6 meters deep and no shallow end it would be unsuitable for none swimmers and young children.

To find the villa, I suggest going on google maps and search for Hotel la Borghetta near Figline and Benedetta's villa is 100m away at the top of the hill. (The indicator on the Owners Direct map shows the wrong area).

During our two week stay at the villa we were able to visit Florence, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Monteriggioni and lots of other towns less well known but well worth visiting like Greve in Chianti and the very small medieval village of Montefioralle 2k above Greve.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa in a beautiful part of the world.

WOW !!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful villa with a quite magnificent pool and a dining terrace at the rear with amazing views over the countryside. We had every meal out there with a bit of teamwork and organisation !! If we hadn't , we would have used the splendid dining room with its huge table. The villa itself feels very traditional with its features and colours. We had a lovely welcome and everyone was genuinely concerned that we had a good time , they even went out and bought a fully equipped BBQ when I merely enquired if there was one.

The bedroom layout is a little quirky with the en suite room downstairs , but it fitted our family party just fine.

Its only 10 minutes by car to Figline with all the facilities you need , including a large supermarket , and only a short drive to Florence.
