Overview

About the property

Cottage in Dinas Cross, Nr. Newport Town, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To Its Own Beach

The Coach House is a rustic cottage facing south with wonderful views up over the Preseli Hills. It is in a secluded private farm courtyard at Ffynnonofi Farm, once a location for the John Huston film Moby Dick. The cottage is newly converted with terracotta stone floors, white washed walls, underfloor heating, a cosy wood burner and a large double bedroom with small en suite bathroom. It is superbly located for the Pembrokeshire Coastal path and it has it's own beach minutes walk away across our fields. There are areas to sit in the sun and have a barbecue and seats in sunny spots dotted around the farm buildings and garden. The cottage is spread over two floors. The ground floor is open plan making it a cosy place to prepare food and eat whilst the wood burner is blazing away. There is a desk and 'work area' for those who want to do something creative or maybe catch up with work. The upper floor has a main double bedroom with small en suite and a small rest room (dressing room) off it. There is a larger bathroom with shower and bath on the ground floor. The feel of the cottage is rustic and you'll find old welsh blankets, local slate sills and wooden oak beams rather than neat carpets!

Location

Coast/Beach:

The farm is spread along the coast so the coast can be accessed by walking across our fields. Our own beach Cwm Gwyllog is 350 metres away. The track down to it is a bit tricky and not suitable for the elderly. Pwllgwaelod beach is a 15 minute walk down the coastal path. Aberbach Beach is 20minutes in the other direction. There is a lovely sheltered beach at Cwm Y Eglwys, which is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive. Newport Sands is a long sandy beach 3 miles away, 10 mins by car.

Travel:

Fishguard Harbour is 4 miles away for those crossing to Ireland. There is a railway line there accessing South Wales and London

Distances:

1 mile to Dinas Village, 3 miles to Newport, 4 miles to Fishguard, 14 miles to St Davids.

Further Details:

Please note, even though there are 2 bedrooms, 1 large master bedroom and a small single bedroom, the Coach House is for 2 people only. This makes it ideal for couples (and if one snores, there is always the single bed in the small bedroom!) or 2 friends on a walking holiday. It also makes a good dressing room.

100% compliance to owners description

It is a very comfortable and cosy house with a well equipped kitchen, a wonderful living room, a big bedroom (ensuite) with a comfortable large bed. The bathroom is fine. The interior is of very high quality. The house is very well renovated and carefully modernised under ecological points of view. The surrounding area is wonderful. You are very close to the coastal path with gorgeous views, to Newport or Fishguard etc. We can fully recommend the Coachhouse for staying in Wales. There are only five stars we can give, we would have given more.

A wonderful few days in Pembrokeshire

  • 5 of 5

Accomodatons were terrific, larger than we have come to expect. Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful setting, just a 5 minute walk from the Coastal trail.

Mike was a great host and gave us good ideas for walks in the area.

Would definitely return.

Wonderful bolt hole

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing three day stay. Absolutely perfect cottage in great location. We were able to walk from the front door to the coastal path and explore the surrounding area. Great pub within walking distance (bit of a climb back up but not too difficult!)

Mike made us feel very welcome. Other properties on the farm are beautiful, we were also able to have a look around the Stables Cottage which sleeps more people and that too has been sensitively renovated and would make a great place to stay, we hope to visit with friends later in the year! Larger groups could take both cottages, which we also might do!

All in all the perfect place to get away from it all, to enjoy stunning scenery in a cosy cottage. Kitchen really well kitted out and great produce available from nearby Newport.

Newport also has a couple of pubs, restaurants and cafe's too.

I would highly recommend!

Lovely place, beatiful scenery, wonderful owners.

  • 5 of 5

The house is situated on a Farm, about 10 minutes from Newport, Pembrokeshire and 5 from Dinas Cross. We stayed with my husband for 4 nights and would of stayed more.

Its a minute from a beautiful walking coastal path that takes you along the Pembrokeshire Coast for miles and miles, and 3 minutes from a private beach that the farm has. The house is charming, it has everything you need and within a beautiful landscape. The house is sustainable in the usage of cleaning products and local wind electricity, which is one more reason to recommend it.

Aradhana and Mike (the owners) were extremely nice and helpfull in all that we needed.

Will definitely go again and do recommend.
