Good chalet for large group skiing
We were a group of 13 friends - mixture of adults, teens and children. Accommodation was good, spacious and comfortable living / sitting area, great dining table that we could all sit around, nice hot tub, clean, well presented bedrooms, good showers. Location is slightly below Alpe D'Huez main centre, meaning that either a car is needed or you are reliant on free shuttle bus (runs once per hour) to get to shops, ski lifts etc. Overall, a great place for a large group to stay for a skiing holiday at Alpe D'Huez.

5 start plus
The chalet was just superb. Impeccably clean, nice and spacious and you really provided us with all our needs so beautifully. The view from the balcony and porch are breath-taking and we just did not want to leave!! No words would ever be enough to thank you. We would definitely book again and are so grateful to Tim and Sara for their care and warmth! You could really feel it in the chalet!!

We was here for tomorrowland winter festival, experience really was 5/5. Chalet is really nice, view from the hot tub, BUT the really best thing was host/catering service! Foods were really good, but hosts Abby&Paul were even better! It almost felt like they belong to our group after few days 😅 And after meal they drive u to slopes. I can only recommend this, have fun! -Erkki Lohela

Another amazing week
Another fantastic week at Mountain Chalet. This is my 3rd visit in 2 years, the place is amazing. Chalet is warm comfortable and with wholesome home cooked meals and knowledgeable welcoming hosts is the perfect base for your alpine adventure. The resort its self has something to offer for everyone from the powder hounds searching for off piste perfection to the easy greens and beginners slopes, this makes it perfect for large mixed ability groups. I will be back again and again...maybe even for a 3rd week late season this year....honestly its that good :)

About the host

Hosted by Tim Ferguson

Host profile image
Tim is a BASI qualified snowboard instructor, a MIAS Mountain Bike trainer and assessor and a British Cycling Road Cycling Coach. In his words "I live for the mountains...summer & winter"
Sara is a former elite athlete having competed for England on the track & as a Fell Runner. Sara now concentrates on beasting Tim up anything hilly!
Cat is our daughter, currently aged 15 she is racing Road, CX, MTB and Track bikes both and is giving everything to become a pro cyclist when she gets older, whilst in the winter Cat slalom ski races. Having to forever wait for Mum & Dad, Cat has also turned to the dark side and has started to snowboard too. She is already annoying her Dad, better technique learnt in 3 days, although Dad is her instructor and therefore claims all the credit!!

Why they chose this property

We love skiing and cycling. Its the ALPS!!!

In the winter Tim snowboards, Sara skis and Cat does both.
In the summer Tim mountain bikes - both XC and downhilling. In July 2018 Tim won the masters category of the Megavalanche. Tim also road bikes, spending each summer 'Col Bagging' and trying to keep up with Sara.
Sara sticks fervently to her road bike, but she is ferocious. Sara is the only person we know who is disappointed when she gets to the top of a steep & gnarly climb.
Cat road bikes and mountain bikes. As a flat track racer, the hills are just for training purposes. Downhilling is fast becoming another of Cats passions though. The downhill trails in ADH are wicked.
But added to this are an amazing array of other good fun stuff. As a family we to the via ferrata each summer, rock climb on the hundreds of bolted sport routes, white water raft, stand up paddle board, wind surf on the lake, swim gym and climb in the sports centre and ice skate in the summer on the outdoor rink.

What makes this property unique

Ski Chalet in the Winter - whats not to like? Come and try Alpe d'Huez for yourself and see what a fab fab resort it is.
ADH has the most amazing array of stuff to do, read on....
Golf Course - we don't play, but other guests have done!
Football & Rugby pitches - summer camps for kids happen in August
Sports Centre - an incredible gym, spinning classes, under water spinning classes, table tennis, indoor climbing wall, swimming pool and a lot more
Ice Rink - outside
Outdoor Swimming Pool - heated and open summer and winter
X Fly - they have a zip wire, jump air bag, high ropes climbing tower and maze crawl
Horse riding - summer only
Husky Dog Sledding - winter only
Skiddoo Trekking - winter only
Stand Up Paddleboarding, Wind Surfing, Canoeing & Pedalo's - summer only
Via Ferrata - some of the most amazing sections, over 250 metes high sitting above the Sarenne Gorge.
Climbing - hundreds and hundreds of bolted sport routes.
Mountain Biking - downhilling in the summer, the lifts are open, its a gravity sport.
Mountain Biking XC - hundreds and hundreds of kilometres of trails. A year in ADH wouldn't be enough.
Road Biking - ADH is the MECCA for roadies. The famous 21 Hairpins of Tour de France fame is the pinnacle, but add to that the Col du Galibier, Col du Lauteret, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col de Glandon, Col d'Ornon, Col de Sarenne and the list goes on and on and on
White Water Rafting - summer only
Massage and Spa Centre
Fabulous shopping: Rip Curl, Napapijri, Superdry to name but a few
Awesome bars and restaurants: The O Bar, Smithies, The Underground, The Sphere Bar, Freerider and many many more
ADH has its own glacier too: the Sarenne Glacier, making it as snow sure as it can be. In the summer the Megavalanche - the worlds premier downhill enduro mountain bike race starts on the glacier. 2000 downhillers race on the snow before trails lower down the mountain.
In the winter the Sarenne Glacier provides the longest Black run in Europe.
