The house is located in a quiet rural location on the edge of a pretty village with its own small supermarket, boulangerie and bar. It is close to small market towns with supermarkets, banks, restaurants, bars and shops. There are several historic towns within half an hours drive where you can shop or simply find a nice cafe or restaurant to watch the people go by when you have your fill of art and culture. If a beach holiday is what you are looking for there are dozens of beautiful beaches within easy range some with restaurants and small cafes and others on the edge of larger towns. If golf is your thing the courses at St Cast le Guido and Plelan St Michel are nearby.

About the Owner

My husband and I own a charming rural house on the edge of the village of Megrit. We have used it as a holiday home for ourselves, our family and friends on a regular basis throughout the year. We even got snowed in one Christmas! Now we are both retired we have decided to rent the property so that others can enjoy this beautiful part of Brittany.

We chose this location in 1995 because of its convenient location with easy access to ports and the airport. The local towns and villages are a hive of activity with traditional festivals every weekend. When we want to relax it is an easy journey to the local beaches.

We had a wonderful stay in a peaceful and beautiful area within easy distance of places of interest.

The property was very comfortable and the instructions from the owners re. utilities etc were very clear. Their booklet was superb letting us know about local facilities and places of interest. Well positioned for places such as St Malo, Dinan, Dinard and Josselin. We spent a wonderful 8 days at the seculded rural hideaway. Thank you Julie and Cedric!

Grsat holiday spot

We had a great time at Les Vaux Morans. It is in a lovely, secluded setting and is just a half hour trip to lots of beautfiful beaches. The owners Julie and Cedric are very friendly and helpful, ready to answer all our queries, and the house is perfect for a visit with small kids.

Highlights were the mediaeval town of Dinan and (even better) the nearby Abbey at Lehon, collecting clams for dinner from the beach at St Jacut, and seeing the goats being milked at a farm just on the doorstep. Oh, and Kouign Amman.

Thoroughly recommended!

Lovely cottage in a secluded location

This house is absolutely lovely, the owners have made it a lovely rental cottage that is like home from home. The property is about half an hour away from lots of different beautiful beaches, and the city of Dinan (approx 15 mins away) is absolutely lovely with lots of art galleries. The owners were very accessible and incredibly helpful with their welcome pack. Will definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks

Nice comfortable home in quiet location

Nice location with large garden. Well equipped and clean. Plenty of books,games and DVDs for all tastes/ages. Good sized bedrooms. Lovely sitting room with plenty of seating. Wifi was great as was satellite chanels ( not all but enough) and parking. Weather was unkind but that's pot luck.

Location

We had spent several family summers holidays in Brittany and Normandy. We decided eleven years ago to buy a house and the location we looked at had to be reasonably near to a ferry port and and airport so that Julie could visit for long weekends. We also wanted to be able to visit the beach easily and yet have towns and cities nearby that provided a mix of culture, shopping and beaches. The weather, a bit warmer than home also helps. We have had some very hot summers recently and equally been snowed in once over the Christmas holidays. Our children and grandchildren now regularly holiday at the house and love the easy access to the various activities and gorgeous beaches.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Broons at 7 Kilometres Nearest Train : Broons at 7 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Broons at 7 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Jugon le Lac at 9 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

There are a range of beaches within 35 minutes drive such as St Cast le Guildo, St Jacut de Mer, Erquy to the North and Dinard and St Malo to the East.

Val Andre & St Briac Beaches are approx 40 minutes away.

The famous oyster port of Cancale is about half an hour away and Mont St Michel is an hour away.

Travel:

Dinard airport is half an hour away. In season there are regular flights to Stansted and East Midlands. In the winter the flights are only to Stansted. The nearest ferry port is St Malo (35 minutes) but Caen and Cherbourg are two to two and a half hours away. A car is essential and may be hired from Dinard airport.

Distances:

The centre of Megrit is five minutes away with a small Vival community shop. Broons with cafes, weekly market on Wednesdays, restaurants, banks, a post office and large supermarkets is 7 km. Dinan with a full range of shops, weekly market Thursdays and a medieval centre is 30 minutes away. The walled city of St Malo is 35 minutes away. The capital of Brittany, Rennes, is 40 minutes. The pretty town of Jugon le Lac is 9 km with small shops,a weekly market on Friday, restaurants and two banks.

Further Details:

Supermarkets: Vival in Megrit, Intermarche and Super U in Broons, Leclerc, Carrefour and Lidl in Dinan

Banks: These can be found in the centre of Broons, Jugon, Plelan le Petit and all the larger cities.

Restaurants: There are several small restaurants in Broons, Jugon and Plelan and an enormous range in Dinan, Lamballe, St Malo and Rennes. We leave business cards for ones we have enjoyed in all these places.

At the height of the season there are traditional dance and music festivals in Jugon and other small towns ranging up to the two day Fete de Ramparts in the third weekend of July. There are also agricultural shows especially in august where you can see vintage tractors, bread making, ox ploughing etc. Ask at the local tourist information office for details or look for the advertisements.

Sailing, kayaking in the lake as well as swimming in the outdoor and indoor pools and water aerobics are available at the campsite in Jugon le Lac. Ring the reception desk or visit the site to find availability (they speak excellent English).

The whole area is ideal for fishing or walking holidays.

A riding school at Plelan le Petit is approx fifteen minutes driving distance

The house is ideally situated with beautiful beaches such as St Jacut de Mer within easy reach as well as the capital of Rennes and the city of Dinan with its medieval centre. The location is very tranquil with the lane ending at our house. Wildlife abounds, deer graze in our garden from time to time and we have a buzzard living in a tree half way up the lane. There is a large patio area, with table and chairs, sun loungers, fire pit, BBQ, blankets and patio games. There are a number of toys, books and games in the house. We have Wifi access.
