Fantastic location

  • 3 of 5

We found Honfleur absolutely delightful and the cottage so conveniently placed. It was good not to have to use the car and to be able to walk everywhere. A few things could make this lovely retreat just a bit better. We didn't have anywhere comfortable to sit inside - the two armchairs were painfully uncomfortable - maybe a small comfy sofa instead? We realise this could be difficult as the cottage is very small but it could work with some re-arrangement. Whilst it's nice to sit outside, we found, as did our neighbours, that there was no privacy. Maybe a trellis in between? This is a simple and attractive solution that could work well. Our comments are meant to be constructive - all in all, we enjoyed our stay .

Owner's Response: Hello Lynda, Thank you for your review and glad that you enjoyed your stay. We always welcome comments as it is a way to improve what we offer in the cottage. We are planning to replace the armchairs and will also be adding more trellis in the garden. Thank you, John & Anne

wonderful idillic setting in the middle of a historic small town

  • 4 of 5

After a very long drive from Lancaster to Homfleur , all in one go- I would suggest taking the ferry to La Harve, we arrive in the middle of the night without access to the app with information. I would suggest to get everything printed out with key code. We nearly gave up, but eventually got into the cottage. What a lovely surprise.! The cottage was really well equipped and very pretty. it was so convenient to walk into town and all the nearby attractions. We had some nice outings too and the weather was good. A plus was that our neighbours was so friendly and we had a BBQ together. We will definitely be coming back.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

Having spent a week in this cottage, I must say it was very impressive and a perfect place for two people. The cottage was very well appointed, very comfortable and in a perfect quiet location (considering it was only a short walk into the town centre).

The information supplied by the owners was spot on and they were very helpful.

The cottage was well equipped with everything you could possibly need and I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Honfleur itself was a very pretty town with a lovely harbour and plenty of good restaurants. The only thing I would say about the restaurants is that they are very seafood orientated but as I love seafood that was fine by me! There are also lots of other options.

Honfleur is in a very good location and within fairly easy reach of Caen, bayeux and the Normandy beaches and the many memorials and museums.

All in all a lovely relaxing holiday.

Bijou excellence in Honfleur!

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a week in Apple Tree Cottage in Honfleur. We have been renting gites in France for well over 30 years now and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly in that time. Apple Tree Cottage turned out to be one of our very best finds. It has only been renovated recently and to a very high standard. Immaculate is a fully justifiable description. It is small, just right for a couple, and the decor and fittings are tasteful and relaxing. Ours was a summer visit but we are sure that in the colder weather it would be a very snug and cosy refuge. The garden is contained and includes secure parking. Honfleur town and the old harbour are just a ten minute walk away and the nearest supermarket is only five minutes. Honfleur is an attractive and bustling town with many art shops and a great choice of restaurants. Etretat, Bayeux, Caen, Falaise and Arromanches are all within reach.

Mr and Mrs Walker are congenial hosts keen to ensure that their visitors enjoy their stay. We recommend their cottages and Honfleur without reservation and we look forward to returning in the very near future.

Lovely Cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a great week staying in Apple Tree Cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well equipped with an excellent shower and a very comfortable bed !! Being only a 5 minutes walk from the harbour where numerous cafes, restaurants etc can be found the cottage is well located. A Carrefour supermarket is a few minutes walk also a short walk on the Rue de la Republique is a boulangerie; the bread is yummy ! The outside space of the cottage is very peaceful, a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine, eat Al Fresco or just sit and read. Honfluer is a good base to visit the Normandy Beaches, take the coast road. A easy drive to Giverny home of Claude Monet is well worth a visit, just an hour and half car ride. If you like "fish" head for Trouville sur Mer, fantastic fish market. You can see from the "before" photograph hanging in the cottage that the cottage has been renovated with thought and attention, well done Mr & Mrs Walker.
