Tucked away in private woodland on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, this luxurious designer tree-house will blow you away!! The lodge is built on stilts to make the most of the tree-lined views, and offers space, seclusion and quality throughout. You have your own private inbuilt sauna; a hot tub on the outside decking; a 60" SMART TV, and a PlayStation 4 with DVD and Blu-ray. Although set in quiet grounds, you are only four miles from the picturesque market town of Helmsley with its many delightful shops and places to eat, and are very close to the stunning North York Moors, ideal for walking, mountain biking and road cycling. The lodge is open all year round and benefits from a large wood-burner (starter logs provided) as well as underfloor heating so is warm and cosy whatever the weather.

About Ed Fawcett

Studford Lodge is on a small independent holiday site owned and run by the Fawcetts, a long-established family in the area. Brothers Rob and Ed Fawcett had the idea of transforming some of their own woodland into unique self-catering holiday accommodation that combined green technologies with designer living. They approached eco-designer Simon Spence to help turn their vision into reality. The lodge is fuelled by an eco-friendly biomass boiler and is built entirely from timber, much of it locally-grown sustainable larch.

Notes on accommodation: The lodge is on a small, quiet site with five other similar properties. There is a small reception manned during office hours and the site is protected with a coded security barrier. Outside: Guests have free use of the surrounding private woodland for walking but are asked to stick to the designated footpaths. Smoking, eating, drinking and barbecuing are not allowed in the woodlands for safety reasons, but are permitted on the decking area. Utility Room: There is a separate boot room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board as well as plenty of space for storing and drying outdoor gear. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: White towels and bathrobes provided for indoor use. Green towels provided for use with the hot tub and outside on the decking. The hot tub is cleaned daily at no extra charge. Mid-stay cleans can be provided, if required, by separate arrangement. Other: The outside decking area is equipped with comfortable garden furniture and sun loungers with outside towels provided. The hot tub is large enough for 6 people and is available for your own exclusive use throughout your stay. Electric BBQ also available.

Bradford Airport (47 miles). Studford can be reached by public transport but the nearest rail stations are at Thirsk (13 miles) and York (19 miles) and the nearest bus station 4 miles away. A car (or bicycle!) is recommended to make the most of your stay.


York is 19 miles; Thirsk 13 miles, Ampleforth 4 miles and Helmsley 4 miles.

The owner of the lodge also has a pub - The Fairfax Arms at nearby Gilling East which serves excellent home cooked food. Visitors to the lodge are offered a free chauffeur service to and from the pub if they are booked in at The Fairfax for an evening meal.

Booking Notes:
Bookings are for a minimum of three nights throughout the year, with full weeks only in high season. Shorter stays are offered by request during high season subject to late availability. There is a 25% deposit required on booking with the full balance due 6 weeks before the arrival date. Bookings taken less than 3 weeks before the arrival date must be paid for in full.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are flexible. Guests are asked to vacate the lodge by 10am on the day of departure. Arrival times are usually from 4pm but this can be sometimes be earlier by arrangement during quieter periods.

Notes on prices:
Studford Lodge has just three seasonal tariffs - low, mid and high season. When a booking falls over two seasons the higher tariff is charged. Please see the owner's website for prices for stays less than 7 nights (offered in low and mid season and in high season if available). Stays of 7+ nights are charged at the weekly rate plus a charge per additional night, starting at £175 per night.
