Modern Farmhouse set in rural countryside of Manche, Normand close to the beaches.

La Maison du Normandy is a recently renovated farmhouse located in a fantastic country setting with a good sized, south facing terrace and garden. It is located on a local country lane with five double bedrooms, a large, comfortable living room with a fully equipped modern kitchen. Boasting many of the original features such as exposed beams, the house sleeps 10. It can easily accommodate families with little ones to older children from young couples to older persons. The ground floor has 2 large double bedroom (fitted with double beds that can be changed to single beds) and en suite for persons that find climbing stairs difficult. Located in the quiet village of Le Mesnil Rainfray, 6km from St Hiliare du Harcouet or 22 km from Avranches and it's local breaches the house is perfectly located to avail of some of Normandy’s best attractions. Located less than 75 minutes from either Caen or St Malo ferry port. Less than 60 minutes from Renne Airport. Sleeps 10 people in 5 bedrooms all with en suites.

Please note: For the enjoyment of future guests we do not allow animals in or on the property and smoking is not allowed within the house.

We do not accept single sex groups, families and couples only.

About Steven head

We retired very early in life after selling our business in the UK. We decided to move to this area because it reminded us of growing up in Cornwall in the 1960/70's where we came from.

Steven head purchased this house in 2007

Why Steven head chose Manche

Everything about this area is gentle and quiet. Life is very laid back and everything takes time. Shops close on Sunday and most of Monday morning. The people are kind and friendly and the beaches are to die for!

We live on site in another of the properties, so if you need help or advice we are here if you need us.

What makes this house unique

La Fortais has just been completely refurbished with everything finished to a standard we would expect on holiday. We believe you don't have to give up modern living to stay in the countryside. So we have UK and French TV. Internet, plenty of parking in a safe and secure location.

Outside: The house faces South and enjoys sun from early morning until late into the evening. Our patio is laid to gravel with a small grass area and then decking to the large outdoor private swimming pool. A charcoal BBQ is provided along with large outdoor table and chairs. There are large open area's surrounding the property from children to play safely. All the property is enclosed with fencing. . Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen is supplied and on 2 week stays, a change of linen and towels is supplied if requested.

Excellent farmhouse well equipped very friendly owners

The village is lovely and the property outstanding in every way. The weather was mixed but didn't impact our enjoyment. Nearby Avranche is lovely but the best large town is granville. The property was very well equipped and clean. We would recomend without hesitation

Charmante maison à la campagne

Très bon séjour dans cette grande maison très bien équipée. 5 chambres avec SDB et placards. Grand salon avec cheminée et cuisine toute équipée. L'extérieur avec la grande terrasse et la piscine sont parfait pour profiter du soleil normand!

La maison est très isolée, pas de voisins, juste les proprio qui vivent dans le bâtiment à cotés. Il s'agit d'un couple d'anglais très accueillants, arrangeants et disponibles.

Merci pour ce séjour, je recommande vivement cette location!

West coast sandy white beaches are just 30 minutes away by car. The beaches start close to Avranches and run the entire coast to cherbourg nearly 120 km away.

d-day landing beaches on the east coast are approx 90 minutes drive.

in both cases the beaches are beautiful white/golden sand with excellent car parking close to the beach and great facilities.

St Malo ferry port - Less than 75 minutes

Renne airport - less than 60 minutes


Nearest town is St Hiliare du Harcouet, Avranches, Vire and Domfront.

There are many attractions in the area,

for the young there is a water park, L'Ange Michel just 20 minutes away or Village Enchanted, 15 minutes away or a large park in St Hiliare.

For older children localing there is canoeing or sailing.

Generally, the area is excellent for cycling, walking and sightseeing.

The village is served by several local bakers and grocery shops with 2 large supermarkets in St Hiliare du Harcouet and 5 in Avranches.

The area is full of local restaurants and several takeaways like McDonald's if you can't do without you burger fix!

The local restaurants serve pizzas, steak, English menu's and traditional French.
