About the property

Cottage in Woodstown, Co. Waterford, Ireland - A Hideaway For A Quiet Week Or Two, To Write Or Paint Or Walk Or Do Nothing

The Coach House which is situated in Woodstown, is on the beautiful Suir river estuary in Co. Waterford, Ireland. It is located in 4 acres of quiet woodlands just five minutes walk from Woodstown and Forenaught beaches and only ten minutes drive from the picturesque fishing village of Dunmore East. Whether you want a hideaway for a quiet week or two, to write or paint or walk or do nothing, or if you wish to base yourself in a centrally located coastal area ideally positioned for local touring, this is the place for you. The restoration and refurbishment of the Coach House at Mount Alto was completed in 2008 to a very high quality standard of finish which is maintained by continuous improvement. The unit is heated by oil-fired under floor heating and also has a solid fuel Stanley wood burning stove. Water heating is by central heating and electric immersion heater. An external enclosed private patio is accessible from the lower living area. Broadband internet (WiFi) is provided free for normal internet usage excluding movies or large file downloading. The accommodation is a smoke free zone. Also we regret that we are unable to cater for pets.

Highly recommended

Brendan and Jean made us feel very welcome on arrival, they had several little extras (wine, amazing home made bread, milk and eggs), the house was very well equipped. It was very clean and had all you would need for holiday, unfortuntely we could not stay the full week and were sad to go so soon. Woodstown beach is just a short walk away and duncannon, dunmore, tramore and watrford very close by. Highly recommedned.

Best Of All

  • 5 of 5

We travelled southern Ireland over three weeks and stayed at five properties. The Coach House was the best accommodation of all! The setting is quiet and secluded but with easy access to the beautiful Woodstown Strand, Dunmore East and Waterford. The Coach House has been renewed inside with all the modern conveniences and amenities to make one's stay a true pleasure. The exterior's charm has been preserved giving visitors a real sense of history. Brendan and Jean are wonderful hosts providing assistance if needed but leaving guests privacy to enjoy this charming property. The starter package of wine, eggs, soda bread and butter were much appreciated. Put the Coach House on your itinerary. Thanks Brendan and Jean!

We were greeted by Brenden and Jean which were really sweet people. And took care of us. I would come again to stay here. We wished we would've stayed longer on our trip

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

The coach house is a peaceful retreat.

Brendan and jean are the perfect hosts - we couldn't find the house so Brendan came to meet us!

The decor is relaxing and very clean and fresh.

There are two courtyards and despite grotty weather we sat outside as often as possible listening to birdsong. Coach house is about 500m from wood stone beach - a wide expanse of sand and tiny shells.

We ate in all nights - there is good shopping in Waterford not far away.

Lunchtimes we ate out and became chowder experts!

The welcome pack including wine and home made bread was indeed welcome. Jean has given me the bread recipe which I hope to try in a couple of days.

We would recommend this as a great escape in relaxing surroundings.

Want a beautiful quiet retreat? This is it!

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped, brilliantly renovated retreat in a picturesque, secure setting. Walks on the beach close by, with your own private sunny enclosures for relaxation make this a great place to get away from it all, yet not far from Waterford City and picturesque Dunmore E. Thank you Jean and Brendan for graciously welcoming us with wine and supplies that made settling in pleasant and unhurried.
