Bungalow in Rhosneigr, Anglesey, North Wales - Peaceful Location, 2 Minute Walk To Beach And 5 Minutes To Shops And Restaurants

Erw Wen (meaning White Acres) is a short walk to either Broad Beach, Town Beach or Maelog Lake. Whilst the bungalow is situated in a peaceful spot in Rhosneigr, you are very close to the beaches, shops and restaurants. Erw Wen has full central heating, an open fire in the lounge and unlimited hot water -

it is very cosy. Rhosneigr is famed for its water sports whether it’s sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, kayaking or fishing with tuition available if you are a beginner or looking to refine your technique. But there is so much more and this house is the perfect base to make the most of everything there is to offer in Rhosneigr and in the surrounding area. A short walk down Chelford Close brings you to the edge of the sand dunes and to a safe sandy beach perfect for games with the children or walking the dog. There is also an 18 hole golf course, bowling green and tennis court close-by, or you can walk to the village and enjoy the shops (general stores, Gecko, Fat Face, Fun Sport) cafes, bars and restaurants or you can just relax in the secluded garden. Erw Wen has been carefully refurbished and has a modern open plan kitchen, living and dining area and has been carefully designed and furnished to make it the perfect place for family and friends to get together and enjoy every moment of a seaside holiday. The interior of the house is practical and comfortable with every modern appliance to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. The floor to ceiling windows in the main living area provide lovely views to the decked patio area and into the large lawned garden – perfect for small children and dogs. Patio table and chairs are provided, so you can enjoy the large, secluded garden. The kitchen features an electric oven with microwave, ceramic hob, large fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a separate lounge, which has a comfy sofa and chairs set around an open fire, with TV and DVD player. The main bathroom has a bath, shower over the bath, washbasin & toilet. There is also a shower room with a walk in shower and toilet and there is an outside shower to rinse off the sand. There are two double bedrooms with double beds and the third has full size bunk beds. All bedrooms have wardrobes and chest of drawers. There is gas central heating, which means that you can enjoy Erw Wen all year round. Constant hot water is always available.

Why Elaine Alexander chose Rhosneigr

We bought Erw Wen as we have visited Rhosneigr many times to walk on the beach and go body boarding in the waves. We loved the village, it has lots to do and plenty of different places to eat and everyone is so friendly - so when we decided to buy a holiday home, it was the obvious choice.

We looked at several houses in Rhosneigr before visiting Erw Wen - even as we walked up the drive, we both said that this was the one!

It was close to the beach (close enough to walk down in your wet suit!) and close enough to the village, that my 11 year old can go to the shops to get an ice cream by herself.

Anglesey has so many great places to visit, that we still haven't seen everything yet.

What makes this bungalow unique

Erw Wen is in a great location - peaceful even at the height of summer yet close to the beach and shops.

The back garden is very secluded and it's lovely to sit on the deck and just relax with a drink & a good book.

We had a fabulous holiday and the house was lovely, we really did feel comfortable there. We felt so settled we could easily have stayed another week.

It is in a fabulous location, the beach is on the doorstep and it is easy to get around everywhere from there. We had a wonderful time, made especially so by the weather, it dispelled my memories of wet holidays in Wales with my parents when I was younger!

The kids have already said they want to come back again next year, and I am sure the dogs would agree too, they loved the walks on the beach and in the dunes.

Dear Elaine,

Just to say a very big thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cottage. We all had a wonderful week in style and comfort there. The children in particular thoroughly enjoyed themselves, from playing on the swing and watching the birds feeding to playing some of the various games from the cupboard and watching the open fire burn brightly. They, like the oldies, also enjoyed the walks to and along the beaches and flying their kites.

Everybody had a good night's sleep in the comfortable beds after each busy day the good weather allowed us to enjoy outdoors.

So once again, many thanks and here's hoping we can take advantage of your hospitality in the not-too-distant future.

There is a barbeque available, so you can make the most of the sunshine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are provided. Please bring your own beach towels. The property is cleaned and fresh linen and towels provided on changeover day.

Lovely Cottage in a beautiful place

We stayed at the cottage for just under a week beginning of October. The Cottage is lovely, easy to find , ample parking, very well equipped with everything you could need during your holiday stay on Anglesey. Elaine made us feel very welcome - she had a little hamper ready for our arrival with Tea, Coffee, Milk, Biscuits and even the fireplace was ready to use filled with logs. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms nice and modern. The Lounge had a TV with Freeview, plenty of DVDs to watch should the weather be not so nice. We only made breakfast at the Cottage and went out for the day, also eating out in several lovely locations.

We would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone especially families wanting to stay in or around Rhosneigr .

A nice little bungalow offering great living accommodation with the large open plan extension to the rear. A private and enclosed garden perfect for the dog. Just a short walk to Rhosneigr, several beaches, coastal walks and local amenities including the Oyster Catcher which was a great place to eat and drink (again dog friendly)

Would definitely recommend and would certainly consider another visit in the future

Beautiful bungalow really well equipped perfect location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Erw Wen inspite of the cold weather. The children (young & old!!) and dogs had such fun in the snow. Elaine and the properties caretakers were quick to react when the freezing winds caused problems with the boiler, making sure it was back in service very quickly. We would definitely like to return.

A 2 minute walk to Broad Beach and 5 minute walk to Town beach.

Broad Beach - Wide, sandy beach with rock pools at either end. Used for canoeing, surfing and walking.

Broad Beach is a regular Green Coast Award winner

Town Beach - Popular with watersports enthusiasts, notably windsurfers and sailors. Town Beach is safe, sandy and close to the shops and amenities of the village.

Dogs are welcome on the beaches all year round.


Rhosneigr railway station is a 10 minute walk from Erw Wen. There are also regular buses through the village to Holyhead and Llangefni.

There are 2 general stores in the village, so a car is not essential.


Rhosneigr village centre is a 5 minute walk away and has shops, restaurants, bars, takeaways, cafes, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office, surf hire shop.

Aberffraw - Rhosneigr's neighbour, this former Capital of Wales offers many walks and nearby ancient sites. Home of the Llys Llewelyn countryside heritage centre. Just south of Rhosneigr on the A4080 coast road.

Further Details:

Conditions at Rhosneigr and in the surrounding area are well known to be some of the best in the UK for both windsurfing and surfing. The prevailing south-westerly wind brings cross-on shore conditions to Rhosneigr and high waves can be perfect for riding and jumping.

Cycling - The area around Rhosneigr consists for miles of undulating farmland and countryside, riddled with lanes and farm tracks. Cycling through this landscape is thoroughly enjoyable and with a little forward planning you can avoid even moderately busy roads.

Anglesey Sea Zoo - Large displays of Marine Life. Shop, restaurant and plenty of activities for the kids. Very popular. Located in Brynsciencyn, SW Anglesey and well signposted from the A4080

Beaumaris - Name derived from the French "beau" (beautiful) and "maree" (sea place). Small historic and picturesque village on the Menai Strait. Edwardian Castle, Old Gaol, Museum of Childhood and annual arts festival among it's attractions.

2 miles east of Menai Bridge on the A505.

Holyhead Mountain - Visit South Stack lighthouse and birdwatching station. Impressive views and a must for ornithologists. Also ancient hill fort and prehistoric hut circles.

Follow the A5 towards Holyhead and then follow signs.

Pili Palas - Butterfly Palace

Walk through tropical butterfly house, creepie-crawlie gallery, cuddly animals and more. Excellent for kids!

Between Britannia and Menai Bridges on Anglesey. Well signposted.

Booking Notes:
The bungalow is available primarily for weekly lets but shorter breaks may be made by arrangement in low season.
Rates vary depending on time of year and Bank Holidays. (See the chart below)

A deposit of £150 is due at the time of booking and converts to a security deposit at the start of your holiday. The security deposit is returned within 7 days, as long as the cottage has been left tidy with no damage.

Changeover Day:
For weekly bookings our normal changeover day is Friday. Weekends available off season. Cleaning will be done between 10am and 4pm, so departures need to kindly vacate by 10am and arrivals after 4pm please. Alternative timings by arrangement.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
