Apartment in Caldes D´Estrac, near Barcelona, Spain - Peace and Nature. Village Cafes. the Beach. Access to the City - This Apartment Truly Has It All!

A two /three bedroom apartment in "La Casa de Fusta", a unique Spanish National Heritage property set in extensive, wild gardens with vast panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Two minutes walk from the historical thermal village of Caldes D´Estrac, ten minutes walk from the beach, and ten minutes walk to Caldes D´Estrac train station (with Barcelona just 45 minutes away). There is a lounge with two sofa beds, and the possibility of hiring an upstairs ensuite room, so accommodation is plentiful. Apart from the fully equipped kitchen, there are two places where you can sit around and chat - one inside, and one outside (with sea view, of course). Close to the comfortable beach with showers and shops nearby..

The appartment was clean and a lovely welcome with a flower on the towel

As a suggestion i would recomment some decent cutlery in the kitchen

and maybe some better/new matrasses for a good night rest

If you want to stay somewhere with a warm welcome, feels like home and has a character all of its own, consider this property.

Its ideal for the beach which is 10 minutes walk away- it is on a hill however, so be prepared to get some exercise!

Its also 10 minutes walk from the train station, so Barcelona is within easy distance,so you do not necessarily need a car which was a criteria for our holiday.

The apartment itself is comfortable and clean yet a little quirky so do not expect state of the art mod cons, but if you like staying somewhere with a bit of interest and history you will enjoy this place. We spent an afternoon wandering around the wilderness garden.

Mark and Elisabeth could not have been more welcoming and helpful and were one of the reasons why we enjoyed our stay.

Will definitely be returning.

We love this property which was the Swiss Pavillion in the 1929 World Exhibition is Barcelona - and then transferred up the coast to Caldes D´Estrac, where it is today. It is a National Heritage building, full of character, set in several hectares of private forest and wild gardens, with absolutely amazing views over the Mediterranean!

The beach is a 10 minutes walk away. You can see it from the property. There are lots of lovely little cafes and restaurants along the seafront. The beaches are wide and clean, and there is a Nudist section at one end of the village.


By Air: you can arrive in Barcelona (Reus), Barcelona (Prat), or Barcelona (Girona) - and then reach us by train, or coach. We are happy to help with timetables, if need be.

By Car: you take the Caldes D´Estrac exit on the C32 motorway, turn right towards Caldes D´Estrac, then left at the first roundabout (that´s the lane where you´ll find "La Casa de Fusta"


It´s a two minute walk down into Caldes D´Estrac, a 30 minute drive to Barcelona (45 to 50 minutes in the train). There are endless lovely villages along the coast, each with their own flavour. And if you go inland the National Park (Montnegre and Corredor) is 15 minutes away.

Apart from being a stunning property it is within easy reach of the shops and cafés and beach - and a ten minute walk from the train station (to Barcelona, and wherever else you might like to go). So you don´t even need a car while you´re here. (We´d be happy to pick you up and return you with your luggage to the train station.

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps between 4 to 6 (2 Bedrooms and lounge with sofa beds) Notes on bedrooms: There is a large bedroom with a double bed and an extra single bed, a smaller bedroom with two singles, and a small living space with two sofa beds. There is also the possibility of hiring an extra room upstairs. This is a beautiful double ensuite room with sea views.


  • Notes on accommodation: The "Casa de Fusta" in which the apartment is situated (essentially, it occupies the lower level of the building) was the Swiss Pavillion in the 1929 World Exhibition in Barcelona. It was then dismantled and reassembled in its current location overlooking the sea above Caldes D´Estrac! It is a character property with many delightful features. Outside: The apartment has views of the sea, and the wild gardens are truly extensive (almost a private park). This summer there will be a cat, an Irish Red Setter, and chickens on the property. There is a large garden table and chairs. Utility Room: There is access to a washing machine and drying facilities. There are also all amenities (mops and brooms and so on). Linen and towels re provided.
