A delightful mews style cottage situated right on the waterfront with fabulous views across the river to Cowes Harbour providing an exciting ever changing scene of activity from boats and shipping. The living room and kitchen are upstairs and the bedrooms, (1 double and 1 small single) and bathroom are downstairs. There is a large wrap-around balcony upstairs, with a table and seating and overlooks the waterfront. Ideal for relaxing and watching the boating activity. Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms, .

We live in Bedfordshire which is about as far away from the sea as you can get, so we go down to the Isle of Wight as much as we can. All the places we own have fantastic sea views, it's so important to us to have the sea close by. We like our visitors to be able to share these fantastic views too.

The cottage is right on the waterfront. You can fish off the sea wall or just sit and relax on the balcony and watch the array of boats pass by.

There are a selection of shops within 2 minutes of the cottage which is very handy.

The Red Funnel ferry from Southampton is 2 minutes walk from the property.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage has an upside-down layout, so takes full advantage of the sea views from the living area upstairs. It has a large wrap-around balcony with patio furniture where you can sit outside and relax..

Notes on accommodation: The cottage is very close to the waterfront so this will have to be considered if bringing a child. There is very little barrier on the sea wall. Outside: There is a large balcony upstairs accessed from the living room. This has a patio bench with seats and a gas BBQ, and overlooks the waterfront. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are included. (Please bing your own beach towels) Clean linen and towels are provided weekly for stays of more than a week. The property is cleaned at each changeover.

stunning position

Four and a half stars. Without doubt the standout feature of this house is the wonderful terrace overlooking the mouth of the River Medina - it's like watching a non-stop, moving tableau of constantly changing activities. Furthermore, the bright, comfortable, tastefully decorated lounge leads so naturally onto the terrace as a spacious integrated unit. The main bedroom was extremely comfortable with excellent storage space. We also made use of the outside communal space where we at times met and engaged in conversation with the very friendly neighbours. The wifi - so essential to silver surfers like my wife and me - was efficient and fast. Our only minor reservation concerns the appliances in the kitchen which, although of quality makes, are just starting to show their age.

Seymour Court is well situated in East Cowes, so close to the Red Funnel terminus, with an excellent Waitrose in close vicinity, the chain ferry for crossing over to West Cowes, and two bus routes to Newport and Ryde.

We were blessed with sunny weather which helped to make this a memorable holiday. We will return and can thoroughly recommend this lovely holiday home.

Fabulous harbour views

We spent a low-season long-weekend break in this comfortable and well-equipped inverted duplex in a superb location overlooking the River Medina. The kitchen was not illustrated in the promotional photos so we were unsure what to expect, but it had everything two "foodies" could need. The weather limited our use of the balcony to occasional visits between showers, so most of our time was spent on the sofa enjoying the panoramic views through the enormous French windows down river towards the Solent., which always has activity on it - varying from the small passenger ferry that provides access to West Cowes (while the chain ferry is out of action) through numerous yachts and car ferries to enormous car transporters.

Second bedroom not suitable

The second bedroom is not suitable at all - it is more like a boxroom, with no wardrobe storage at all, and very little other storage. The bed is the bottom half of a bunk bed and the poor mattress has a foam topper on it, with a waterproof mattress protector of the sort used with children As an adult, it was probably the most uncomfortable and unsuitable bed I have ever slept upon. The bed was clearly meant for a child, not an adult. I did not expect to have to move onto a sofa bed, with all the added inconvenience, in order to get a decent night's sleep - and no, I don't expect an orthopaedic mattress, just a decent mattress. I do not consider a bottle of wine plus a very nasty email from the owner, to be a suitable recompense for a ruined holiday.

2 minutes walk from the Red Funnel Ferry Terminal in East Cowes which sails in from Southampton. There are regular bus departures from East Cowes to Ryde and Newport.


The shops are just around the corner. Osbourne House is about a mile away on the way out of East Cowes.

Further Details:

In East Cowes there are Waitrose, and Co-op supermarkets, There is also a chemist and various other small shops. The closest pub is 3 minutes walk away. There is an Indian Restaurant and a Chinese take away. The "Chain Ferry" is next door to Seymour Court and goes to Cowes where there are many shops, restaurants and pubs. Please note that the Chain Ferry operates from 05.30 until 00.15 and this may not be suitable for light sleepers.
