Farmhouse in Es Capdella, Nr. Calvia, South West Mallorca, Mallorca, Balearic Islands - Peaceful Location With Lovely Garden And Pool, And Stunning Views Over The Surrounding Countryside

A blissful rural hide-away that encapsulates the very essence of the “real” Mallorca. This traditional detached farmhouse is peacefully located on the edge of Es Capdella, a delightful small Spanish village set in the foothills of the Serra Tramuntana mountain range, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site of Outstanding Beauty. The house is surrounded by almond orchards and fields, but is within easy walking distance of the village’s centre with its local shops and bars. The house is located down a short, gated driveway and set within a beautiful garden, thereby giving a high level of privacy and affording a truly tranquil retreat. The 400-year old farmhouse has been lovingly restored in a traditional Mallorcan style and provides stylish, comfortable and flexible accommodation. It has a large private swimming pool which is surrounded by a stone walled patio for added seclusion. There are also beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. From the house there are also numerous easy-to-access countryside walking trails to enjoy that provide sublime vistas of the Tramuntana mountain range including the impressive Puig de Galatzó. The mountain's surrounding nature reserve (La Reserva Puig de Galatzó) – comprising 2.5 million square metres – is in easy walking distance of the house.

Please note that this is a much loved home – so if you're looking for a deluxe glitzy hacienda this is probably not for you, but if instead you want a wonderfully authentic Mallorcan experience then this is most definitely the right place.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Everyone who visits the house always remarks how perfectly located it is – because it is in easy reach of Palma, the coast and the mountains, restaurants, golf-courses, etc. Yet, it is also a delightful yet short walk into the village to get a freshly baked loaf of bread or local cheese...

Private, peaceful and pretty

Cannot recommend this house more highly. Hidden away in a little village this place is beautifully rustic and private with a comfortable interior, huge beds and lovely fluffy towels. Not so pristine that you are scared to touch anything but beautifully furnished with antique furniture, and well serviced with crockery and cutlery. The peace and quiet was amazing. We went here for my son's wedding at nearby Castell sons Claret - highly recommended if you want an amazing meal but you will need a lot of euros be warned!

Peace and tranquility

The property lies a 5 min walk from the country village of Es Capdella which is a 40 min drive from the airport. It is a 20 min drive from the coast and sandy beaches. It is positioned next to a small farm and the silence is only broken by the mountain bells on the farmers sheep. The villa has a backdrop of hills and the mountain range but is not isolated. There are all mod cons in the villa except a dishwasher. The very large en suite bedroom is on the ground floor - ideal for people with walking difficulties. The pool has the usual furnishings to laze around and the gardens are quite large for a stroll around. There are peaceful country walks direct from the villa.

The restaurant in the village centre is surprisingly good with fair prices. The restaurant "up the road" was fine but spoilt by the surly and rather untidy waitress. The steaks from the village shop were extremely good and barbecued perfectly.

Both the owner and local manager (both British) were there when required.

If you require coastal activities eg sand, more restaurants etc you will need to drive the 20 min to the coast. This villa location is perfect for peace and tranquility, walks etc.

I would certainly recommend this villa to people looking for serenity, a true Mallorca flavour but not wishing to be too far from the odd excursion

We have been to Mallorca numerous times and therefore did not have any need to venture very far. The village has everything you need. Somehow we all managed to destress overnight.

Outside: Outside there is a large covered patio area for sitting and outdoor dining (with a table and chairs), a small kitchen garden, a sunken flower garden with fish pond, a shaded “secret garden” with a traditional Spanish pergola (also with table and chairs), and a larger walled patio area with a large and beautiful sparkling swimming pool (with four loungers). Behind the pool area is also an idyllic orchard of mature citrus trees where guests can pick their own fruit (with picnic bench table).
