About the property

Delightful rural holiday house in St Christophe de Chaulieu, Lower Normandy - Plenty of indoor and outdoor space with above the ground pool and sauna.

Beautiful converted barn with 3 bedrooms, sleeping 6.

There is plenty of private space. A garden to the rear which accommodates the pool and sauna and a large gravel area to the front of the house, perfect for playing games. The pool is maintained and available during the Spring/Summer period.

The hamlet the property sits within is very peaceful, a perfect place to unwind!

A few minutes by car/bike for your croissants in Truttemer-le-Grand.

Local towns Sourdeval and Tinchebray, both 10 minutes away, offer everything you need in the way of supplies. Both lovely towns, with Sourdeval offering a weekly market.

Splendid walks and cycle routes start immediately you step outside the house. There is also a fantastic cycle path from Sourdeval where you can cycle to Mortain or Vire, or if you are really enthusiastic to Mont St Michel. The route used to be the old railway line, which has now been converted to a brilliant cycle path.

Mont St Michel, Bayeux, beautiful sandy Carolles Plage, historic Vire, Villedieu les Poeles, Domfront, St Malo, Dinard, Dinan and D-Day landing beaches are not far.

There is no wifi available at the house, but it can be found locally and our visitors' information guide will provide details on where. The guide will be sent to you at the time of booking.

About Denise Tucker

Richard and Denise live in Kent with two young children.

Denise Tucker purchased this barn in 2013

Why Denise Tucker chose Saint-Christophe-de-Chaulieu

We bought the property because we fell in love with the house and the area. There is so much to do and see in Normandy and this area is such a great place to relax.

Le Dome is in easy reach of lovely beaches and beautiful spots like Mont St Michel, the waterfalls in Mortain, the market town of Vire, beautiful sandy beach with walks at Carolles, Bayeux and the Normandy landing beaches.

It's perfect for cycling and walking with stunning routes starting right from the doorstep.

We've enjoyed the above the ground pool, it is safe for children and the sauna is always welcome after a long walk/cycle ride and swim.

During the colder months, we enjoy the log burner, either to read in front of, play games or watch one of the many movies available in the house.

It's all good!

What makes this barn unique

Being at Le Dome takes us away from the busy life we lead at home. It is peaceful and at a much slower pace.

The countryside is beautiful with fantastic cycling and walking routes right from the door.

We feel extremely lucky to be the owners of Le Dome and we hope that everyone who stays at the house has a wonderful time.

Having no access to wifi at Le Dome is actually a real treat!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a lovely stay at Le Dome. We totally made ourselves at home and enjoyed Normandy very much. We especially liked our trip to Bayeaux and Deauville and the fishing village of Honfleur. Lovely shops in Sourdeval." Karen, Margaret, Gill, Steve, Andrew, Amy and Matthew.

"The Normandy landscape is beautiful. Our highlight of the holiday was Mt St Michel - absolutely stunning!".

"Le Dome had everything we needed for a family holiday, despite the pool being cold, the children were in it almost every day. Thank you".

"We had a great visit here, the house is beautiful and in a great location for seeing everything. We went to Bayeux, Mt St Michel, the D-Day beaches, Giverny, Monet's home and gardens ... everywhere!! Thanks for your hospitality, if we ever come back this way again, we'll definitely see if 'Le Dome' is available. Cathi, Dave & Annie

"We had a really lovely time at Le Dome. The house was great with brilliant surroundings. Food was fantastic, can recommend the Vrai Normande in Vire. A great area for running, especially if you want to concentrate on your hill work! Would like to come back to Normandy again. Colin, Allison & Eleanor

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly wonderful stay at Le Dome. The house has everything you need. We used the sauna and pool and enjoyed many bbqs. We visited mont st Michael which was lovely and visited many places . The owners have made your stay easy by providing plenty of visitor info as well as a detailed welcome pack. We travelled with our son his wife and grandchildren and we all had things to do. A very comfortable place to stay

Perfect family gite

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Le Dome. The gite is perfectly set up for a family with plenty of space both downstairs and upstairs and lots of room for the children to play outside. It is in a really quiet rural location with lots of bird life, but within a short drive of two towns. We found that it was very conveniently located for visits to Bayeux, and the Normandy Beaches, Mont St Michel, Domfront and the Suisse Normande.
