Cottage in Howden, Nr. York, Yorkshire, England - Perfectly Located Within Walking Distance of Howden

A 2 bedroom charming cottage situated a short stroll through the Ashes Playing Fields to the centre of the Historic Market Town of Howden. The cottage benefits from excellent quality furnishing throughout, retaining its original character whilst providing the essentials for modern living. This cottage is situated in a quiet neighbourhood and is suitable for couples and families.

Howden is a small market town with a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre with narrow cobbled streets and restored buildings.

Howden Minster dates back to the eighth century and, with its 135 foot tower, dominates the landscape.

In the early 1800s Howden became famous throughout Europe for its annual horse fair which attracted principal horse dealers from every part of the UK.

It was at Howden Airship Station, in the 1920s, that the R100 airship, designed by Sir Barnes Wallis, was developed.

Howden is an ideal centre for touring places such as the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. With attractions such as Castle Howard, Chatsworth House, York Minster, The National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Museum all within driving distance from Howden you don't have to travel far for a good day out.

Wonderful Cottage

We had a lovely short break in mid August, staying at the cottage for 6 nights. The property is immaculate, very well equipped, extremely comfortable with lots of extras to ensure an enjoyable stay - wifi, toiletries, play station and DVD's. The location was excellent, Howden is a very pleasant town and was ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area. Katie was very helpful and the extra touches and information / advice she provided much appreciated. We would very much like to return to the area in the future and wouldn't hesitate to stay at the cottage again, I would highly recommend the location and property.

Excellent

The house has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, and is very well equipped ,clean, and comfortable with nice little extras such as wi-fi, Smart TV, and PS3. It also comes with a large rear garden and a great outdoor sitting area . Katie also provides a great welcome pack.

Location wise it is a short 5 minute walk into the lovely Howden village centre, with a range of different shops, pubs, restaruants and takeways. It is also provides an excellent base to discover East Riding, the coast, and the wider offer of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

All in all excellent value for money and is highly recommended

Lovely cottage

We found the location of the cottage very easily. The owner and her husband were very friendly and welcoming. A pleasant surprise was the thoughtfulness of Katie in providing the necessities to have a nice cuppa (including fresh milk) when you arrived. The cottage contained everything you could possibly need to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, a real home from home. It was exceptionally well equipped.The beds were very comfortable too. The extras, such as wifi, tissues, hand wash and bathroom supplies, if needed, were a nice touch.

The town centre of the village is just a short walk away and contains a variety of shops. The neighbouring town of Goole has a range of bigger named shops and supermarkets. The cottage is well placed to explore the attractions in the Dales, such as York, Selby, Hull, and all the stately homes and gardens in the area. It is also not too far from the coast where Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey are all within driving distance. Further down the coast to Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe are also accessible.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week staying in the cottage, and luckily we also had a great week weather wise.

We bought this cottage as an investment and having rented it out for the last year decided we'd try it as a holiday cottage. Howden is a beautiful historic market town boasting an impressive Minster and welcomes tourists from around the world. We hope that by offering our cottage as a place to rest we can encourage visitors to stay for longer.

Howden has a range of shops including butchers, bakeries, grocers, co-op, beauty and hairdressers/barbers, post office, chemists and HSBC bank. Restaurants in Howden include Indian, Chinese, pub food and a bistro and there are a few take away/delivery options too.
