Flat 5 Seabirds House is at the back of the main house. It has its own front door and is totally self contained. Because it's at the back it has no sea view (all our other flats do, and so are more expensive). But it's a brilliant central position in St Ives. It's a quiet spot too with very little passing traffic. The flat is compact, bright and comfortable, with everything a single person or a couple will need for a holiday. The perfect economical base in this perfect little town.

About the Owner

Hello! We are Mary and Henry Brown, the owners.

We live in London and have a wonderful team of people in St Ives who help us to take care of Barnoon and Seabirds House. Henry looks after any issues with the building, and I manage the bookings. I really enjoy the contact with our guests - many regulars feel like friends even when all the contact has been by email.

Apart from St Ives and family, our main interest is sailing - in a dinghy on the Thames and a bigger boat on the sea.

Good location. Accommodation had everything you need.

If you are unable to secure the garage parking, it's a good idea to buy a one week car park ticket for Barnoon Hill Longstay Car Park, which is very close by. This can be done online at a cost of £47.20

The little flat is perfect for two people. It is up a hill from the shops and the beaches, so no good if that is a problem for you.

The bed was very firm. It is in a very peaceful location. Useful instructions supplied, everything very clean.

Lovely stay

Perfect little flat for me and my six year old daughter - she called it her fairytale cottage. Fab location - really close to the beautiful beach. We absolutely loved St Ives!

Great location, well equipped property

We enjoyed staying at Seabirds. the property was clean and well equipped and its a really central location to explore St Ives. It's compact but more than enough space for two people. We had a small baby too and found we still had enough room for a moses basket and the rest of the stuff you require for a little one! Only downside was the WiFi wasn't working but we were informed of this in advance, plus it was out of the owners hands. Car park (Barnoon) is just over the raod but this is very busy at peak times. you can park at others in St Ives though if you buy the weekly pass. Overall this was a lovely property, perfect for a young couple. Really close to the beach, and also the St Ives bakery (at teh bottom of the Digey), which does THE best bread... and pastries, and flapjacks!! ;)

Great flat, perfect location, clean and had everything we need

The flat was absolutely perfect for two people and it contained everything we need. As it was on the back of the main house, there was very little noise from anywhere. It was in a great location, convenient to everywhere in St Ives. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend

Summer in St. Yves 2015

It's a nice small property for a couple. We enjoyed 10 wonderful holidays in this lovely place. Glory in sitting in the sun in the little garden, having a warm place during a cold rainy evening … The property offers all things that are needed to have restorative holidays. It is located in a central place: 2 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the town. We recommend to rent a parking space!

Location

From the Owner

In 1998 we bought a little flat in Barnoon Terrace, having fallen in love with St Ives, and the view. We let it as well as using it ourselves from the start. Then we saw another property just up the hill which was in a very sorry state indeed. We bought it and had the inside completely rebuilt, turning the original 7 flatlets into the 5 lovely flats of Seabirds House, taking full advantage of the position. Flat 5 doesn't have a sea view but the position is still great - less than 5 minutes down to Porthmeor beach or the harbour.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

A 3 minute walk takes you down to the beautiful sandy expanse of Porthmeor surf beach. There's a surf school, surf board and wetsuit hire and a good cafe. The St Ives Tate Gallery overlooks the beach. From there you can walk across or around the headland known as "the Island" to Porthgwidden beach. Less than 5 minutes in the other direction and you are at the picturesque harbour, with its lovely clean sandy beach at low tide. It's a steep climb back up, so that may take you longer!

Travel:

St Ives can be reached easily by train. Many mainline trains from London stop at St Erth from where there is a charming little branch line along the coast to St Ives with a frequent service. It's a spectacular way to approach the town! Seabirds is a 15 minute walk from the station or there are plenty of local taxis.

There is a small airport at Newquay, 30 miles away.

From west of London, including Heathrow, it is a 5-6 hour drive.

Fees No additional mandatory fees

Short breaks are often possible at quieter times or at the last moment. Our short break pricing formula is weekly rate divided by 7, multiplied by the number of nights, plus £25.
The minimum is 3 nights.

Changeover day for weekly bookings is Saturday, with arrival at any time after 3pm, and departure before 10am.

The flats are no smoking, and sorry, no pets.

To make a booking please email or phone me and I will send you a booking form. We ask for £50 per week deposit, and the balance one month before your holiday. On our own website there's also an online booking system.

Bedlinen is provided, towels can be hired. It is £10 for a batch of towels for 2 people (2 hand, bath and teatowels). Other quantities on request.

The garage is £50 per week. The garage door is only 7ft wide so check your car before booking. Once inside, there's more space so you will be able to open the doors!
