This recently renovated property, completed in 2014, is situated in a large natural park just 5 kms from the picturesque village of Cotignac in the scenic area of the haut Var. Typically provencal, places of interest include the St. Croix lake and the "Gorges de Verdon"and Thoronet Abbey and it is located approximately 1 hour from Aix-en-Provence, Toulon and the Cote d'Azur coast. Ideal for hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, canoeing and golf. The original part of the house dates back to 1860 with the extension built in the 1970's. It has been completely modified to modern day standards including double glazing, full insulation and an ensuite for each bedroom. However, key features of its original state have been maintained such as interior stone walls, terracotta flooring and apparent woodwork; all of which add to its provincial charm.

We are a couple in our early fifties of French and British nationality living in the Geneva area with 3 grown up girls and a lovable Golden Retriever This property started out as a pre-retirement project and after 3 years we have renovated the house to a standard we would find suitable for future residency. We enjoy the outdoors and thoroughly appreciate the peace and quiet of both the house and the picturesque haute var. We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay.

Outside: 2 terraces; one facing south east which is partly covered with bamboo and overlooks the pool, the other facing south west and shaded by trees in the evening. Both terraces have external lighting. The pool, 12m x 5m depth 1.6m max, is surrounded by wooden decking and a protective fence. 4 long chairs, 2 deck chairs and 2 parasols. Utility Room: Access to the utility room and washing machine available. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included. 10 Euros per room used per stay. 120 Euros for the cleaning at the end of stay

Wonderful

We had a great time staying in this house just outside of the lovely little town of Cotignac. The pool and ping pong table are great fun, and we spent several evenings on the terrace enjoying a barbecue. The house is really well equipped and maintained, clean and spacious, and everyone was happy with their room - all of the beds are great sizes(doubles/kings) and the ensuites were great. The owner was extremely helpful with any questions we had, directions to the house were easily followed, and arrival/departure went smoothly. We highly recommend and hope to return. The night market and tuesday morning market in Cotignac are lovely to amble through and there is a great atmosphere for a meal one evening there too. We also recommend visiting the Sillans-la-cascade waterfall just up the road and driving up to the Gorge du Verdon for some pedalloing and swimming in the lake - spectacular scenery. Enjoy!

A Wonderful Holiday

This holiday was a new experience for us as we have never visited the Var region or stayed in a self catering house. We arrived at Marseilles Airport and picked up the previously booked hire cars. The distance to Cotignac was 100 Km, the journey was partly on motorway then onto normal roads through the breath taking country side of the Var region. Once we arrived at Cotignac we followed the comprehensive directions supplied by the owner and arrived at the property with ease.

The amount of land around the property was immense and the house fully met our expectations. The property was clean and well maintained with a layout that could lend itself to having completely separate living areas for two families, connected by the large kitchen. The house has every thing you require to self cater with all mod-cons, including a gas barbecue situated on the terrace, overlooking the swimming pool. At night, with the pool lights on the is certainly a great place to enjoy a home cooked meal with family. The swimming pool was big with a large terrace that had sunbeds and table tennis, both were used extensively by our family. The village of Cotignac was a short drive and was a lovely place to visit with good restaurant's and also had the added attraction of the cliff dwellings. The whole region we found to be delightful, with activities to satisfy most visitors. A forty minute drive from the house is the aptly-named Grand Canyon du Verdon and is one of the most spectacular sights in France.

Everything we hoped for - ideal spot for familes

This was our second stay at the house and it was every bit as good as we remembered it - this time we choose to have two weeks rather than one. It's perfect for two families with young children. The pool is superbly maintained and the house itself beautifully decorated. Nothing has been done cheaply in the renovation of this property. The local villages - including Cotignac - are a delight. There's so much to explore in this stunning, historic part of France. I cannot recommend this highly enough. My only reservation in doing so is that it will make booking a stay harder in the future because!

Beautiful

Spent a lovely week here in Sept (wish we'd booked for 3weeks).Really enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the location and easy access to all beauty spots in the area. This lovely house has everything plenty of space,swimming pool nothing has been forgotten for the guests comfort. The charming village of Cotignac nearby has many restaurants and shops. We certainly recommend this place and will definitely return.

Highly Recommended

We spent 2 weeks in this beautiful house - it was great for a family holiday (3 children aged 8, 6 and 4) - very spacious and tastefully decorated. The kids spent hours in the pool but also enjoyed the games. The location is great - close enough to Contignac but far enough away to ensure lots of privacy and peace. There are lots of things to do and see in the area. We hope to book again in the future. Highly recommended.
