About Yasmina Macalister

I bought and converted the property in 2012. It was originally a Wesleyan Church Hall and is located next to my home - so I am always available to help visitors if needed.

Yasmina Macalister purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Yasmina Macalister chose Husthwaite

I bought the property because it is in the village where I have lived for 25 years and is in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. The village is quiet and peaceful but within easy reach of many interesting areas and places to visit. We are surrounded by lovely countryside and the view from the cottage is towards the Hambleton Hills and the White Horse at Kilburn.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is conveniently located for visiting all the attractions Yorkshire has to offer. Visitors seem to like the setting, the decor and the fact that all bedrooms are ensuite.

Gorgeous place in pretty village, beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Colton Loft was very comfortable with 3 well sized double ensuite rooms. Lots of care had been taken over the decor, furniture and upkeep with lovely touches like fresh flowers and a pint of milk in the fridge. The view from the upstairs living room is stunning. The owner is very welcoming and helpful and nearby if you have any questions.

The village is very pretty - everyone has beautiful gardens - and there is a lovely pub. There is lots to do nearby - Fountains Abbey, York, open air swimming pool, Ripon, Thirsk, Scarborough, Castle Howard - we could have stayed another week and not got bored. We took bikes which we kept secure in the garden and Sutton Bank has great cycle trails. We also drove to Robin Hood's Bay (1 hour 20 mins).

I would recommend this property wholeheartedly and were disappointed we had to come home.

Clean spacious cottage located in a lovely village in North Yorkshire

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 night stay in cottage was lovely. Property is very clean, spacious, warm, very well equipped and value for money. The cottage is situated in a small quiet village within 40 mins from York and just over an hour to Scarborough. Car is recommended to get to places of interest. Yasmina was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you. We will certainly recommend to friends and family.

Beautiful cottage with everything we could need

  • 5 of 5

I live in Wales and my sisters live in Scotland and decided to meet for a weekend somewhere between the two.

We had a wonderful weekend catching up and the cottage was perfect. Three double en-suite bedrooms was marvellous. It was easy to get to York and other interesting places.

Hope to return next year for longer.

Excellent 3 bedroom conversion, fully equipped.

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as described in the listing. The three bedroom en suite accommodation was ideal for our party and there was a well equipped kitchen/dining area including washing machine and dish washer. The property was very clean and well maintained. It was ideally located, in a lovely quiet village, for visiting York and the many local attractions. There was a pretty garden where we sat out to enjoy the view of the Kilburn horse. The owner made herself available if we had any issues without in any way intruding. There was off street parking for one car but street parking isn't an issue. We would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Spacious "top notch" well kept cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many cottages over the years and this one is the best! Fabulous to have 3 doubles all ensuite, we were a party of 6 adults so perfect!

Immaculate furniture, tasteful decor and comfy beds and plenty of space for unpacking and the storing luggage. Very well equipped kitchen, a real home from home, didn't need to take anything with us, even milk in the fridge. Spotlessly clean, excellent quality linens. Spacious layout and view from lounge of the White Horse. Ample parking, great location for Yorkshire Moors and famous cities, we hope to be back! Thank you Yasmina for your pretty fragrant sweet peas and hospitality. Highly recommend.
