Newly renovated, it boasts a very high standard of equipment throughout: WIFI, log burner, Nespresso machine, flat screen, barbecue etc. It is furnished with an eye for detail and offers a casual luxury feel. Rye Harbour is a lovely little village, good shop and pub, a bus service to Rye,and very interesting river activity.

The shingle beach is vast, and we had very good weather. Overall a very enjoyable short break.

Thankyou.

"The Vigilant" is a very nice house and we really enjoyed our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the "Vigilant" with 3 adults and 4 teens for a week in july.

In the kitchen you find everything you need, bath and beds are very comfortable and we really liked the decoration!

Just a second bathroom or a seperate toilet would be great ;-) ... and the terraces are not in a good shape, so we didn't use them often.

We'll recommend "logsandwaves" to our friends, the other houses look very nice, too.

A perfect Rye Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage and the location next to the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, The "sleeps 8" description was not at all stretched - 8 were slept comfortably. It was perfect holiday cottage decor and we found everything we wanted there. The owners were friendly and helpful.

If you like uncommercialised spots then we can recommend this. Fresh air, great walks, comparatively uncrowded. We ate one night at The Standard Inn and the food and beer were good. We never go to Rye without getting Fish and Chips from the Kettle of Fish next to the quay and sitting on the quay wall to eat them. If you like junk shops Rye is heaven - lots of very interesting places (the best ones next to the quay) and prices generally a lot lower than locations like Tunbridge Wells or Sevenoaks. But there are so many things to do and see in Rye: it's a unique place.

I would happily recommend this property to friends and family in future.

Great property in a great location, would highly recommend

  • 4 of 5

Although relatively local I had never been to the Rye Harbour/Camber area before but am glad I did.

Rye Harbour itself has everything you would want for a few days away including a good local pub (William the Conq) and access to the local beach and nature reserve. The accommodation was also great with a good size living space and all the bits a pieces you would expect!

Much more room than one would expect.

  • 4 of 5

I love Rye Harbour and know it well so was pleasantly surprised at the accommodation in what was once one of the dragoon's cottages in Coastguard Square. Whilst old and pretty it has been done up in modern style giving an airy, arty feel. Neat solutions have been found such as putting the washing machine in the under stairs cupboard.

We were warm and comfortable in Vigilant and it was great for the grandchildren to have a room each.

Sadly our old favourites local eatery, The Conqueror, was being refurbished while we were there and The Inkerman had a fire but we were well served by the all day breakfasts in the dog and child friendly Bosun's Bite.

The owner responded quickly to all our queries such as bin day.

I would happily stay there again.

Location

From the Owner

Rye Harbour offers all the benefits of this beautiful region without the crowd.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The huge Rye Harbour beach is a few minutes walk/bike.

Further Details:

Get the best of both worlds!

While the village is close to many beautiful known and sometimes crowded places, it offers a “get away from it all” feeling like nowhere else. Although well-worn, we feel the word “escape” gets its true meaning here.

This is a real place, authentic, not purely designed for tourism.

You can choose to leave the car here and enjoy everything the surroundings have to offer, or use it as a base to explore the region.

The village itself is located along the Rother River, which separates Camber and Rye Harbour beaches. The latter is less than 10 min walk, across a beautiful Natural Reserve. Not accessible by car, it is unlikely you get disturbed by anybody else…

Although rather small, the village offers the basic services with general store, pubs and cafes.

From Rye Harbour you will get easy access to the nearby Rye Citadel (really worth a visit), the famous Camber Beach, Winchelsea, Hastings…..

More details available on request. All our guests will receive a detailed package prior to their stay.
