About the property

Cottage in St Keverne, Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall, England - Quiet Village Location, Close To Beach And Village Amenities Including Pubs And Restaurant

Primrose Cottage is a semi-detached, three bedroom property, with shower room and family bathroom, and is a very short walk (1 minute) from the village square of St Keverne, with its pub, newsagent, restaurant and general store. The property is completely double-glazed and centrally heated and has recently undergone major renovation to make it an ideal house for all seasons. Primrose Cottage is set back from the road and provides a relaxing, peaceful setting for a holiday on the Lizard Peninsula.

St Keverne is a working village with lots of local entertainment and attractions - including the St Keverne Band (brass) which plays frequently in the village on summers' evenings - you'll probably hear them practicing in the village hall close to the cottage! The cottage is ideal for families and children as the garden is secure and enclosed - making it suitable for little ones. A high chair and travel cot are supplied & the main bedroom has plenty of space for a cot.

The village of St Keverne lies on the eastern side of The Lizard Peninsula just 1.25 miles inland with its village pubs and shops surrounding the village square, and an impressive church spire, at one time used to guide the Cornish fishermen home. It lies within Cornwall's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

From Primrose Cottage, you can explore the spectacular beauty of the Lizard Peninsula by car, bicycle or on foot. You will find tiny secret coves, sandy bays and dramatic cliff walks along the South West Coastal path. Ideal for water sport enthusiasts, the Lizard Coast is the perfect place to indulge in surfing, scuba diving and kayaking, whilst walkers will love the opportunity to explore the historic settlements which litter the Cornish landscape. Just north is the Helford River, with its fantastic sailing and fishing - and home to Frenchman's Creek, and picturesque Helford village. Further afield visit Falmouth with one of the largest natural harbours, Pendennis Castle built by Henry VIII, and take time to visit The National Maritime Museum. West Cornwall is also an ideal destination for anyone with an interest in arts and crafts with the highlights of the Tate St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum, and the Minack Theatre together with outstanding local galleries and artists' workshops everywhere, showcasing Cornwall's vibrant art scene.

There are a host of National Trust and historic properties and gardens to explore in West Cornwall, including Trebah, Bonython, Lamorran, and Trelissick. Don't forget to visit St Michael's Mount and nearby Marazion with its stunning beach and surfing.

Other nearby attractions include Goonhilly, Flambards Theme Park, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, Trelowarren, Roskilly's and the local diving school at Porthkerris.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Jane - Back from the cottage yesterday and we had a great time - we thought the cottage was beautifully done up and had absolutely everything we needed so thank you for making it so welcoming and well equipped - one of the best equipped holiday cottages I've ever stayed in. We found it really convenient for the Lizard and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful garden.

Alison, August 2014.

Well decorated, kids will love it

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is beautiful and good use of the space. It's been well thought out design wise and kids will love the den at the back with toys, DVDs and play station. Mine loved the garden too which was ample for my four.

The village is small with the essentials and parking is not on the property but two small car parks a very short walk in either direction.

Coverack is really nice which is close by and a few coves near lizard (one we found at the base of a hotel by chance which was very secluded). The property is an ideal base to explore and the list of places to go and visit left by the owners in the welcome notes were really useful in getting to know where to spend the time.

Jane was extremely helpful and really couldn't fault the property - my husband definitely needed to learn to duck though which he forgot multiple times every day of our stay!!

Amazing stay in a lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a lovely and enjoyable stay at your cottage. Our little one enjoyed playing with the huge amount of toys you had provided in the cottage. It was also nice and clean and very well equipped.

We enjoyed walking along the coastal path around the Lizard, visiting St. Michaels Mount, Falmouth and Coverack and it's not even half of the things you could have done here in Cornwall.

We would recommend it to everyone who wants to visit Cornwall because it has also got a nice location.

An absolute delight

  • 5 of 5

Primrose Cottage is an absolute delight; comfortable, clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We visited as a family of six; grandparents, father and three children (aged 6, 3 and 1). We all loved the cottage and pretty garden. St Keverne is a friendly village with several useful shops and wonderful views across Falmouth Bay from the churchyard. There are good beaches nearby as well as the Seal Sanctuary and Roskilly's Farm.

Jane, the owner, was super helpful and answered all emails promptly. I would recommend this cottage For all ages. We hope to return one day.

Excellent Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is really lovely and was perfect for us! We stayed for a week before I returned to work following my maternity leave. We spent a lot of time in the beautiful garden as our little one loved crawling around and watching the birds. Everything is as described in the listing and it was great to have a highchair and travel cot available. Just remember to bring your own towels! We didn't get out as much as we had planned as unfortunately our little one was ill. We did visit Coverack which is a beautiful place and a must to see whilst here. The Seal Sanctuary was also good and worth a visit. The White Heart pub in the village is very friendly and serves great food. From the initial enquiries to booking the customer service we received was excellent. We would highly recommend staying here. Perfect for a family getaway!

Lovely cottage, perfect for our family

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was very homely inside, clean and had everything we needed as promised in description. The kitchen area was great to sit in and look out onto the beautiful garden full of birds and butterflies :-) We spent many mornings just relaxing in the garden while our children happily played in. The cottage is located in a lovely little village and a short drive from many beaches and the seal sanctuary. We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely stay again.

As three over 65s this was the perfect place for us. The accommodation gave us so much freedom. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and the bedrooms and lounges very comfortable. The cottage was equipped with every mod con - including a dishwasher, Great!!

Having different requirements for tv programmes we found the facility of two lounges with tv sets excellent. The World Cup was on!!!

A lovely garden which is very well maintained. The cottage is situated just around the corner from the general store, the newsagents and the pubs. Lovely restaurant in the village and lots of places to visit. Try Bonython Gardens - not far away and beautiful. Well worth taking a trip to St Mawes (via Falmouth) - go over on the King Harry Ferry.

All in all - thank you Jane & Co for a lovely holiday. We will be back!

The Over 65s.
