About the property

Apartment in New Polzeath, Cornwall, England - Loads Of Character, 8 Minutes Walk Across the Beach To Polzeath Village & its Shops & Restaurants

One of 4 flats in a converted Edwardian house which used to be the Bishop of Truro's holiday home. It has a homely, peaceful atmosphere with lots of character & sea views across Polzeath Bay, so even stormy weather is a pleasure. Arched doors open straight onto a large shared garden which is great for kids and dogs as it's very enclosed and has a rope swing and playhouse. The beach has a vast expanse of sand and great surf so it is a very popular destination for teenagers. It's home to 2 surf schools with equipment hire & some lively cafes and restaurants. There are also retail shops and a very well-stocked local convenience store. Straight out of the front door are a number of stunning coastal walks (north to Lundy bay , Port Quin and Port Issac or south to Daymer bay and Rock beach). There are 2 golf courses nearby and an enormous range of activities on offer including surfing, water skiing, coasteering, kayaking, cycling, sailing, golf and tennis. It is also close to Rock and Padstow with shopping and superb restaurants including Rick Stein's famous 'Seafood Restaurant'. The ferry runs constantly from Rock to padstow during the day and makes a great day out. The 'Camel Trail" from Padstow to Wadebridge and on in the Bodmin direction is a lovely flat cycle route for all ages adapted from the old railway line. It's easy to hire bikes/trailers etc at either end. Well behaved, recently de-flead pets are welcome.

Outside: The front garden has an upper terrace with a bench. This is separated by a low wall from a large lower lawn. It has wonderful views across the estuary and is great for children to play in as it's enclosed, has a swing made from a large buoy and a wooden playhouse. At the back there's a smaller, walled garden with a bench which catches the morning sun. This has a more private feel and is rarely used by the other occupants of the house. It has a rotating clothes dryer and outdoor tap with a hosepipe for washing wetsuits etc. There is also an enclosed grass area with private parking. All outdoor areas are shared with the other flats. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included in the price and are changed once a week. Bring your own and get a cheaper price! Other: There is a large shared porch where you can store muddy boots/shoes. Some children's beach toys are provided. Inside the front door is a small hall with a coat and shoe rack. In between the bedrooms is a small hall with fully stocked bookshelves.

Lovely relaxing family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The flat was not only clean and comfortable but felt like a home from home to us straight away. Impressive selection of books and our two small children were delighted to find plenty of toys. Beautiful building and garden and only a short walk to the beach. Owner was very attentive and i felt that if we'd had any problems they would've been dealt with. Well equipped kitchen/washing facilities. We would love to come back one day!

Characterful flat near huge sandy surfing beach

  • 5 of 5

A lovely characterful holiday home that has been in the family for some time. The beds were VERY comfortable and the King sized bed was a proper King sized bed! We very much enjoyed the garden and huge sandy beach a short walk down the road. The surfing was great fun for all the family and on duller days we found plenty to do; a beautiful circular walk around the nearby headland, cycling the Camel trail and exploring other local villages along the coast. We also visited Padstow via the ferry/water taxi at Rock which was fun. In the flat is a vinyl collection and a wide range of books which we also enjoyed dipping into. Definitely recommended. Would love to go back!

Super, homely flat

  • 4 of 5

We had a great holiday staying at this lovely, homely flat. It is only a 5 minute walk to the beach and only a few minutes walk the other way to some lovely runs and walks along the cliffside. Very comfy bed too!
