About the property

Gites 1, La Courtoiserie, Hambye, Manche, Normandy, France - Perfectly Situated to Explore the Countryside and Near Coast . Wifi

A lovely old Gite with 2 bedrooms and sleeping 5 people in two bedrooms. Set in 3 acres the gite is in a beautiful location, peaceful and relaxing with plenty of outdoor space for children to run freely and explore. The gite also has its own private patio and dining area and a BBQ is provided for your use. A washing machine is provided for use by guests in both Gite 1 and 2. For down-time or quiet evenings, there is English Satellite TV installed with DVD player and Wi-Fi.

An ideal base if you fancy catching some of Le Tour de France as they whizz past Granville, (which is only about half an hour away) and Hambye (15 min walk) on Monday 4th July 2016- the tour virtually goes past the gites!

A great location for walking, cycling or just relaxing. Located near the village of Hambye, 4km. It is within walking distance of the 11century Hambye Abbey.

The historic town of Villedieu-les-Poêles, famous for its copper and bell foundry, is 6.25km and a market is held in the town every Tuesday. The medieval town of Granville, 25km, has shops, a marina and a historic old town. Beautiful, sandy, quiet beaches are 25km away, and local restaurants and cafés are a 5 minute drive.

Shop and café/bar 4km, restaurant 1km.

Although it is a lovely area to explore guests often stay at the property and spend their days enjoying the tranquil surroundings and the lovely views over the undulating countryside.

Children are welcome to play in the fields around the gite. There is a swimming pool in the local town which guests have often found handy to use in the summer months.

Horse riding is available nearby and it is a popular area for keen cyclists.

There are also 5 golf courses all within a 30 minute drive of the Gite.

The nearest beach is St Martin de Brehal - miles of sandy beach stretch along the coast. Further up the coast in a northerly directions you will find many unspoilt beaches famous for their mussels and oysters. When the tide is out - it goes out for a mile- you can walk out and pick your own mussels from the poles and ropes.

Waiting for you upon your arrival will be a welcome pack consisting of tea, coffee, milk, wine and flowers so you don't have to rush off to the shops upon arrival.

About Timothy Abbott - Cornish Seaview Cottages

We are an English couple living in Surrey and we choose to spend the summer months here in France. My family have owned the property for over 30 years and it was my father who originally converted it with the help of local French tradesmen. During the summer we reside next door to the Gites and are discretely on hand to help with any issues that may arrive. We have a wealth of knowledge on the local area and are always happy to advise on the best local restaurants, markets and places of interest and activities nearby.

Why Timothy Abbott - Cornish Seaview Cottages chose Coutances - Saint Lo area

We try and spend as much time here as possible as we love the peace and quiet and the climate. The gardens are a wonderful place to relax in and we provide a BBQ for each Gite. The mild summer nights are perfect for dining outside, watching the resident owls and bats and enjoying the night sky.

What makes this cottage unique

Nearby to the property there is the local Abbey at Hambye, plenty of walking, interesting French towns and markets and the beautiful beaches are only 30 minutes away. Plenty of activities are also a short drive away including a choice of 5 golf courses all within 30 minutes of the Gites.

Guestbook comments from the manager

it is a very pretty area and the gite is a perfect place as a base to see a variety of towns and villages. The gite is pretty and clean and has all amenities (but no tv or DVD so take your portable for the kids). The owners were very helpful and always willing to give advice on what to see or where to go and when we asked for help with cooker or whatever they were always keen to lend a hand. You never felt completely alone, which is nice when you are not used to living in an isolated place. Shop about 3 miles away but be prepared to search for fresh milk. A lovely holiday, hope to visit again!
