Great house in Port Issac

  • 5 of 5

Port Issac is a fantastic location for holiday - beautiful scenery and enough services in town to be able to walk around and get supplies etc.

The house is great and unique for Port Issac in its size and that it has garden area, BBQ and large kitchen. There was plenty of room (we were only 5, but more would have not been an issue at all) to give everyone personal space. Having so many bathrooms was also nice especially on days back from the beach. Most of the cottages in Port Issac are either small or new - Manor House has character (although modern in furnishing and appliances) and it is large.

Location and access could not be beaten. We didn't have a car, but there was a huge amount of parking (a rarity in Port Issac) and access from Church Hill Road or Fore Street up through Middle Street was pretty straightforward.

I would definitely return to the house and recommend it. Owner was a pleasure to deal with, super responsive and local arrangements were easy.

Also would recommend making reservations at Outlaws in advance. Cornish Rock Tors in Port Gaverne is less than 10 minute walk away and gave us the best kayaking and coasteering days out - Ben and team are super there.

A Gem of A Holiday Home In the Heart of Port Isaac

  • 5 of 5

As a family we have been coming to Port Isaac for 15 years and this was our first stay at The Manor House. The house is an absolute tardis and was the perfect base for a family break for a fortnight with eight people from age 7 to 70. Never a queue for the bathroom, always plenty of hot water, wi-fi and space to be together or apart. The decor is fresh, coastal chic and the beds were really comfortable and a great night's sleep was had by all. Having the sun room and the utility room was a great bonus for returning back from the beach, it kept sand out of the house and where it could be easily swept up. Having the outdoor tap meant wet suits could be rinsed and hung easily outside too. The BBQ and the gardens were lovely and enjoyed and the leat entertained the children for hours making boats. This was also our first stay at a property with parking in Port Isaac. To have parking in the village is an absolute luxury and there is plenty of space at the Manor House. We had a Toyota Rav4 and an Audi A4 All Road Estate and managed no problems at all accessing. We'd recommend driving in down Church Hill and turning right after the red phone box rather than turning in by the lifeboat station simply due to the number of pedestrians in the centre of the village. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Lovely spacious accommodation

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week whilst walking the Coastal Path. As a group of six we had plenty of room and the house was very comfortable. The down side was trying to get there with film crews and crowds of people blocking the road. We had to pay for parking and walk down one day as it was impossible to access the street. Beware if you are infirm there are lots of stairs.

Owner's Response: Trish, Thanks very much for the feedback. I'm sorry you had problems accessing the parking at The Manor House one day during the filming of Doc Martin. Strictly speaking, they should stop all filming and let your cars pass. I'm hopeful there won't be any more filming for a number of years. I will edit the welcome notes to residents to advise that if filming is in progress they still have full access to The Manor House - normally the filming crews are very respectful and quick to respond. Best wishes, Richard Phelps

Charming & Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Surprisingly spacious, period house over 4 floors, tastefully decorated with an amazing location 30 seconds from the harbour, pubs etc., and, even more amazing, a garden & parking for several cars (utterly unheard of in Port Isaac). This is our second stay in The Manor House and we love it. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are extremely comfortable (3 x 5' doubles & a twin) and we've been able to take our dog both times (collie sized - she stayed on the ground floor in the kitchen/conservatory).There's no shortage of hot water and with 4 bathrooms no queues. Just watch the shower in the very top bedroom ensuite, it's a bit erratic and does the freezing/boiling for adults not children. Richard, the owner, made some great suggestions for walks along the coast, a truly idilic location.

One of the best self catering holidays we've enjoy

  • 4 of 5

I have visited Cornwall annually for many years with my husband and children and now with my grandchildren. Port Isaac has become our favourite village and this year, for the first time we stayed at the Manor House which is right in the centre of this relaxing resort. Our beds were super comfy and there was plenty of room for us all to be together if we wished (6 of us) or have our own space for a quiet read if we felt like it.. Kitchen was large with plenty of room round the dining table and contents were plentiful and easy to find! Garden was delightful - we made a bit of noise sometimes but no-one complained! My family like to shower but I prefer to relax in a bath and the bath was nice and roomy for an 80+ year old. Never had to worry about hot water as it was constantly available.

Entrance and quaint streets took a bit of manoeuvering but it all added to the holiday and we had no scrapes.

Would have liked a few more pictures/ornaments to give homely feel but all in all we had a truly happy stay. Thank you for making it so.

Lovely family house in Port Isaac

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in The Manor House in the first week of August 2016. There was plenty of accomodation for two adults and three teenage boys (who were grateful to have a room each) and plenty to do in and around the village. Navigating the tight roads in the little seaside port was interesting, with small crowds of tourists gathering at strategic positions to watch the car turn a corner, but parking in the grounds of The Manor was easy.

The boys were in the water most days, kayaking in Port Gaverne and surfing on Polzeath beach were particularly good. The House has every amenity and is clearly well looked after by the owner. A lovely spot.
