Centrally located, we offer a perfect base for the beach and the cosmopolitan town of Ventnor just a 10 minutes’ stroll away. Ventnor’s popular shingle and sand beach - where freshly caught fish of the day can be purchased at the marina - is about 5 minutes’ walk downhill.

Blackgang Chine is nearby, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, and within easy reach are The Needles and Alum Bay. Attractions include Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Pearl, Dinosaur Isle, a donkey sanctuary and Calbourne Water Mill which has a 17th-century working watermill. Osborne House and Gardens (Queen Victoria’s holiday residence), and Carisbrooke Castle are a short distance away. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes, and the popular resorts of Shanklin and Sandown are nearby. Hello From Sunny Ventnor !

The Isle of Wight was never a place I thought we would call home until a surprise birthday trip organised by Robert for my birthday.

We fell in love with the beauty of Ventnor and by chance spotted Clarence House in the window of a local estate agent.........

And so here we are.

With our Elegant, Victorian Manor House in the heart of Ventnor with 4 holiday apartments and gorgeous views over Ventnor Park.

Lovely apartment, would recommend.

Great apartment to stay in for Ventnor, only a short walk to the town for restaurants and also easy access to the coastal paths for walking. Directly opposite are the botanical gardens, which you can walk through to reach the sea. The apartment itself was very comfortable, and everything that you could need provided to a high standard. Lovely rear garden to enjoy if the sun is out. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in this area.

This open plan 1st Floor apartment is compact, quiet and cosy. It is attractively decorated, clean and fresh and well appointed. On this occasion we booked through English Country Cottages (ECC) but their photos in particular did not do the property justice.

The kitchen itself is very compact but use of its limited space is well planned.

The double bedroom and en-suite shower room are also of a high standard and the provision of night-time bottles of water and chocs were nice touches to greet us.

With only street parking the pathway and steps up to the apartment were fine for us (again well thought out and lit at night), but could be difficult for those with mobility problems. The communal patio (we understand still a work in progress) is nicely laid out and colourful and we enjyedsitting out there when weather premitted.

The owners were low profile but warm, friendly and helpful. We tried a couple of their local restaurant recommendations which we thoroughly enjoyed. El Toro Contento is a must visit!

The location was ideally situated between Ventnor town and Steephill Cove with Ventnor Park directly opposite.

We definitely hope to get backk and can recommend it to anyone as long as their dates don`t clash with ours!!

Brilliant stay

I treated my girlfriend to a trip away and boy we were in for a shock. As the price was very reasonable we didn't expect to receive the service and overall facilities we did. True l memorable and just brilliant. Definately recommend to anyone and everyone.

Classy, spotless, well located and fully equipped.

The photos for this property do not do it justice. Our apartment was stylish and spotless and had everything we needed - it is more like a boutique hotel in style than the old fashioned apartments you often end up in. We had wonderful views over the secluded garden where we had breakfast nearly every morning. We loved the special touches like chocolates on the pillow, bottled water by the bed, personalised welcome letter and lush toiletries and the gardens looked magical with fairy lights in the trees. Ventnor is charming with some great restaurants (especially the Ale & Oyster) and we loved the Botanical Gardens just across the road - fantastic restaurant for lunch there too with amazing salads. The chilli market stand is superb and we came home with lots of goodies and some great memories. We would definitely recommend the apartment, property and Ventnor for a great holiday and have already recommended it to several friends. A great find!

Well appointed good touring base

We stayed in the two person Victoria apartment at the back of the house. This had been recently decorated with good quality furnishings and fittings. There is a very nice outside patio garden for those enjoying al fresco breakfast. The owners were very friendly and approachable. The location, opposite the Ventnor cliff park, is excellent, with the town centre 10-15 minutes easy walk in one direction and the stunning Steep Hill cove 15-20 minutes in the other. A good base to explore other parts of the island [max 30-40 minutes by car]. Royal Hotel restaurant [and piano bar on Saturday], five minutes walk for fine food. Suit any reasonably fit and active couple [there are a few steps up to the back of the house]. Well recommended.

We fell in love with Ventnor and the friendliness of "The Islanders". It truly has a different feel from the mainland and yet is only 1/2 an hour away by Catamaran or Ferry. A drive through the country lanes brings lots of Ohhhs and Ahhhs at the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the quaint thatched villages. A superb destination for walkers, cyclists or the hearty tri-athletes. There is much to be seen on the Coastal Path with striking chalk geology featuring heavily here in the south. There are great views out to sea and many interesting places to visit, reflecting the island's heritage and royal patronage over the years. Isle of Wight boasts many wonderful cycling and riding routes around the island's dramatic coast line with varying degrees of difficulty.

Of special interest is the vast array of cycling, walking and swimming spots on the Island.With advice and information available from Robert who is a keen cyclist and open water swimmer.


More than half the Isle of Wight has been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty, and there are 65 miles of coastline to explore. Along the more beautiful south coast there's a beach to suit everyone. A 5 min stroll down the winding path and through the cascading gardens, you are on the golden beachfront of Ventnor, which has something of a riviera feel. The tide is strong here, but the beach itself is clean, mainly sandy, easily accessible, and has rockpools to poke around in at either end.


There are several ways to get onto the Island. From Lymington,Southampton and Portsmouth both Red Funnel and WightLink provide a very good ferry service.

Distance from Ryde or Fishbourne to Ventnor is apprx 12 miles of lovely countryside driving. ( or cycling for the more adventurous )


We are in the heart of Ventnor so all amenities are accessible by walking.

  • Notes on accommodation: Please bear in mind that Ventnor is a steeply sloping town from the hills at St Boniface Down toward the sea, and therefor so is Clarence House. We have slowly graduating steps up to the house, and slightly steeper ones around through the garden to the Apartments. It is not suitable for the mobility impaired and there is unfortunately no wheelchair access. It is also not suitable for small children and therefore we have a minimum age limit of 12 years old Outside: The sheltered location of Ventnor on the cliff of the Island's south coast means we experiences a microclimate with more sunny days than much of the British Isles, and fewer frosts. This has allowed many species of subtropical plant to be successfully planted and maintained. Do not be surprised to see growing in the garden plants that are native to New Zeland or the Canary Islands. Osborne Apartment at Clarence House has use of a lovely secluded sun trap garden with tables and chairs to enjoy afternoon tea or a glass of wine
