About Lesley SOULSBY

My Husband Ian and I moved to France in 2007 to renovate a house we fell in love with while on holiday. Now our children have left home, there is room aplenty and we have separated the accommodation to make a gite. We look forward to sharing our tranquil surrounding with you.

Lesley SOULSBY purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Why Lesley SOULSBY chose Saint-Aubin-de-Terregatte

We moved to France in 2007 when we found our home whilst on holiday, it was in the middle of a field with cows walking in and out of the large building and needed total renovation. We took on the challenge and started work. Now finished and with our children living their own lives, we would love to share this lovely tranquil setting with others.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our property is set within seven acres of land surrounded with lovely country side.

With over an acre of garden down to lawn and shrubs, with our own woodland, there is plenty of space for children of all ages to run and play. We have a stream running along the edge of our property with shady walks. Swings slides and climbing tower, and many other activities for children to enjoy

In the surrounding area there are many interesting places to visit with both Normandy and Brittany beaches close by. The area offers sand yachts, go-carting and many other interesting attractions. We are with in the bay of Mont St Michel on the cycle route for those wishing to bring bicycles. Historical sites:

Mont St Michel - Fougeres Castle - The American Cemetary - Avranches with many historical buildings including 'Pattens Tank'

Gloriously peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

Set in gorgeous countryside with easy access to many areas of interest. Ian & Lesley are really friendly & knowledgeable about the area. The house itself is comfortable & well equipped. Well maintained & spacious gardens which are very safe for the children with swings, slide & a securely locked swim pool. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a restful break away from the hustle & bustle

Wonderful holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic trip here and would recommend to anyone. The photos online, whilst lovely, don't do justice to the place. The accommodation is large and a lovely place to be (plenty of room for the 3 adults and 3 children that were in our party). It was immaculately clean and well equipped (from the kitchen to the videos/dvds to the bathrooms). The gardens were beautiful and our kids loved playing on the swings, slide, Wendy house and trampoline while the adults enjoyed cooking on the BBQ and enjoying the sunshine. The pool was great for our kids (all between 4-5 years)- it is raised up and behind a locked fence/gate so no risk of kids accidentally getting in without supervision. It was also a good size for us - big enough for us all to be in at once but small enough that the less confident swimmers could get from one side to the other easily. You wouldn't do fitness laps in here but perfect sized for playing games with the kids who loved diving off the steps to collect weights off the bottom. Ian and Lesley were fantastic hosts and were always available if we had any questions or needed anything but at the same time allowed us our space to enjoy the property in privacy. The kids all fell in love with Horatio the dog who was fantastic with them and very gentle and well mannered. All in all a wonderful holiday home in a beautiful setting. Thanks so much Ian and Lesley!

Stunning property, lovely huge gardens, great for children

  • 5 of 5

Such a lovely barn conversion with lots of character - we stayed for a week with our 4 year old and he was constantly entertained, there was a giant enclosed trampoline, a pirate ship climbing frame with swings, a private heated swimming pool, a Wendy house, a pedalo tractor and trailer and a box of toys indoors too - a happy child = happy parents who can relax and fully enjoy their food and wine! BBQ provided too. The owners were wonderful, friendly and helpful whilst being aware of your privacy. Horatio their black lab and our son swiftly became pals too.

Could not recommend this property enough, everything a holiday in Normandy/Brittany should be, we'll be back!

Great holiday venue

  • 5 of 5

This property was just as described on the website, and we made use of all that was offered - all 9 of us! This property would equally suit a smaller number, but for our three generational, two car visit with four adults and five children aged nine to fifteen, it proved ideal. The children loved the spiral staircase, the four boys fitted into the bunk room with the extra beds and we grandparents enjoyed the downstairs bedroom and en suite, well worth the extra amount paid for privacy and seclusion.

There was plenty of space and seating for all in the large living/dining area.

The kitchen was well stocked and equipped, though more than one at a time was a squeeze in the narrow space - good excuse to leave all the work to some one else!!

On arrival the owners large and friendly dog caused apprehension to the dog fearing member of the party, but was soon got used to, and kept well under control by Lesley and Ian, the owners, who could not have been more friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The swimming pool (to be replaced by a larger one next year) proved lots of splashy fun, and after a wet day spent indoors, was a good way to get really wet in suitable bathing attire in spite of the rain.

The grounds were beautifully kept with play equipment and a separate ball game area.

If we had not wished to explore the surrounding area we could have happily spent the entire week in this peaceful retreat without leaving the grounds. We visited Mont St Michel, St Malo, Granville, Ducey and Fougeres with its wonderful castle.

I would recommend this venue to anybody not wanting to venture more than five to six hours from Calais and hope they enjoy it as much as we did.

Tout était parfait dans la maison. Il ne manquait rien. Propriétaires très à l'écoute de leurs hôtes

  • 5 of 5
