About Jill Edwards

We are a family of 5 from Edinburgh.

Jill Edwards purchased this house in 2013

Why Jill Edwards chose Fife & St Andrews

We have refurbished The Manse to provide a retreat from the "bustle" of city life. With golf, beaches and plenty of space for kids, we believe it ticks all the boxes.

What makes this house unique

If there's a large rental property in the East Neuk with these views and providing this standard of accommodation, we have yet to see it! And certainly not one within 100 yards of Scotland's finest fish & chip shop!

Location

Coast/Beach:

There is an abundance of excellent beaches in the area - the nearest being within 100 yards. For those into walking, Anstruther is also part of the Fife Coastal Path (and arguably part of its finest stretch).

Travel:

Edinburgh Airport is 70 mins away.

The Manse is within the village itself and is served by a bus route. A car is therefore not essential - but with parking immediately outside and a plethora of places to explore, we would suggest one is advisable.

Distances:

The property is in the village.

The fishing villages of Pittenweem and Crail are 5 minutes away.

St.Andrews is 15 minutes drive.

Excellent large family / group house

  • 4 of 5

Well appointed . Lots of space in every room . Clean and tidy throughout. The large kitchen/diner is fabulous with views to the garden and sea beyond. Large bedrooms with most being en-suite . Our family had a splendid week in Anstruther and are sure to return.

Great house great location

  • 5 of 5

Used as a base for a weeks golf tour in the area. Lovely big house with fantastic views out to sea. All the amenities you could wish for. The only small negative would be that the super large kitchen living area is screaming out for a large TV. At the moment the TV is on the first floor but we all felt like we wanted to stay in the kitchen area. Local amenities are good with a few pubs, chip shops and restaurants. Would definitely return.

Lovely break in Anstruther

  • 4 of 5

Lovely property. Well equipped for large group. Superb situation. Easy stroll to harbour front and lovely pubs and restaurants. Mixed weather at this time of year but managed to sit out in the lovely wee garden for a bit. Would be a wonderful space in the summer.

Very spacious property

  • 5 of 5

Very well presented rooms with loads of space for everyone. The kitchen was well equiped and overall provision was excellent. The views over the water towards the Bass Rock were fabulous. Our two 12 year old grand daughters loved the garden area where they practised their gymnastic routines.

Wading, walking, wildlife and weather. Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. It is a fabulous home and we really enjoyed using the facilities. The sonos speakers were a great success and a very sneaky way of getting everyone up in the morning!

We waded in the rock pools every day and became very friendly with the local herons, curlew, oyster catchers, red shanks and diving turns!

We walked from Shell Bay to Anstruther. Walked the Elie Chain. Ran along the coastal path in both directions. Spent hours in Edinburgh Castle and St Andrews.

We ate in the Ship Inn and The Cellar and of course had fish and chips from the Anstruther Fish Bar. All exceeded expectations.

We didn't get chance to eat at the smokehouse but went in to check it out for next time!

To top it all we had the most fabulous weather and a spectacular storm.

What more could we ask from a holiday.
