Puerto de la Duquesa is one of the Costa del Sol’s best kept secrets. Within easy reach of two international airports, Malaga (50 minutes) and Gibraltar (30 minutes) Duquesa seems a thousand miles away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday resorts.

Malaga airport is serviced by all the low cost airlines and due to the new AP7 toll road the journey to Duquesa is direct and takes under an hour.

On arrival at Malaga airport private transfers and hire cars can be arranged via our recommended partners.

La Duquesa enjoys an advantageous location to the west of Marbella. The area retains a vast amount of unspoiled natural scenery and authentic local character whilst sharing the fantastic climate and all the excellent services and infrastructure of the Costa del Sol.

Duquesa is an ideal balance of relaxed living with easy access to an abundance of local attractions.

All apartments are located around the courtyard of Monte Duquesa which is a desirable location with its pretty square, café bars, sports and wine bars. Other on your doorstep amenities include a mini market, golf shop, take away, estate agents, taxi rank and other small outlets.

Duquesa Holidays also owns the main restaurant and bar located in the courtyard that enables us to offer a full check in / check out service, which includes a personal meet and greet by our key holder who will check you in and take you to your apartment. Our key holder is also available 24 hours a day should you need any assistance during your stay.

Monte Duquesa is a safe secured gated complex with a mixture of owners and holiday homes. The grounds and gardens are well maintained with a large pool area, a separate pool for children and plenty of free sunbeds, also an outside toilet and changing facility.

Whilst other rental apartments in the areas are only 85 square meters our apartments boast a minimum of 120 square meters of spacious living accommodation, with L-shaped sofas, 40-inch flat screen TV’s with both UK TV channels and a selection of Sky channels. The dining area has a glass table and ample seating, and the outside terrace area also has seating. There is a fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, sink and washing machine. Each apartment has a master bedroom which is furnished with a king sized bed, flat screen TV, wardrobe space and en-suite. The guest bedrooms are equipped with two single beds which can be put together to make a double if required. If you are booking for a party of more than four people our three-bedroom apartment will comfortably sleep seven and benefits from an additional 3rd bedroom with a second upstairs terrace which also has views over the Mediterranean. All apartments have free FIBRE Wi-Fi and are fitted with newly installed air conditioning units.

All of our properties are fully compliant with the new 2016 Spanish holiday rental regulations which have been put into place to raise the standard of holiday lets in Spain. Each apartment is fitted with a first aid kit, fire blanket, smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm. Duquesa Holidays provides each apartment with a welcome pack detailing important numbers, complaints book, useful Spanish phrases, local markets, bus timetables and local area information.

Duquesa Marina

The beautiful port of La Duquesa is only an 8-10 minute walk away from the apartment. The marina offers full marine services for the boating enthusiast including boat trips and other water sports. For those that have no aspirations to take to the water the attractive promenades encircling the port offer a variety of restaurants, intimate bars and cafes in which to relax and unwind. The marina boasts some 40 restaurants arranged over three levels with fountains. There are French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and of course Spanish restaurants with its fresh local fish. Amenities also include pharmacy, banks, supermarkets and tourist information.


Duquesa has a frequent bus service which can take you up and down the coast.


Within 1 km of our apartments you will find two major supermarkets. Our personal favourite is Lidl with its fresh fish and meat stall.


On both sides of Duquesa Marina there is a beach with ‘chiringuitos’ (beach restaurants). Playa de las Gaviotas and Playa del Castillio to the west with Chiringuito Las Gaviotas which is open in the summer. On Playa de Sabillias to the east is a beach bar called Cubanga which is open all year around.


A short walk to the west of Puerto de la Duquesa is the little fishing hamlet of Castillio from which the marina gets its name. The castle built in 1767 can be visited and is often used for local exhibitions. Nearby are largely unexcavated Roman ruins and in the hamlet are a number of bars and tapas restaurants.

A short walk to the east it the fishing village of Sabinillas. A seafront promenade makes a pleasant walk.

Cosmopolitan life can be found only twenty minutes away in the jet set city of Marbella with its shopping experiences ranging from the El Corte Ingles and the sprawling La Canada shopping centre. Also there are an infinite variety of small shops and boutiques lining the cobble stoned streets of Old Marbella.

With Costa del Sol now firmly established as the premier golfing destination in Europe if not the world, golfers from all over the world are arriving in the Puerto De La Duquesa area to play the over 50 challenging courses. And why not? Both the Ryder Cup and the World Golf championships have been held just a short distance away at Valderrama.

The Puerto De La Duquesa area has over 50 courses, all offering very reasonable green fees and all only a short flight from Northern Europe. This has made it the ideal destination for a golfing holiday where you can go to relax, soak up the warm Spanish sun and play a few rounds of golf with friends.

Do the apartments have WIFI?


How long is the drive from Malaga Airport?

You have two options, if you take the new toll road the journey should take you around 50 minutes, the toll road is called the AP7. The alternative route would be taking the old coastal road the A7, this is the more scenic route and takes around 80 minutes.

How far are you from the Marina?

We are located above the marina, you can easily walk down to the Marina in under 10 minutes.

Are there any onsite amenities?

Yes, in the Courtyard you will find a few cafes, bars and restaurants.

Fantastic Place!

We stayed in the garden apartment which was ideal for us seeing as we had a 5 year old and 6 month old. We didn't want to be lugging up stairs to higher floors but to be honest they were only about 10 steps higher so wouldn't have been a problem.

Rooms were spotless, kitchen was well equipped and a nice welcome package was just what we needed for immediate supplies upon arrival (orange juice, milk, tea coffee sugar etc). Towels were were also plentiful in our apartment.

Location was ideal for the apartments pool,only a short walk away and it had the usual towels draped on the sun loungers for long periods of time with no sign of owners, but it didn't bother us as sun loungers were alway available. We were also really close to the amenities in the complex being Kelly's Bar (bbq ribs are amazing), mini mart and other bar/restaurants.

The apartment wasn't very far from the port (10 minute walk if that) but we didn't realise how steep the hill would be (which wasn't a problem going down), but when it was time to turn around and head back to our apartment, it was less fun with a pushchair to hike along with a cranky 5 year old who's legs suddenly stopped working :)

In the port area, we visited the Indian on the front as a birthday treat which was spot on and the Mexican bar and grill which we likened to Chiquitos here in the uk, very good!

We visited Marbella (25mins) Ronda (1hr) and Gibraltar (35mins) during our stay, all perfectly accessible by car from this apartment. We did use the toll roads AP7 to get around as they were quieter and faster but can be costly at €5- to Marbella €12.50 between Malaga and Duquesa. Use the A7 to avoid these costs.

The only issue we had was with the electric meter while we were there. It wouldn't accept any coins meaning we ran out of credit, but this was sorted after a couple of hours by Trish who manages the apartment from Kelly's bar and added credit for us complimentary. Other than that nothing bad to say about our stay.

We would recommend this apartment to anyone, please don't let the hill put you off, it's not for very long. Wheelchair users on the other hand....taxi!

Great apartment.great dialogue with Greg before arrival and first class service from Trish the key holder from Kellys bar.apartment exactly as photos show not ten year old photos as some in the past,three large TVs in bedrooms and lounge,two great showers,nice comfy double bed,new kitchen,spotlessly clean,all in all a first class apartment and great service from Greg and Trish,hopefully see you in the future.Many thanks from David and Diane Manley

We have just stayed in Greg’s apartment for 2 months. The apartment in La Duquesa was excellent, clean and roomy with lovely grounds and a big swimming pool that doesn’t get busy. Many thanks again, we had a great time. We will consider returning next year so I may well be in touch with you again if that's ok. Also a big thank you to all your staff who went the extra mile and made our holiday even more enjoyable.

Brilliant Holiday!!

We stayed in Gregs apartment for a week during September, the apartment was big and clean and was actually a lot bigger than it looked in the pictures. You have everything you need right on your doorstep, cafes, a taxi rank, and a small mini market. If you want something abit more lively its only a few minutes walk down to the port which has plently of bars and places to eat. We had a great holiday and we hope to be back soon!

Very comfortable apartment with good facilities.

We had a lovely holiday in the apartment. The booking process was very efficient and any queries we had were answered quickly and efficiently by Greg.The whole of the apartment was very clean and modern, with a well equipped kitchen and a good size balcony to dine out on. On arrival there was a nice welcome pack of milk, wine etc which was very thoughtful. The wi-fi and UK TV channels were also very welcome.The pool area is spacious and never crowded ( we were there in August) with plenty of sun beds .

There are a couple of bars in the courtyard area but they close about 10.30 so there is no late night noise at all. Trish (the key holder) is a lovely lady and was very helpful when we arrived. We used the owners car and the pick up at the airport went smoothly as Greg had provided very comprehensive instructions to enable us to locate the car and the apartment. The apartment is a short down hill walk to the marina and the town of Sabinillas where you will find an excellent choice of bars and restaurants. It is a short drive to the lovely village of Casares which is well worth a visit. La Duquessa is a lovely unspoilt area of the coast.

The best sandy beaches are within 400m a short 5 minute stroll away with beach chiringuitos serving fresh local foods. Duquesa Marina is bustling with life has waterside bars and cafes open all day and also hosts a variety of restaurants.


Malaga airport is 45 minutes by car, Gibraltar 25 minutes and Jerez about 1.5hrs. These airports are readily serviced by international and some budget airlines including Thomsonfly, Ryanair, Easyjet and Monarch. The flight time is approximately 2.5 hours. La Duquesa is accessible by main coastal roads or take the new toll road which will get you to your destination quicker. A car is recommended but not essential as all Duquesa amenities are within walking distance.
