About the property

House in Cwmgwdi, Brecon, Powys, Wales - Lots To Do - Walk The Biggest Peaks From The Door, Wonderful Cycling, Great For Children

Danyfan is beautiful, spacious holiday house with views over the gardens and up to the mountains. It's just 2 miles outside of Brecon but it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere.

Danyfan sleeps 10 (plus 2 on a sofa bed) in 5 stylish and comfortable bedrooms, with 4 luxurious bathrooms. 2 of the bedrooms can either be set up as twin or doubles, and there is a pull out bed and 2 cots if needed. It has loads of space, with a sitting room, a library, a big kitchen which is very well equipped and great for catering, and a wonderful conservatory with views of the mountains, and a pool /ping pong table.

Outside is a wonderful garden, great for children with plenty of space to roam and a trampoline, swings and slide to play on.

From Danyfan there are hundreds of activities to take on. You can walk from the front door straight up to Penyfan and its neighbouring peaks, Corn Du and Cribyn. We have some of the best road biking and mountain biking trails around on our doorstop. There is great fishing, horse riding, caving, climbing and trail running. There are spas, wonderful boutique shops and farmers markets, and country pubs, enjoying the various events throughout the year.

The owners, who live next door, are happy to advise on walking/ cycling routes and activities.

Families can take day trips to the Owl Centre, The National Showcaves, Botanic Garden of Wales, Brecon Mountain Railway and the nearby Cantref Adventure Centre. It's also a perfect base for festivals – The Green Man, Hay Literary Festival, Abergavenny Food Festival and Brecon Jazz.

A lovely house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house at the foot of Pen y Fan and only a few minutes’ drive from Brecon. We stayed with family and friends and had a fantastic time. The house is spacious and well-equipped. Would certainly recommend it.

Women's Group Reunion, June 2018

  • 5 of 5

We all loved staying in your very well equipped, delightfully situated, large house in the depths of hilly green, baa-ing, moo-ing and chirping countryside. Beautiful.

Amazing to have so many bathrooms and wonderful kitchen among all the other interesting spaces, inside and out. Great views from all the windows as well.

Not forgetting your generosity of very professional sourdough bread and rich brownies, delicious!

We were interested in the architecture of Danyfan and how it came to be built in the depths go the countryside. Any information on that would be welcome.

As well as a great walk around the neighbouring country [didn't quite make it to the top of the horseshoe] we enjoyed time out in Brecon and especially a day in Hay-on-Wye.

We'd very happily recommend it to any groups looking for a country break.

With many thanks

Liz

Superb property, with spacious rooms and stunning views of the Brecon Beacons.

  • 5 of 5

This property is at the end of one of the access roads leading to the Brecon Beacon. The house is well appointed and has enclosed gardens for children to play, with games aplenty and swings and a trampoline. Inside the house there is a good supply of indoor games (pool, snooker, table tennis, plus a wide variety of games and puzzles.

There are excellent, rather challenging, walks close to the house which are used by the military for endurance training - it's easy to see why!

In addition to the hill walking there are numerous local attractions, including the very attractive petite city of Brecon (in 2011, the population was only around 10,000 people). The city has an eclectic mix of architecture, ranging from the 10th century cathedral and castle through to pleasing buildings from latter centuries. The local Monmouth and Brecon canal is particularly attractive and has a mix of boats for hire or for pleasure trips.

In the short time we had in the area we only touched the surface of the experiences available to visitors. We will definitely be visiting this property, and the Brecon area in general, again.

Excellent place for a group gaming/walkingholiday.

  • 5 of 5

Pretty garden, well kept and at the foot of Pen-y-van, which is a lovely climb. Well equipped house with all the kitchen utensils we needed for group cooking and bathrooms enough there were no queues on the mornings. Lots of rooms that were big enough for is to split up and play different board games and a big BBQ and outdoor seating in the back.
