Maison Agnes is situated 5 minutes' walk from the centre of the medieval village of Laurens in the wine district of Faugeres. It is a one storey villa in a secluded Mediterranean garden with a private pool 10x4m. UK satellite TV and French channels, DVD player and free internet access. Here you can also find a pool shower, 8 sun chairs and a group of sofa and armchairs and a table for a cold drink or a cup of coffee. In the front garden there are several fruit trees, like pears, apricote, figs, pomegranate, walnut and clementine and you are allowed to pick them when they are ripe. There is parking space for several cars in the garden and a car port.

In the village you can taste wine in several wineries. You can also find 2 bakeries, 1 butcher, 1 pharmacy, 1 take away restaurant, 1 restaurant, 1 small grocery store and a newly opened Medical Health centre, a post office and all within walking distance.

About the Owner

We Agneta and Carl Blomqvist, live in Sweden, but when we retired we decided to spend some months every year in the South of France. We bought the house in Laurens in July 2013 and since then we have renovated most of it and built a pool of 10X4 m. Our Giant Schnauzer also follows us to France.

Very well presented villa, lovely garden and pool

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 adults and a 4 month old baby thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at the Villa Agnes in Laurens. The inside and outside spaces worked very well for us and we felt the house was very well equipped and presented. The internal layout was well matched to our needs and the warm weather ensured that the lovely garden, outside living spaces and the pool area and were well utilised. The house has ample parking and Laurens provides an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas which have a lot to offer.

Great stay at Maison Agnes

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the house and pool it was an excellent choice for a family of six adults and two children. The house was well equipped including air conditioning which was a boon with temperatures up to 35 deg. There was plenty of shade in the garden and by the pool in which the whole family spent a lot of time. The area around Laurens had plenty of good towns such as Pezenas and also villages well worth visiting also easy shopping options for food just down the road at Magalas and daily bread only five minutes walk away in the village. Quite happy to recommend this as a great holiday home.

Lovely owners, lovely property

  • 4 of 5

The owners were lovely and answered all my questions and purchased extra equipment to help cater for our needs. The property was well equipped and very comfortable. We all loved the pool and the vast areas to sit or play in. Our only complaint was with the house keepers who made us feel quite uncomfortable when they came. Luckily, this was very infrequent even when we needed help with the pool. I would still return, however, as they cannot take away from the property or the owners. They are the reason for the loss of one star.

Home from home in Laurens

Beautifully renovated villa. The garden was very secluded and attractive. We particularly enjoyed eating under the trees. Very clean with lovely new furnishings and appliances. Couldn't fault it!

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderfully peaceful, quiet week in what is a home from home. The owners, Carl and Agneta, have clearly invested much time and effort in updating the property, which is cosy, well-appointed, secluded and spacious. The garden is well-stocked and, most importantly, not overlooked.

Granted, there is little to do in Laurens itself but then sit in the garden with a glass of wine reading a book under the shade of the trees and listen to the silence: no noisy neighbours and no traffic, just tranquillity. There is plenty to do in the surrounding areas: Beziers (shopping), Pezenas (antiques), Aigues Mortes (sight-seeing) and any number of wonderful beaches.

I couldn't recommend this property more highly.

Wonderful house and home

  • 5 of 5

Maison Agnes is a veritable home from home - cosy, well-appointed, peaceful and relaxing. Take the opportunity to read a book in the garden under the tree in the sun and before you know it, you've read it from cover to cover. It's true that there isn't much to do in Laurens but that in itself is fine - it's just wonderful not hearing people and traffic and there's plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Go and visit Pezenas (antiques) or Aigues Mortes (sight-seeing).

The owners, Carl and Agneta, have clearly invested a lot of time and effort in updating the property and are a delight to deal with. I couldn't recommend Maison Agnes or the Blomqvists more highly.

From the Owner

We bought the house because we wanted to come closer to French culture, food and wine. Our house is surrounded by French families who are very friendly and helpful. Close to the house is a nature reserve where we can hike with our dog. Within one hour's drive there are a lot of interesting and historic places to visit. The beaches are 30 minutes' drive from the house.

As we are new to the area we have a lot to explore, but we have visited Albi with its famous Cathedral and Toulose Lautrec museum, Aigues Mortes the fortified Town with the wall from 1250. The historic town of Carcasonne is also well worth a visit.
