Calella is a natural fishing village, very little has changed over the years, there are numerous sheltered coves and beaches fringing a crystal clear turquoise sea. Within 400 metres of the apartment you are in unspoilt countryside where you can walk or cycle to other coves and magnificent beaches without crossing any public road. This includes the ancient Cami de Ronda, paths run the entire length of the coast and offer the most beautiful coastal walks imaginable. Close by are the Botanical Gardens at Cap Roig, near El Golfet, with fabulous views out to sea, where in July and August, there is a festival of open air concerts, where famous stars from around the world perform.

Why Owen JONES chose Baix Emporda

We like Calella because of its genuine Spanish and family atmosphere. We can combine a spacious apartment, a super pool and gardens where the children can safely meet and play with others and we are very close to the beach and sea front. However just as important for us is the beautiful green countryside just behind the property through which we run and cycle (without hills) - often to other beaches down the coast. The nearby town of Palafrugell has a traditional atmosphere and has great town square and daily market with fantastic vegetables and fish.

What makes this apartment unique

We looked for years and didn't find anywhere else on this part of the coast that so well combined all of these elements.

Just wanted to let you know that we've had a lovely time at your apartment, in Calella, Llafranch, Tamariu and Begur.

It's a lovely development, great pool and gardens, well-maintained. The garage spaces (7 & 8) are a little tight when everyone else has filled up their spaces, but I have got to know my car intimately as a consequence and we avoided any scratches.

Outside: Beautiful views towards across the valley to the lighthouse of Llafranc. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Large 25 metre pool with steps and rail for easy access. Separate children's pool. Ample lawns for sunbathing around the pool. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, clothes line. Open to the outside via shutters. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided (not beach towels). Cleaning at an extra cost can be arranged for a stay of more than 2 weeks.

Great apartment in a nice location

We had a great stay at Owen's! Being two families with 4 adults and 5 children we had no problems in the spacious apartment. It had all we needed and was well equipped. Only thing to consider are the number of stairs. It gives a great view, but not suited for people with disabilities.

Owen was very responsive and helped as with anything we needed. Thank you for a great stay and our kids already want to go back!

Wonderful apartment in our favourite part of Spain

Overall, this property is extremely spacious, very well equipped, clean, tastefully decorated and the views are wonderful.

It is in a peaceful setting with beautifully maintained grounds and a large pool that we often had to ourselves.

The terraces are an ideal place to chill and the roof terrace has sun for most of the day. Idyllic to sit and look at the fabulous views with a g & t.

It's about 15 -20 mins walk down to the coastal village. Calella de palafrugel itself is very picturesque and unspoilt with many excellent restaurants to choose from. Coastal walk to Llafranc is an easy stroll and the botanical gardens of Cap Roig are also within walking distance. Also worth walking into Palafrugel for a mooch, particularly on market days. Barcelona is only 1.5 hrs drive so is doable for a day or night.

The apartment is excellent value and comes highly recommended. When we are next visiting the area we would certainly try to rebook this property.

Lovely apartment, highly recommended

We were a family of eight, four adults and four children ranging from 3 to 68 years, this apartment suited all our needs we loved it. It is spacious, light and airy, beautiful views, well appointed and equipped, clean and as described. The owner was easy to communicate with and very helpful. I would definitely recommend the apartment and be happy to return.

We enjoyed many relaxed meals on the balcony with it's beautiful views. The pool area was perfect with a mixture of Spanish, English and French families. It was an easy walk into Port Bo which is the beach we like to use with lots of rocks and rock pools for the children to climb and explore. There are many small restaurants which are delightful and serve excellent food. You can sit and have an evening meal and drink and be able to keep an eye on the children while they play on the beach (many families do this), it is so friendly. This was the third time we have been to Calella de Palafrugel, we love it and this was the best apartment we have rented.

Great family holiday in a lovely apartment

We were very comfortable in this apartment, which had everything that we needed. The balcony view was splendid and we enjoyed many meals and evenings there. A good base to drive to various beaches and other places of interest, as well as simply enjoy the pool and other facilities in the complex. Many thanks for letting us stay. Recommended.

Lovely 4 bedroom duplex

Apartment had lots of space with all you need ie wifi, washer, dryer, tv, two terraces where we had dinner a lot, It was great to have off road parking too. The pool was never overly busy so was very relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. It's a short walk into town where there are numerous restaurants to choose from. We used the local Spar for our shopping but the bigger supermarkets in Palafrugell are a lot cheaper if this a concern. The Sunday market in Palafrugell is worth a trip as you can sit in the square and watch the world go by when you've finished shopping. We also visited Cap Roig gardens, and Salvador Dali wife's house in Pubol which is definitely a good day out. We stopped for lunch in Bisbal on the way home as they had lovely ceramic shops to mooch around in. We took a day trip to Palamos too which is good for present shopping. Think you need a car here if you're staying for longer than a week as could get a little samey. The sangria in the restaurants cost 14 Euros ( a little steep) but we soon discovered the local bottles in the supermarket for around 2 Euros, it's lovely mixed with the local Prosecco or cava. This apartment is as described and Owen was a pleasure to deal with and efficient with the paperwork. We stayed for 12 days and the weather was beautiful. The area is very Spanish and not a lot of English is spoken but we had no difficulties as a result of this, there were Germans, Spanish and several French families when we were there. The apartments were very quiet in the evening and had no issues with noise.

Travel:

Airports: Girona 45 minutes; Barcelona 1 ½ hours; Perpignan 2hrs.

There is a bus service to Palafrugell (from 3km from Calella) from Barcelona and Girona airports. A car is not necessary but gives more flexibility.
