The River Lochy is referred to as the Queen of the North, set in the Great Glen, with views of Ben Nevis to the South, and the Glen to the North. The Caledonian Canal runs along the river, so tall sailing ships will pass silently along the other side of the valley from the house. Ivy Cottage is situated at the top of the river on Beat One, where you will see anglers fly fishing for salmon. You can access some of the best walking in the UK from Ivy, either on foot, or by taking a short 10 minute drive to Ben Nevis and the Nevis range. Take the A830 and within an hour you are on some of the finest beaches in Europe, with sand brought from the Caribbean on the prevailing tides. If it is the more extreme outdoor activities that interest you, Ivy Cottage welcomes mountain bikers that want to take on the extremes of the Nevis range, and the cottage is set up to allow you and your bikes to be clean and warm at the end of the day. What ever your reason for visiting the Highlands, Ivy cottage provides a warm welcome, and the set up is designed to make your stay warm and comfortable. In 2014 new Ground source heat pumps were installed, and a new extension added providing an underfloor heated walk in drying room for all outdoor clothing. Ivy cottage is set in 110 acres of its own land, with numerous bothy's and ruins for the kids to explore. The drive is a no-though road so the only traffic you might come across are anglers coming to and form the river each day. This magical retreat is set up for those engaging with the outdoors, and whilst pets are welcome they are requested to be kept in the drying room, where the underfloor heating will keep them comfortable and warm.

Ivy Cottage is a beautiful, recently refurbished highland cottage set in 110 acres of its own land on the banks of the river Lochy.

Enjoying uninterrupted views up and down the Great Glen, Ivy has recently had a new ground source heat pump central heating system fitted, so guarantees a warm reception for its guests.

Situated 10 minutes north of Fort William Ivy's sitting room with open fire, large kitchen dinning room, and large under floor heated walk in drying room enable guests with any outdoor activity in mind, whether Hiking, Skiing or Mountain Biking to relax and unwind regardless of the elements in total comfort and warmth. The 6 twin rooms all with new British hand made back care mattresses and 3 well appointed bathrooms provide comfortable sleeping and the Ground Source heat pumps deliver a constant supply of hot water for a much needed bath or shower after a day in the highlands.

Pets are welcome by arrangement but expected to live in the underfloor heated drying room

Fantastic cottage

This is a fantastic cottage set in beautiful surroundings. There were 11 adults and 2 children in our party. There was plenty of space for everyone and nobody felt crammed. The cottage was spotless on arrival and it was well equipped for everything you would require. Even the dogs enjoyed themselves sleeping in the dry room. It's a fantastic cottage in a superb setting, if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of city living.

Fantastic Cottage

This is a fantastic cottage. It's a great size for family gatherings. In our party there were 11 adults and 2 children. We had plenty of space and nobody felt that we were crammed or in top of each other. It was spotless on arrival and catered for every need. The surroundings are amazing. Even the dogs were happy sleeping in the dry room! It's an ideal location if you're looking for a remote cottage but surrounded by amazing beauty!

Ivy Cottage

Ivy cottage is perfectly situated such that you appear to be isolated and in the wilderness where, in fact, shops are only 15 mins away. Similarly, access to ski slopes, mountain bike tracks or river is within the same 15 mins. The quiet is only interrupted by the odd sheep and occasional pony noises.

The house is spacious enough to accommodate no fewer than 12 persons in 6 bedrooms accompanied by 3 bathrooms. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and well equipped, central heating provides warmth where necessary and the recently extended back rooms (with underfloor heating) offer extensive storage and drying facilities for skiing, fishing and biking equipment. Logs are provided for an open hearth fire in the sitting room and the house is wifi connected with a landline to take incoming calls.

We found the accommodation comfortable, reasonably priced and very good value.

Ivy cottage

We have stayed at many houses in Scotland over the years and consider Ivy to be amongst the best. The house is spacious, simply but attractively furnished and with excellent facilities that include a large well appointed kitchen, living room with open fire, excellent hot water and heating, ancillary fridge and freezer room and a huge cloak/drying room with under floor heating. It is very clean and well maintained

It is situated on the river Lochy in the midst open fields with beautiful highland views. , We have been there for the last two years and look forward to returning next year.
