Beautiful Maisonette in Swanage, Dorset, England - 5 Minutes Walk To The Beach

Awarded Aspire Magazine's "Hidden Gem of Dorset 2016", Nestleton is a beautiful 3 double bedroom (plus cot bed and travel cot) maisonette occupying the top two floors of a Victorian house, with sea views, balcony, open fire and courtyard garden. The sun streams onto the balcony and front of the house in the morning, perfect for an al fresco breakfast, and streams into the back of the property in the evening. The maisonette has its own entrance and is accessed via a side staircase. Great care and attention has been given to furnishing the maisonette in a beautiful romantic French style and it is only a 5 minute stroll into Swanage town with its many cafes and restaurants, restored Victorian pier, steam railway and long sandy beach - great for children. It is also a great place for water-sport lovers, and has a scuba diving school by the pier. Durlston country park and castle is only a 15 minute walk away and the property location will therefore also suit walkers who wish to explore the Jurassic coastline and this area of outstanding natural beauty. Corfe Castle, Studland Bay, Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island and Blue Pool to name just a few, are all in close proximity to Swanage. Children and pets are very welcome! About Moira Lamond

Living and working in London has its benefits, but we have enjoyed nothing more than escaping to Dorset for weekends and holidays for the last 25 years. As keen camper vaners we have spent many weeks travelling around the Purbeck area enjoying its amazing natural beauty.We have become qualified scuba divers at Swanage diving school, water ski, surf, horse ride on the beach, and have a boat kept at Shell Bay Marina.

The children have been brought up enjoying the sea air, boating around the Islands, visiting Brownsea Island and having mud fights!

Dorset never loses its charm and as soon as we approach the chain ferry we are filled with excitement and a sense of peace. There is nothing better than then sitting on the beach watching the sun set over Brownsea Island-bliss!.

Why Moira Lamond chose Purbeck

When our camper van finally came to its last days (and the emission zone was introduced in London) sadly it was crushed!

So we decided it was time to buy a place. Unbelievably this maisonette was for sale-unbelieveably because I have been walking past this house for 15 years saying "I'm going to live there one day" I still have to pinch myself that it's true.

Unfortunately the apartment was in a neglected state-So Brian being a builder & my hobby being interior design we set about restoring it. It has been a task but we are just about there. We never tire of this wonderful part of England and are amazed that we still find new areas to explore-It well deserves the title of area of outstanding natural beauty.When boating around the Islands in Poole Harbour, you really could be in Greece!

What makes this apartment unique

The maisonette is so conveniently placed to stroll into town, laze, play or enjoy water sports on the beach, or to walk to Ballard Downs and Durlston Country Park, with its castle, cafe and panoramic views. If you're lucky you may even spot a dolphin there!

Whatever time of the year, there is always something to do and see in Swanage and the surrounding area. The changing seasons emphasise the natural beauty of this area.

We love waking up in the morning to the sea view, and on a clear sunny day looking across to the Isle of Wight, followed by breakfast on the balcony.

Notes on accommodation: Sleeps additional child to 4yrs in cot bed + baby travel cot. No off street parking, but free street parking. It is sometimes difficult to get a space on Park Road during the high seasons, however spaces are always available further up the hill to the right on Durlston Road. We double park to unload then move further up the hill. Spaces commonly become available outside the property in the evening when day trippers leave. Strictly no smoking in any part of the property including balcony and garden. Outside: Front and side courtyard garden, picnic bench, firepit/BBQ, garden bench, storage box for beach equipment, shed. Wet suits can also be hung here.The Balcony is accessed from the living room via two locked doors and has a low rail:- children must be supervised at all times. There is a table, 3 chairs, and side views over the town to the sea Cleaning / Towels / Linen All linen and towels are provided (excl. beach towels, and towels/blankets for dogs/pets). Cleaning, including change of towels and bed linen, on arrival and weekly thereafter.

Fantastic property in a lovely plce

We stayed at Nestleton for a week and wished we had booked two! The house is beautiful, plenty of room and everything you need. We have a toddler and high chair, cot bed and stair gates were all available which were greatly appreciated. By the end of the week we had got used to the hill but to be honest, it isn't that bad, the house is nearer the bottom than the top! Plus without the hill there wouldn't be such beautiful views from the balcony! The only downside is the lack of off street parking, it can be difficult to find a spot close by which we found a struggle at times with a disabled toddler. Swanage and the surrounding area and beautiful and if you get the weather (luckily we did!) there isn't a nicer place to holiday. The communication from Moira was excellent and appreciated. We hope to visit again, thank you :-)

Excellent stay!

The property is absolutely stunning, we loved it from the first moment we saw it. But not only this - it is clean, really well equipped and we even had a bottle of milk and bottle of wine on arrival waiting for us. Our stay felt like home as it was so comfortable. The owners were lovely - great communication throughout the booking process and afterwards, it made us feel very welcome and looked after. Absolutely fantastic stay and we look forward to returning soon!

Lovely stay in a beautiful home away from home

I had a fantastic stay in this beautiful property! The decoration was wonderful and the house clean and very generously equipped (lots of pots, pans, toiletries and little touches throughout the home). The view from the master bedroom and balcony over Swanage bay really set the scene.

The property is perfectly situated just a few minutes walk to the town and beach yet inside the proper it is quiet and the balcony was perfect for the morning sun and breakfast amoungst the amazing flowering clematis.

This is not a 'run of the mill' rental - it is so nice to know that properties like this exists with such easy booking, good communication with Moira and where it is really evident that the owners care about their guests' stay. Thank you Moira and Brian! Highly recommended.

A charming house with lots of character

The house had everything we needed, nicely decorated, very comfy beds and sofas, good sized bedrooms and a nice balcony which takes the morning sun and from which you can see the sea. Very close to the town and beach.

Great Character and Location

The property was in a great spot with only a short walk downhill to the sea and the high street, the bay view out of the front bedroom is nothing short of stunning.

The house is decorated in a quirky but stylish manner that is very fitting for both the house and Swanage.

We would definitely stay again, the booking process was straight forward and everyone had a fantastic time, even the dogs.

Highly recommend it!

Simply charming

Nestleton is centrally located, restaurants and shops are only a short walk away, so is the beach front. The apartment is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and most generously equipped, it made our visit to Swanage picture perfect!

Swanage beach is a less than a 10 min stroll away, and is ideal for families, with many facilities and water sports. It also has a scuba diving centre near the pier. Sandbanks beach with its beautiful sand dunes and surrounding countryside is a 15 minute drive away or can be reached by bus from Swanage. Poole harbour is famous for wind and kite surfing, and is accessed over the chain ferry from Sandbanks. Bournemouth has its new surfing beach and Lulworth and Durdle Door are a 45 min drive away.

We love our pets so accept up to a max of 3 dogs unless miniature. There will be an additional charge of £25 for first dog per STAY and £20 per dog per STAY for 2nd or 3rd dog. (Reduced to £10 for 2nd or 3rd dog if stay is under 4 days). Other pets will be considered on request and a charge discussed.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday for weekly bookings in high and peak season. Departure by 10 am, arrival after 4 pm
Please note there is a minimum stay of 7 days in peak and high season and a minimum of 3-4 day outside of season (Please see price table for dates). Please press enquiry button to request booking form and payment details

Rental agreement is emailed with details of how to pay by bank transfer. I also accept PayPal if you want to pay by credit card (+ PayPal's 3.5% fee).
25% of rental is paid to reserve- remainder due 8 weeks prior to holiday date.
A Security deposit of £300 is due one week prior to start date and is paid and returned by bank transfer, or occasionally cash to housekeeper with prior arrangement.
