Loved the location
The first thing to say is the location is fantastic. Well placed for the town, beach and a short drive into the most amazing scenery of the mountains. The cottage was well stocked with all the necessities. The towels were a nice touch as was the little welcome pack. It was difficult to locate the first time, the supply of a parking permit was very welcome. Unfortunately the walk from the car park to the cottage was strewn with litter, dog poo and even a used condom. The outside of the cottage really needs to be painted it looks dirty. There was dried bird poo on the front door. If your host leaves a cleaning pack for you to clean up after your stay the host should make sure it is clean for your guests arrival.(check the skirtings and woodwork in the bathroom). If you have water pressure issues you should let guests know before they book. (The shower was poor). If you are letting a property in the winter you should provide adequate heating, it was quite cold in the evenings. We have learned from this experience it was our first time booking in this way but we will not do it again.

Best self catering cottage in Barmouth harbour.
My 5th time in Barmouth. Previously stayed at the caravan parks towards Harlech. But to get into Barmouth by taxi is very difficult, so you have to drive. Recently stayed at two cottages on the rock, that is up the very steep steps up from the main road. A struggle for normal people, but not suitable for me, a pensioner. This cottage is superb. Within 200 yards flat walk of four pubs, including a home brew real ale bar. So plenty of places to eat out. Barmouth has a Spar shop on the High Street, a bit tatty. But the CO-OP by the railway station is 1st class. Has everything you want, including lots of short dated food bargains. Ideal if you are there for a short stay. Proper oven and hob for home chefs, plus microwave and toaster. Large fridge/freezer. Parking no problem. Permit provided for the beach car park a couple of hundred yards away. No problems with vehicle security there. Can’t praise this cottage enough.
