Convenient base to explore surrounding area

  • 3 of 5

Booked Cader cottage at short notice & owners fitted us in for which we're grateful.

Had to collect key from owners who live a few miles away so lengthened our journey & not ideal.

The cottage was clean & warm & accommodation arranged over three floors, the bedroom being the attic room. The owners had kindly left us a bottle of wine & some chocolates.

The cottage is in central Dolgellau on a very narrow street & while we did manage to park outside it was a bit tricky as row of bins kept outside cottage made parking a bit difficult.

Very convenient for amenities of Dolgellau which is a nice market town with a good range of shops/pubs/eateries.

There is no outside space (front or back garden) but there is a local park a short walk away. Also a lovely walk alongside the river.

Weather wasn't very kind during our stay so didn't get to visit Mt Snowdon which was a disappointment.

We did visit Lanberis (Electric mountain, Snowdon train do not allow dogs), Beddgelert/Gelert's grave which is a lovely village, Inigo Jones Slate Works, Portmeirion, (do not allow dogs) & Barmouth.

Cottage better suit two people holidaying without a dog due to lack of outside space. Also no wifi or mobile reception made keeping in touch difficult.

A good base to explore beautiful Snowdonia & overall an enjoyable break.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We appreciate your comments. I do try to point out in all information sent and all listings that there is no outside space, No Wi Fi, On street parking and keys to be collected from the main house. I know this is not ideal but I do try to make this completely clear before bookings are excepted. I am sorry if this had been missed. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us. And again thank you for your comments. Kind regards Zarina and Chris

Very central and wonderfully equiped cottage.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely traditional cottage, laid out over 3 floors. Rooms were all very clean and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend to friends provided they could manage the 2 steep flights of stairs.

Very nice welcome package too.

Great Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay at 'Cader Cottage' in Dolgellau. The accommodation was perfect for me being just one bedroom. It was lovely and clean and well presented with everything in it I needed. The owner even left a small box of goodies, including a bottle of wine, which was a lovely gesture. I wanted a week of walking in stunning countryside and wasn't let down and it was great to be able to take my dog. There's a lovely walk by the river in Dolgellau and I ate at a local Café/Restaurant called 'Y Sospan' which I'd recommend. They let me take the dog inside so I never tried any of the other eateries as this place suited my needs. There are more than enough places to eat in the town centre and there's also a local CO-OP. All in all I'd thoroughly recommend Cader Cottage and the walking in the area.
