Overview

About the property

Peaceful Location with one of the best views of Mousehole Harbour and the Bay

Kittiwake, a luxurious little house with fabulous views over the harbour towards Mount's Bay and St. Michaels Mount, a garden with a view and its very own summer house. The ceilings, whilst sporting the original beams, are a good two feet higher than most properties in the village. Together with the town house sized sash windows and stunning views of the bay, it's the height in the rooms which really gives Kittiwake 'house' stature.

Bedrooms:

Where else would you find a mix of criss-cross open beams, a fabulous view out over the harbour. A very gentle ambience, the king sized bed with its luxurious duvet pillows and quality Egyptian cotton bedding, this room has a very special feel.

Bathrooms:

Distinctly Victorian in style, this bathroom has a real charm about it. Dual aspect, long windows and folding wooden shutters, the slipper bath and the separate power shower with oversized head. The toilet is in a separate room next to the bedroom.

Kitchen:

The kitchen is bespoke with gleaming granite surfaces. A Red Nespresso machine and selection of capsules are provided for your morning caffeine fix. The Dualit kettle and toaster sparkle in the corner, while the extendible breakfast table overlooked by an oversized contemporary clock is placed in just the right position to sit and still enjoy the sea views.

Utility Room:

Just outside the kitchen you will find a small utility area which houses the washing machine and other housekeeping things while the backdoor leads to the garden steps and summerhouse.

Living Room:

The sitting room with a huge open inglenook granite fireplace and a log burning stove. The ceilings, whilst sporting the original beams, are a good two feet higher than most properties in the village sporting stunning views of the bay. A contemporary sofa is perfect to curl up on and whether you light the log burner or not, the under floor heating of the black slate floor will make sure your toes never get cold.

Other:

Summer House with one of the best Views of Mousehole over the rooftops to the harbour and Mounts Bay as far as the Lizard. With Binoculars you might see Seals or Passing Dolphins.

Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:

The soft organic cotton towels and bathrobes really add to the experience. Kittiwake is maintained by a professional housekeeper.

Outside

To the rear of Kittiwake, steep winding steps lead up to the beautiful terraced garden full of alpine plants, whilst breath-taking views can be found from the beautiful summer house and terrace. About Neil Winton

Heather and I have always loved property and always buy with our hearts rather than our heads. That was definitely true of Kittiwake but who wouldn't full in love with its charm and beautiful views. We love staying there and so do our guests some who return year after year. We have been coming to Cornwall for more than 20 years but only really discovered Mousehole 2011. We have just completed our second property in Mousehole Mill Leat - having been refurbishing the Georgian cottage for the entire of 2015.

Neil Winton purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Neil Winton chose Mousehole

One of the things we really love about Kittiwake is the fantastic views from all the main rooms and garden!

We knew as soon as we saw Kittiwake and the lovely fishing village of Mousehole that this was the one we had been looking for and bought it immediately after our first visit.

We have a garden, a summerhouse for the hot summer days and a log fire and underfloor heating for viewing the wild seas in the winter.

Mousehole has everything for us, oozing with character, great coastal walks and great restaurants and pub. Its perfect, we love it!

What makes this cottage unique

One of the best views you could hope from a property in Mousehole from either the living room or bedroom and from the garden. Brilliant any time of the year what ever the weather. Everyone agrees Kittiwake has a lovely feel to it as soon as you enter.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Beautiful holiday home and perfect retreat from the big smoke. Thank you.

A beautifully designed and decorated house - very clever. Such a beautiful kitchen range. Hope to return here.

We had a magical weekend. What a beautiful and comfortable little cottage. We are not ready to go home !! Thank you.

What a great discovery: this region, this village and last but not least this cottage. It was just perfect!

A lovely bright little cottage, great location!

  • 5 of 5

Kittiwake more than lives up to the holiday listing. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has the most fantastic position looking over the harbour from the lounge, bedroom and garden. Neil was very friendly and efficient making the booking process really easy.

Mousehole is a lovely village with a couple of great restaurants and pubs and is a great base to explore the bottom of Cornwall - get the bus and train to St Ives to avoid traffic and spend time shopping in Penzance.

We would recommend Kittiwake to anyone and hope to return very soon!

Beautiful home in a charming village

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kittiwake for 4 nights and loved the home and location. The home is beautiful, quiet, clean and well-appointed, and has amazing sea views from the bedroom and garden. The owner was very responsive to my questions and thoughtfully provided milk, prosecco and toiletries. Also, the village is charming with several great restaurants and shops, and just a few minutes walk from the home. I travel extensively and generally stay only at five star hotels but this home exceeded my expectations and I would happily return and recommend it to anyone. Many thanks to the owner for a wonderful stay!

Kittiwake - I want to own you !

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful cottage has everything you need to feel at home. Its spotlessly clean, comfortable with a new, modern feel whilst maintaining the old charm character of the once Fisherman’s dwelling.

Fresh milk in the fridge and a welcoming bottle of fizz on arrival are just one of the many touches that show the hosts really care about their guests. But forget all this…the views of the sea and harbour at Mousehole from Kittiwake are spectacular !

I’ll definitely be back !

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We went on a big tour through Devon and Cornwall and Mousehole was our place in Cornwall. We absolutely loved the cottage and the village. The house is very well kept and spotless clean with some luxuries you would get in a hotel as well. Loved the garden although we could harldy use it due to the glorious english summer. Loved the view from the bed. Mousehole is very down-to-earth, beautiful with some lovely places to eat. We hope we will be back sometime.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Mousehole's sandy little beaches are just a few steps away and there's a fantastic selection of beaches within a short drive from long wide expanses of sand to tiny coves.

Distances:

Cornwall is small so there are many interesting towns and places just a short drive away including Land's End, St Ives, Penzance, Falmouth & Sennen.

Further Details:

Mousehole is a fantastic community of impossibly pretty houses interspersed with galleries, shops, excellent restaurants and cafes. The Old Coastguard Hotel serves food with a fabulous view and the Ship Inn is a fantastic Cornish pub. All are a short walk from Kittiwake.
