Beautiful Picturesque Barn In Brecon Beacons National Park

Overview

Property

Updated: 22-Oct-2016
Stunning Barn set in picturesque and tranquil village of in Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon, Wales

This lovely welsh barn has been converted into a stunning holiday home. Key features include: a brand new kitchen, a wood burner, wifi, double height ceiling, exposed beams and brickwork, dogs welcome. There is parking for two cars. We also have a cot and high chair. There is seating in the garden with spectacular views and a shed for bike storage. Set in Talybont on Usk, in the middle of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this amazing location has the best of everything being near two rivers, a canal, mountains, hills, forest, fields... and with 3 pubs within walking distance (less than a mile). The Old Hay Barn is set on Aber Farm which is a working sheep and apple pressing farm. If you are lucky, you will see the farm pressing the apples to make delicious apple juice. We include a bottle of this lovely juice in your welcome pack. There are wonderful walks around straight from the door of the property and also across the whole of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

About the Owner

My husband and I fell in love with the Old Hay House the moment we saw it and we were lucky enough to buy it in February 2014. We own a hotel in Bradford on Avon (The Moonraker) and wanted a place we could escape to on our days off.

We have worked hard to create a beautiful and tranquil place to relax in the middle of the spectacular Brecon Beacons National Park.

We hope you love it as much as we do!

The house is amazing! We love it. Talybont on Usk is the best location in the Brecon Beacons National Park and we have been on stunning walks. Thanks for making it such a special stay.

Beautiful, tranquil escape.

From the initial emails right through to the end of our holiday, Lucy helped us with every aspect of our stay.

The house was absolutely perfect for our Christmas break: spacious, comfortable and incredibly well equipped.

We absolutely loved our stay and would happily recommend the house to everyone.

Stunning barn, fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fantastic break at the Old Hay House. The barn is absolutely beautiful, full of character, lovely and bright and airy but still really cosy in the evenings. Really well equipped and very clean.

The location is fantastic as it is really quiet and rural but still within walking distance of the village (approx 15 min pretty walk down the Taff trail or along the river), with a shop, cafe and good choice of pubs. There are also lots of fantastic varied walks straight from the door.

We would definitely recommend this property and hope to be back ourselves sometime soon!

Amazing property

  • 5 of 5

Spent a wonderful week at this amazing Welsh barn conversion. Our expectations were exceeded in every way, and the pictures do not do it justice. The location is fabulous for touring the Brecon Beacons, and there is an amazing group of waterfalls just up the road at the head of the reservoir. We were highly impressed with the quality and taste level of the furnishings, and the kitchen was excellent. Lucy was very responsive to our particular needs as US based travelers, and every communication was quickly and effectively answered. Being from Hawaii, I have to say we were shown the Aloha spirit. I give the Old Hay House my highest recommendation.

Beautiful property in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in a number of Welsh holiday properties over the past few years - the Old Hay House is up there with the best. The property is spacious and very well equipped, with a lovely new kitchen and a big, but cosy, lounge. Best of all, the location is ideal if you want a good variety of walks on your doorstep. We particularly enjoyed the riverside route to Talybont on Usk that took us through a field of newborn lambs!

Relaxing retreat

  • 5 of 5

We decided to get away for a weekend retreat, and come accross this beautiful gem in Talybont-on-usk. More specifically Aber village. Once booking the property I was contacted by Lucy Hopkins who gave me all the information we needed, from how to get there, accessing the property, things to do and where to find the logs!

We arrived around 7pm excited to see the hills, views and surroundings however we had to wait until morning. We took a stroll to the local pub, to be greeted by friendly locals and good ale! A few ales later, we strolled home under the starry sky. The next morning, we opened the curtains to what is the most spectacular views! It was a perfect holiday home! It comes with all you need. Hot water, heating, log burner fire, soft linen, good kitchen, cable tv, a landline and if you need it, Free Wifi!

I would most definitely recommend this beautifully restored barn conversion to anyone looking for a break. It is clear the owners have put some real time, effort and love into making this a beautiful place to retreat. We hope to return in the future without hesitation.

Oh yeah... Try the local Apple juice from the neighbour!!

Facilities

From the Owner

We love being somewhere so tranquil with all the great walks nearby. Having a wood burner is a real treat for us. We love feeling so far away from urban hum drum, and instead, close to nature. It's also amazing to be part of a working sheep and apple farm. And of course, Talybont on Usk is the best valley in the Brecons!
