Tretop In Truro. Five Star City Centre Self Catering Apartment. Cornwall - Not just Coast and Cottages, you can also have Town and Country. If you thought Cornwall was all quaint country cottages and surfing beaches, you may be pleased to find a comfortable alternative in our luxury modern apartment. Truro is blessed location-wise. Situated in the heart of Cornwall, it is just nine miles from both the North Cornwall and South Cornwall coasts. In spite of its “inland” situation Truro was once a seaport and you can now travel by boat from the Town Quay to the famous seafaring town of Falmouth, home of the National Maritime Museum. From Falmouth there are passenger ferries to Mylor and St Mawes on the Roseland peninsular. More than enough choice to completely fill a car-free day, and leaving enough to do it all over again. The apartment is equipped to a very high standard. We aim for the highest level of satisfaction. Comments in our Visitors Book seem to endorse this.
Are you a Foodie? Truro, plus Falmouth and the adjacent Roseland Peninsular, have enough wonderful restaurants to keep you fed for a couple of weeks without having to go to the same place twice. And we are talking about value a well as quality; not many rip-off up-country over-hyped eateries here! Further afield, go to Rick Stein’s Fish Restaurants in Padstow, or Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay near Newquay, both world-famous eating venues and good value for the quality. In Rock you will find top chefs at the St Enodoc Hotel, The Dining Room and Tides at the Mariners Hotel, all excellent. Nathan Outlaw has moved to nearby Port Isaac. (You know Port Isaac, aka Port Wenn in the Doc Martin TV series).
A Culture Vulture? Truro has a magnificent Cathedral, the Royal County Museum, the Hall for Cornwall theatre with a fantastically varied programme, plus several galleries, and has a great variety of shops. The cliff-edge outdoor Minnack Theatre is within easy driving distance, as are St Ives and the Tate Gallery, and the world-class Eden Project. Everybody should visit Eden at least once. Access is easy from Truro to St Austell by rail, then a dedicated bus link. Are you well connected? We are, by road, rail and air. By road via M4 / M5/ A30; alternatively M3, A303, M5, and A30; by rail from London Paddington direct to Truro; and regional links to Newquay Airport. You really want beaches? Either coast provides a choice of almost every kind of beach. If you are a fan of the television lifeguard programme then Perranporth beach will be a must. There are also the surfing beaches of Newquay and the many family-friendly beaches on the south coast such as Swan Pool and Porthcurno. Just a little further away, you have the choice of Watergate Bay, Constantine Bay, Daymer Bay and Polzeath. When the wonderful British weather is a bit variable, it is often the case that the two coasts are enjoying completely opposite conditions! In which case, just go where the weather suits you. We have secure cycle storage at the apartment. As 90% of the traffic in Cornwall is on less than 10% of the roads, Cornwall is great for cycling. For easy cycling, go to the beautiful Camel Trail, the famous coastal and woodland traffic-free cycle route, especially inland from Wadebridge. And there are many other cycle routes.
Truro is at the heart of Poldark country. Poldark and mining are in the DNA of Cornwall, and vice-versa. The locations in the Poldark TV series are a pastiche of the West Country but Cornwall is at the heart of it all. We can introduce you to specific customised walking tours visiting some of the iconic scenery - many people will not realise that filming has happened here and moved on - or we can give you the position of some of the locations and you can explore for yourself.
There is so much to see and do in the heart of Cornwall that you will never have enough time.
For those of you who want tro cram everything into your holiday, and have a yearning to visit the Isles of Scilly, Tretop is an ideal location for a stopover. The final leg from Cornwall to St Marys, whether on the Scillonian ferry or from Land's End airstrip, is best experienced after you have rested for three days or a week in Truro. The transition from a bijou city to sub-tropical islands in the Atlantic off the coast of Cornwall will enhance your enjoyment of both. (We often get guests who live on Scilly, who enjoy the city break!)
So whatever your reason, come and enjoy the comfort and privacy of Tretop in Truro.

About Brian Budden
Estelle and Brian are Cornwall residents. We love Truro, it is a wonderful bijou city which we think you will like, too.
We like to experience Tretop ourselves, when it is not actuaally booked, to go to the theatre (Hall for Cornwall, Burrell theatre, the Minack) or concerts in the cathedral, Christmas shopping, or just a long lazy weekend.

Why Brian Budden chose Truro & Falmouth area
We bought this apartment because it is so close to Truro city centre, with all its wonderful facilities, shops, restaurants, galleries, etc. It is such a vibrant and cultured place. There is never enough time for us to see everything when we stay at Tretop in Truro.
What makes this apartment unique
Apart from a rather expensive hotel, we do not think that there is anywhere more convenient for Truro city centre.
Theatre, cinema, museum, cathedral, galleries, coffee sops, markets, bars, restaurants; Truro has them all, within walking distance of Tretop.
Tretop is very comfortable and is rated 5 Star by the AA. We believe we are as good as a hotel with much more privacy and actually less expensive than a decent B&B.
Dedicated free parking for one car, with close proximity to all transport links, if you don't want to drive, means that you will be well connected in Truro.
Tretop has panoramic views over the rooftop of Truro, over the Old City hospital and past the spires of Truro Cathedral, right across the city. They say that you can rate a city view by how many trees you can see from your window - we have thousands!

Perfect for a Truro City Break - home from home except the bed in the apartment was even more comfortable than the one at home! Lovely to wake up to sunrise over the Cathedral Spires. This is the perfect base for exploring the south-west of Cornwall. Thank-you!
Excellent flat in a fab location
The flat is very well furnished, and extremely well equipped. The furnishings are to a high spec and the flat itself is spacious and easily accommodate our family of four. The flat is extremely well located, all of three minutes work to the very centre of Truro and twenty minutes drive to some fabulous beaches on the north coast. Would definitely visit it again when we return to Cornwall :)
A good place to stay
We found Tretop ideal. Clean and comfortable, it had everything we needed. (Except, perhaps, some space somewhere in a kitchen cupboard to keep food items unsuitable for the fridge!)
Most importantly, as we did not have a car with us the property provided easy access to Truro and all it's amenities.
We will certainly consider staying there again.
Excellent flat in excellent condition
Fantastic flat in excellent condition - highly recommended and great communication with the owner at every stage. We were very happy indeed!
Spacious stay in Truro
We can totally endorse all reviews above - all has already been said. We really appreciated Sue's welcome when we arrived late one evening after a 17-hour train ride from Nice. We stayed for two weeks so had plenty of time to explore Truro and surrounding areas. The FirstKernow weekly bus pass at 25 € was a find.
Tretop in Truro
Tretop is a comfortable 2 bedroom flat with great views over Truro. Our visit began with a friendly welcome from the housekeeper who keeps it spotless. It has all the equipment you could possibly want, and is in walking distance of all that Truro has to offer. Ideal for a short break or a longer stay.

Activity and Interests
Truro is an ancient port with its own drying harbour. It is situated equidistant from the North and South coasts (just nine miles from each) and between the Roseland and Lizard peninsular. There is a regular boat service from Truro Town Quay via Enterprise Boats to Falmouth, St Mawes and Trelissick Gardens. North coast beaches include Perranporth, St Ives, Watergate Bay, etc. South coast options include Helford, Swan Pool, Gerrans Bay, St Michael's Mount etc etc. Too many options to list!
Newquay Airport is about 15 miles away.
Truro main-line Rail station is a ten minute walk, as is the main bus station at Lemon Quay (but in the opposite direction).
The main line is from Paddington, London to Penzance with all trains stopping at Truro. There is a lovely branch line to Falmouth. Leave the car at Tretop.
Local buses connect to all parts of Cornwall. National Express coaches from London, Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Newquay and Penzance all call at Truro.
You will already be located within easy walking distance of Truro City Centre. If driving and it is 'rush hour', you will be leaving when everybody is arriving, so you will not be held up with the usual city centre traffic.
Truro is almost the geographical centre of Cornwall, so everywhere is easily accessible.
Truro has recently been voted "The best city in Britain". Compared with most other cities, it is tiny! But it has everything you could want; all the facilities, shopping, restaurants and culture you could wish for in a relaxing holiday.
