The property is a stone built house dating from 1850. As well as being a residential property it has also been previously used as a cafe and an art gallery. It has been extensively renovated in the last three years into a light airy and fully equipped home. Accommodation comprises of a lounge with access from the courtyard garden at the front, a cloakroom and WC, a dining area and kitchen on the ground floor. The master bedroom, rear street entrance and shower room / WC are on the first floor and a second bedroom and mezzanine bedroom are on the second floor. The property does have steep and narrow stairs unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
We are two retired police officers currently living and working in the UK. We have two teenage girls and intend to move to the area when they have completed their education.
Catherine and Mike Finch purchased this house in 2011
We bought this property having fallen in love with the area. La Redorte is a small but lively village with the advantage of being situated between the historic city of Carcassonne (20mins) and Narbonne and the coast (30-40mins). It also has a nearby swimming lake (10mins) and the calm and peaceful Canal du Midi meanders through the bottom of the village. As one of the Minevois villages La Redorte is surrounded by grapevines.
This is a light and airy house with courtyard garden which combines the benefits of traditional building techniques , thick stone walls to keep it cool in summer and exposed beams, with a sympathetic modern renovation offering modern facilities.
