Cider Barn Sleeps 5 (2 Bedrooms)

Cider Barn is a sympathetically converted 17th Century stone barn which sleeps 5 in two bedrooms. It is furnished to a high standard. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with ceramic hob and fan oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. It has central heating, television and wifi broadband. All linen and bedding is provided.

Our four-star traditional barn conversion & two Scandinavian lodges are situated in 17 acres of quiet, unspoilt countryside with picturesque lake where our visitors are free to roam and enjoy a gentler pace of life. There is a feeling of seclusion, yet the cottages are central for all kinds of activities in Devon and Somerset. Above the cottages is “Chimney Down”, a beautiful stretch of open common land, ideal for dog walking, with spectacular panoramic views across Exmoor to the north and Dartmoor to the west.

About Tod Bainbridge

Tod and Heather Bainbridge have lived here for over thirty years and have been running Quarry Hockford Cottages for ten years.

We started with the Cider Barn and added Orchard Lodge eight years ago and Lakeside this year (2014).

Tod Bainbridge purchased this barn in 1980

Notes

Booking Notes:
Please confirm availability of your desired unit and dates by email or telephone. A non-refundable deposit of 25% is due on booking, with the balance due one month before the start of your holiday. Payment may be made by bank transfer or cheque. We will hold your provisional booking for four days to allow you make payment.

Changeover Day:
Our changeover day is Saturday except by arrangement.

Notes on prices:
Discount of 10% for second week. Shorter stays (less than a week) by arrangement depending upon number of guests.

Coast/Beach:

Picturesque Lyme Regis in Dorset is 35 miles. On the north coasts of Somerset and Devon and the south Devon coast there are numerous and varied beaches and resorts, including Minehead, Porlock, Watchet, Lynmouth, Woolacombe and Putsborough, Torbay to name just a few.

Travel:

We are 5 miles from the M5 (Junction 27). Tiverton Parkway Railway station is also 5 miles. Use of car is essential.

Distances:

Exmoor (15 minutes) and Dartmoor (1 hour) are both within easy driving distance. Wimbleball and Clatworthy Lakes (10miles) provide canoeing, sailing, fishing and excellent walking. There are National Trust properties Knightshayes (8 miles) and Killerton (15 miles). The Grand Western Canal (3 miles) provides tow-path cycling and walking and coarse fishing. The West Somerset Railway is nearby (16 miles). We are on the Sustrans Padstow to Bath Cycling Route.

Further Details:

The Staplecross Inn (1 mile) serves food (closed Monday). There is a Tesco Superstore (24hrs) at Tiverton (8 miles). There are a range of small local shops in Bampton (5 miles). We are 1 miles from Hunstham Court wedding venue.

Notes:

  • Outside: Each property has its own enclosed grassed area where dogs may run free as well as a patio and or terrace with garden furniture. There is shared games room with table tennis and darts and an all-weather tennis court. Guests may walk in the fields if there are no livestock in them.
