3 bedroom cottage in peaceful rural location just outside of the village of Vengeons. The cottage sleeps 6 people in 2 double and 1 twin bedrooms. The cottage has an open plan living and dining area with kitchen facilities (gas stove, microwave, toaster, etc). The house is surrounded by large garden area providing plenty of space for children to play. A beautiful lake (Dathee) with golf course is nearby as well as fishing in a newly refurbished trout farm. There are small supermarkets and café-bar in the nearby villages of St-Germain, Gathemo and Sourdeval while the nearby town of Vire (approximately 10km) has supermarkets, restaurants, swimming pool, bowling and plenty of other facilities. The D-day beaches, the town of Bayeux and the beach resort of Granville are all within easy reach (approximately 45 mins drive) and Mont St Michel is approximately 1 hour's drive. The cottage provides an ideal base for a get away from it all, relaxing holiday while having all the amenities needed within easy reach.

Activity and Interests


50 minutes drive to beach resort of Granville and just over 1 hour's drive to the D-day beaches.


The property is located about 1 hour's drive from the ferry ports of Caen/Ouistreham, Cherbourg and St. Malo and about 2 hours from Le Havre. There is a train station at Vire and a local bus runs to Vengeons but the use of car is really essential. The nearest airport is Dinard. Car hire is available at the airport and also from Caen train station.


Sourdeval, St Germain and Gathemo are all approximately 5km from the house and have small supermarkets and café-bar. The town of Vire is 10km away and has large supermarkets, shops, pharmacies, a market (Fridays), swimming at Aqua-Vire, restaurants and bowling. Lake de la Dathee has beautiful walks, a golf course and hire of pedaloes and water sports equipment. The nearby town of Mortain has beautiful cascades and a great view over the countryside. Rock climbing is available at Roche d'Oetre.

Further Details:

The property is a good base for exploring the many tourist attractions in Normandy and west Brittany. There is a segregated walking and cycling route nearby, fishing at the trout farm (10 mins walk), golf, canoeing, water sports and further beautiful walks at nearby Lac de la Dathee. Normandy is famous for many culinary treats including cheeses, cider and Calvados while the nearby town of Vire is renowned for its Andouille sausage. Mont St Michel and the historic town of St Malo are just over 1 hour's drive to the east. To the north are the D-day beaches and Bayeux with its famous tapestry. A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking and the balance is required to be paid 4 weeks prior to arrival. A £100 security deposit is required on arrival which will be returned within 48 hours of departure provided the cottage is left in a satisfactory condition with no breakages.

Changeover Day:
Saturday is our preferred day for changeovers but we can be flexible depending on availability particularly outside of the high season.
