Whether you're looking for a romantic break, a walking holiday, riding in the hills or just peace and tranquillity, this off the beaten-track property is for you. Experience the stunning Pembrokeshire scenery and wildlife by walking directly onto the Preseli Moor. Just a short drive away are the coastal path, beaches, good restaurants, cafes and pubs. Shopping is nearby in Crymych, Newport and Cardigan. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and dining room whilst the comfortable living and sleeping areas are laid out in studio-style with open rafters and natural stone walls. Here you will find everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. It’s great for doggy friends too with an enclosed garden and a meadow right beside the cottage.
Matt and Babs Guard bought Geulan Goch and The Old Pottery in 2006. Babs had lived in the area several years previously and fell in love with it. We spent many holidays visiting Pembrokeshire, walking on the coast path, visiting friends and walking in the hills. When the opportunity came up to move here from the city we grabbed it with both hands.
We are delighted to share this wild and wonderful place with others and The Old Pottery allows us to do that.
Barbara Guard purchased this cottage in 2006
The Old Pottery is set in an 8 acre smallholding in the Preseli National Park. Matt and Babs bought the holding because it is a very special and beautiful place.
From our gate we can walk for miles in the hills, we love the fact that we can walk our dogs, breathe the clean air and see masses of wildlife without having to drive anywhere.
The coast here is stunning, glorious walks on the coast path and beautiful beaches. There is such variety with woodlands, hills and coastal views. We love the outdoors and this is a real playground for us as we hope it will be for you too.
Currently we grow our own organic fruit and vegetables. Sometimes, in the productive months, you are welcome to some of our garden produce.
We work hard to maintain the land in a wild and organic way to attract wildlife and to preserve the abundant flowers that grow here.
We generate much of our own electricity with photovoltaic panels and grow, harvest and process our own wood for the wood-burning stove. We have a private water system, filtered and delicious to drink as well as soft to bathe in. We use eco cleaning products and air dry our laundry as much as possible.
Thank you for a lovely stay, by far the most beautiful cottage we have stayed in, so cosy and warm and also so clean. A perfect location for walks with the ford looking very pretty in the lovely weather. We will definitely be returning and recommending. Thank you.
Thank you for a beautifully relaxing break. The cottage is amazing, so clean and tidy, welcoming and has everything you could need. Will definitely visit again!
What a wonderful, magical place. The church window in The Old Pottery looks lovely with the sun pouring in. Such a lovely comfy bed – heaven!
My husband and I spent the Christmas week at the Old Pottery. We were getting away from it all and the cottage delivered in that it was isolated but within stunning walking country. We had a great time. Babs and Matt were great hosts, respecting our privacy but friendly and helpful. Matt offered to collect us after a walk which was really generous. A fabulous week in a well equipped and cosy cottage.
The Old Pottery is a cosy cottage set in woods at the foot of the Preseli Hills. It is clean, well equipped and perfect for a quite retreat or a base for walking in the Pembroke National Park. It is quite remote (at the end of a fairly bumpy track which needs to be negotiated with care) and also slightly rustic, but that is all part of the charm and why we loved our stay.
The owners are friendly and very helpful but in no way interfering.
We intend to return in later spring as we imagine the outside spaces, including the wild flower meadow, are beautiful in the warmer weather.
I can highly recommend the Old Pottery for a secluded, peaceful spot for rest and relaxation. I've stayed in a lot of places in my time and this is the best I have seen. Although the OP is quite small, every mod con, every piece of furniture has been thoughtfully fitted in. The bed is very comfortable and everything works: from the shower to the dishwasher. The result is relatively luxurious accommodation for a relatively remote location. I like the fire best, black iron, freestanding takes wood only, which is available for a modest sum, on site. The OP is well maintained and the owner keeps an eye on things during the stay without being intrusive. My sister and brother in law are expecting to book at some point. The Old Pottery is ideal for people who want secluded peacefulness in beautiful country surroundings. The beach at Newport and the town of Cardigan are both about 20 minutes drive. There is a petrol station and shop about 10 minutes away. Although out of the way, the OP is still a good spot to base yourself in to explore the local area.
This is a cottage that you won't wish to leave; it is so comfortable, warm & inviting...deceptively spacious & in a beautifully secluded part of Pembrokeshire...it even has it's own meadow to meander in plus the moors are but a short walk away. Really well equipped & maintained to a very high standard; it's obvious that the owners, Matt & Babs, care about the property & providing excellent customer service. They are welcoming & friendly (but not intrusive) and more than willing to help should a problem arise...they live next-door!
There are numerous activities & sights to explore in the locality...something for everyone...everything from walking to surfing; beer tasting to cheese making or even just sitting & dolphin spotting...this cottage is an ideal location to see Pembrokeshire & all its delights.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property...it's ideal for "escaping" to!
The listing description was accurate.
The property was very clean and well maintained.
The owner was very helpful for what we needed.
I would recommend the property to friends.
We loved the coastline walks. We ate in the Red Lion pub in Newport and the food was delicious even though it was packed with locals and tourists.
We didn't give a 5 stars only because we couldn't get access to the wifi otherwise it would have been perfection.
