This is a spacious comfortable 2 storey 2 bedroom holiday apartment sleeping 5 in a grade II listed Georgian property in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale. It is located on the cobbled approach to the church and recently featured in "Jamaica Inn". It sits above the bustle of the streets below, allowing you to listen and see what's going on below whilst having peace and privacy. Previously known as Church Mouse House, it's just been refurbished to a high standard with gas fired central heating and double glazing for warmth and privacy. Importantly, it is spacious with plenty of room for 5 to spread out and relax without tripping over each other. It has all new bedroom furniture with egyptian cotton bedding and duck down quilts, Synthetic ones are availabile if you have allergies. We believe that you should be as clean and comfortable here as you are at home.

The fully fitted kitchen has all of the usual fittings, dishwasher, washing machine, microwaves and everything you need to cook and look after a family. However, given the range of pubs and restaurants offering everything for breakfast to late suppers you might not need to use it that much.

It's the perfect location to explore not only the Dales or the Lakes, but the forgotten beauty of the Trough of Bowland and Westmorland with it's beautiful Eden Valley. Its only 20 - 30 minutes from Oxenholme and Lancaster railway stations on the West coast line and just over half an hour from Windermere. However, there is no need even to drive or put your walking boots on as the view from the other side of the churchyard was described by John Ruskin as follows; "Here are moorland, sweet river, English forest and their best." This is a place to come and relax, breathe in fresh air and let your heartbeat slow down.

The town of Kirkby Lonsdale is a haven for good food with the award winning Sun Inn next door offering delicous meals made from local produce in its top class restaurant and many other pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. The shops have something for everyone offering an ecletic mix of independent boutiques those things that you never knew you needed and could probably do without!

It's also the perfect base for a wedding either as bride or groom or for relatives to stay. We will be happy to help with those extras that you might need beforehand. We would offer special rates if you want to book it beforehand to make your plans as well while you come up for the day itself.

We have changed our policy about pets and will welcome one well behaved dog or cat providing its kept off the furniture and downstairs in the living room/kitchen. We ask for a £100 refundable deposit but our experience has been so good and we've never had to keep it.

.I'm living near by and this is my only holiday let. I lived in Kirkby for a few years, kept coming back on holiday and eventually came back to live permanently. It's a wonderful, friendly town and I think the countryside is some of the best in Britain. I keep it to the standard I would like for myself, hence the down quilts. I would like you to feel completely at home too.

Wonderful house in the perfect location........

We have been visiting Kirkby Lonsdale for many years now as it is just the most perfect spot to relax and unwind.This was our first stay in this property and we are so glad we found it,as it just ticks all the boxes (and more).....Very nice decor and spotlessly clean and comfortable,especially the warm and cosy beds.Graham,the owner, met us on arrival,and he was so friendly and helpful which was just a great start to a very happy holiday.We have already recommended it to family and friends and hope to return ourselves very soon.....Liz,Douglas & Muttley....

.It's a wonderful old building, full of character, right in the centre of things in Kirkby but in less than 200yds, you have one of the best views in England. You can sit upstairs and see everything thats going on without it intruding. The Sun next door has the best food for miles and is perfect for a quiet pint or glass of decent red. It has a great atmosphere without being loud. I fell in love with Kirkby and the flat. It's also only 70 yards from the cottage I had in the 80's so it was like coming home.

Special interest holidays:

This is a famous caving area with both easily accessible "show" caves and torruous underground passages and sumps for the experienced and more adventurous. There is swimming in the river Lune and fishing may be available. I can lend you bicycles but this is at your own risk and I might not have enough helmets to go round

Travel:

Oxenholme and Lancaster railway stations less than 15 miles. Access from Jns 34 to 37b on the M6 within 15 miles. Car hire is advbisable and available from Lancaster. Manchester and Liverpool airports are 60 - 90 minutes away

Distances:

Kendal and Lancaster 15 miles. Dent 10 miles, Hawes 22 miles, Sedbergh 10 miles. The lake district starts at Windermere, just 45 minutes away but its busy and easily avoided by going South to Coniston or North to Keswick and the glorious Borrowdale.

  • Notes on accommodation: This is a tastefully restored old building with a few idiosyncracies. Those much over 6' might have to watch their heads on the beams. There is short term parking at the door to allow unloading with long term parking available in the town car parks less than 200 m away. We can provide guidebooks, maps and advice and we're only a few miles away and look forward to meeting you on arrival. We can also arrange supper for you in a local pub or restaurant for your arrival and provide a starter pack of milk etc. The local Spar is open till 11 and the local Booths (top end supermarket) is within waking distance. Outside: The entrance to the apartment is on the cobbled Church Street leading up to the church gates. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean linen is supplied with the beds made up prior to arrival. Guests staying more than one week will have beds changed on the Friday. Towels are not supplied within the rential price but can be supplied if required.
